### الآية 104:1

> وَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُمَزَةٍ [104:1]

(1) Woe to every scorner and mocker

### الآية 104:2

> الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ [104:2]

(2) Who collects wealth and \[continuously\] counts it.\[1987\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1987\]- Rather than spending in the way of Allāh.

### الآية 104:3

> يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ [104:3]

(3) He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.

### الآية 104:4

> كَلَّا ۖ لَيُنْبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ [104:4]

(4) No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.\[1988\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1988\]- i.e., Hellfire, which crushes and destroys all that enters it.

### الآية 104:5

> وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ [104:5]

(5) And what can make you know what is the Crusher?

### الآية 104:6

> نَارُ اللَّهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ [104:6]

(6) It is the fire of Allāh, \[eternally\] fueled,

### الآية 104:7

> الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ [104:7]

(7) Which mounts directed at the hearts.\[1989\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1989\]- Covering them and penetrating them.

### الآية 104:8

> إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِمْ مُؤْصَدَةٌ [104:8]

(8) Indeed, it \[i.e., Hellfire\] will be closed down upon them

### الآية 104:9

> فِي عَمَدٍ مُمَدَّدَةٍ [104:9]

(9) In extended columns.\[1990\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1990\]- Interpreted to be either columns of fire or columns of iron to which are chained the inmates of Hell.
