سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
(that is,) Salām be on Mūsā and Hārūn!
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
This is how We reward those who are good in their deeds.
إِنَّهُمَا مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Surely, both of them were among Our believing servants.
وَإِنَّ إِلۡيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
And surely, Ilyās is one of the messengers.
إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
(Remember) when he said to his people: “Do you not fear Allah?
أَتَدۡعُونَ بَعۡلٗا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحۡسَنَ ٱلۡخَٰلِقِينَ
Do you invoke Ba‘l, and ignore the Best of the creators,
ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمۡ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
that is, Allah who is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?”
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ
Then they rejected him. Therefore, they will be arraigned -
إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ
except Allah’s chosen servants.
