مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ حُمِّلُواْ ٱلتَّوۡرَىٰةَ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَحۡمِلُوهَا كَمَثَلِ ٱلۡحِمَارِ يَحۡمِلُ أَسۡفَارَۢاۚ بِئۡسَ مَثَلُ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
(62:5) The parable of those who were charged with the Torah and then they
failed to live up to it7 is that of a donkey8 laden with
books. Even more evil is the parable of the people who gave the lie to the Signs
of Allah.9 Allah does not direct such wrong-doers to the Right Way.

قُلۡ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوٓاْ إِن زَعَمۡتُمۡ أَنَّكُمۡ أَوۡلِيَآءُ لِلَّهِ مِن دُونِ ٱلنَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُاْ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ
(62:6) Tell them: “O you who have become Judaised,0 if you arrogantly
fancy that you are Allah's favourites1 to the exclusion of all people,
then wish for death, if you are truthful in your claim.”2

وَلَا يَتَمَنَّوۡنَهُۥٓ أَبَدَۢا بِمَا قَدَّمَتۡ أَيۡدِيهِمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
(62:7) But they shall never wish for death because of the (evil) deeds they
have committed.3 Allah is well aware of these evil-doers.
