Al-'Adiyat


وَٱلۡعَٰدِيَٰتِ ضَبۡحٗا

(I swear) by those (horses) that run snorting,


فَٱلۡمُورِيَٰتِ قَدۡحٗا

then those that create sparks by striking (their hoofs) on the stones,


فَٱلۡمُغِيرَٰتِ صُبۡحٗا

then those that invade at morning,


فَأَثَرۡنَ بِهِۦ نَقۡعٗا

then raise, at the same time, a trail of dust,


فَوَسَطۡنَ بِهِۦ جَمۡعًا

then enter, at the same time, into the centre of the (opposing) host,


إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٞ

man is, indeed, very ungrateful to his Lord,


وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٞ

and he himself is a witness to that fact,


وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلۡخَيۡرِ لَشَدِيدٌ

and in his love for wealth, he is very intense.


۞أَفَلَا يَعۡلَمُ إِذَا بُعۡثِرَ مَا فِي ٱلۡقُبُورِ

Does he not then know (what will happen) when all that is contained in the graves will be overturned,
