وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓاْ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٖ مَّجۡنُونِۭ
and said, ‘Are we to forsake our gods for a mad poet?’
بَلۡ جَآءَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
‘No: he brought the truth and confirmed the earlier messengers;
إِنَّكُمۡ لَذَآئِقُواْ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَلِيمِ
you will taste the painful torment,
وَمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ
and be repaid only according to your deeds.’
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
Not so God’s true servants.
أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ رِزۡقٞ مَّعۡلُومٞ
They will have familiar provisions––
فَوَٰكِهُ وَهُم مُّكۡرَمُونَ
fruits- and will be honoured
فِي جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ
in gardens of delight;
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ
seated on couches, facing one another.
يُطَافُ عَلَيۡهِم بِكَأۡسٖ مِّن مَّعِينِۭ
A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring:
