(20:1) Ta' Ha' 

---

### الآية 20:2

> مَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ لِتَشْقَىٰ [20:2]

مَآ أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ لِتَشۡقَىٰٓ


(20:2) We did not reveal the Qur'an to you to cause you distress; 

---

### الآية 20:3

> إِلَّا تَذْكِرَةً لِمَنْ يَخْشَىٰ [20:3]

إِلَّا تَذۡكِرَةٗ لِّمَن يَخۡشَىٰ


(20:3) it is only a reminder for him who fears Allah;1

### الآية 20:4

> تَنْزِيلًا مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ الْأَرْضَ وَالسَّمَاوَاتِ الْعُلَى [20:4]

تَنزِيلٗا مِّمَّنۡ خَلَقَ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ ٱلۡعُلَى


(20:4) a revelation from Him Who created the earth and the high heavens.

### الآية 20:5

> الرَّحْمَٰنُ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوَىٰ [20:5]

ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ عَلَى ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱسۡتَوَىٰ


(20:5) The Most Compassionate Lord is settled on the Throne (of the Universe).2

### الآية 20:6

> لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحْتَ الثَّرَىٰ [20:6]

لَهُۥ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحۡتَ ٱلثَّرَىٰ


(20:6) To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth, 
 and all that is in between, and all that is beneath the soil.

### الآية 20:7

> وَإِنْ تَجْهَرْ بِالْقَوْلِ فَإِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ السِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى [20:7]

وَإِن تَجۡهَرۡ بِٱلۡقَوۡلِ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَعۡلَمُ ٱلسِّرَّ وَأَخۡفَى


(20:7) Whether you speak out aloud (or in a low voice), He knows what is 
 said secretly, and even that which is most hidden.3

### الآية 20:8

> اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ لَهُ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ [20:8]

ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ لَهُ ٱلۡأَسۡمَآءُ ٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ


(20:8) Allah - there is no god but He. His are the most excellent names.4

### الآية 20:9

> وَهَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰ [20:9]

وَهَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ


(20:9) Has the story of Moses reached you? 

---

### الآية 20:10

> إِذْ رَأَىٰ نَارًا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ امْكُثُوا إِنِّي آنَسْتُ نَارًا لَعَلِّي آتِيكُمْ مِنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوْ أَجِدُ عَلَى النَّارِ هُدًى [20:10]

إِذۡ رَءَا نَارٗا فَقَالَ لِأَهۡلِهِ ٱمۡكُثُوٓاْ إِنِّيٓ ءَانَسۡتُ نَارٗا لَّعَلِّيٓ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنۡهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوۡ أَجِدُ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ هُدٗى


(20:10) When he saw a fire5 and said to his family: "Hold on! 
 I have just perceived a fire; perhaps I will bring a brand from it for you, 
 or I will find some guidance at the fire about the way to follow."6

### الآية 20:11

> فَلَمَّا أَتَاهَا نُودِيَ يَا مُوسَىٰ [20:11]

فَلَمَّآ أَتَىٰهَا نُودِيَ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ


(20:11) When he came to it, a voice called out: "Moses! 

---

### الآية 20:12

> إِنِّي أَنَا رَبُّكَ فَاخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى [20:12]

إِنِّيٓ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكَ فَٱخۡلَعۡ نَعۡلَيۡكَ إِنَّكَ بِٱلۡوَادِ ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِ طُوٗى


(20:12) Verily I am your Lord! Take off your shoes.7 You are in 
 the sacred valley, Tuwa!8

### الآية 20:13

> وَأَنَا اخْتَرْتُكَ فَاسْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوحَىٰ [20:13]

وَأَنَا ٱخۡتَرۡتُكَ فَٱسۡتَمِعۡ لِمَا يُوحَىٰٓ


(20:13) I Myself have chosen you; therefore, give ear to what is revealed.

### الآية 20:14

> إِنَّنِي أَنَا اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاعْبُدْنِي وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِكْرِي [20:14]

إِنَّنِيٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعۡبُدۡنِي وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ لِذِكۡرِيٓ


(20:14) Verily I am Allah. There is no god beside Me. So serve Me and establish 
 Prayers to remember Me.9

### الآية 20:15

> إِنَّ السَّاعَةَ آتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا تَسْعَىٰ [20:15]

إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ ءَاتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخۡفِيهَا لِتُجۡزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفۡسِۭ بِمَا تَسۡعَىٰ


(20:15) The Hour of Resurrection is coming. I have willed to keep the time 
 of its coming hidden so that everyone may be recompensed in accordance with 
 his effort.0

### الآية 20:16

> فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنْهَا مَنْ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِهَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ فَتَرْدَىٰ [20:16]

فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنۡهَا مَن لَّا يُؤۡمِنُ بِهَا وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ فَتَرۡدَىٰ


(20:16) Let him who does not believe in it and follows his lust not turn 
 your thought away from it, lest you are ruined.

### الآية 20:17

> وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَا مُوسَىٰ [20:17]

وَمَا تِلۡكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ


(20:17) And what is in your right hand, O Moses?"1

### الآية 20:18

> قَالَ هِيَ عَصَايَ أَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَيْهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِي وَلِيَ فِيهَا مَآرِبُ أُخْرَىٰ [20:18]

قَالَ هِيَ عَصَايَ أَتَوَكَّؤُاْ عَلَيۡهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِي وَلِيَ فِيهَا مَـَٔارِبُ أُخۡرَىٰ


(20:18) Moses answered: "This is my staff. I lean on it (when I walk), and 
 with it I beat down leaves for my flock, and I have many other uses for it."2

### الآية 20:19

> قَالَ أَلْقِهَا يَا مُوسَىٰ [20:19]

قَالَ أَلۡقِهَا يَٰمُوسَىٰ


(20:19) He said: "Moses, throw it down." 

---

### الآية 20:20

> فَأَلْقَاهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ حَيَّةٌ تَسْعَىٰ [20:20]

فَأَلۡقَىٰهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ حَيَّةٞ تَسۡعَىٰ


(20:20) So he threw it down, and lo! it was a rapidly moving snake.

### الآية 20:21

> قَالَ خُذْهَا وَلَا تَخَفْ ۖ سَنُعِيدُهَا سِيرَتَهَا الْأُولَىٰ [20:21]

قَالَ خُذۡهَا وَلَا تَخَفۡۖ سَنُعِيدُهَا سِيرَتَهَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ


(20:21) Then He said: "Seize it and have no fear. We shall restore it to 
 its former state.

### الآية 20:22

> وَاضْمُمْ يَدَكَ إِلَىٰ جَنَاحِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَاءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوءٍ آيَةً أُخْرَىٰ [20:22]

وَٱضۡمُمۡ يَدَكَ إِلَىٰ جَنَاحِكَ تَخۡرُجۡ بَيۡضَآءَ مِنۡ غَيۡرِ سُوٓءٍ ءَايَةً أُخۡرَىٰ


(20:22) And place your hand in your armpit, it will come forth shining white, 
 without blemish.3 This is another Sign of Allah,

### الآية 20:23

> لِنُرِيَكَ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا الْكُبْرَى [20:23]

لِنُرِيَكَ مِنۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا ٱلۡكُبۡرَى


(20:23) for We shall show you some of Our greatest Signs.

### الآية 20:24

> اذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ [20:24]

ٱذۡهَبۡ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ


(20:24) And go to Pharaoh now for he has transgressed all bounds."

### الآية 20:25

> قَالَ رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي [20:25]

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱشۡرَحۡ لِي صَدۡرِي


(20:25) Moses said: "Lord! Open my breast for me;4

---

### الآية 20:26

> وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي [20:26]

وَيَسِّرۡ لِيٓ أَمۡرِي


(20:26) and ease my task for me, 

---

### الآية 20:27

> وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي [20:27]

وَٱحۡلُلۡ عُقۡدَةٗ مِّن لِّسَانِي


(20:27) and loosen the knot from my tongue 

---

### الآية 20:28

> يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي [20:28]

يَفۡقَهُواْ قَوۡلِي


(20:28) so that they may understand my speech;5

---

### الآية 20:29

> وَاجْعَلْ لِي وَزِيرًا مِنْ أَهْلِي [20:29]

وَٱجۡعَل لِّي وَزِيرٗا مِّنۡ أَهۡلِي


(20:29) and appoint for me, from my household, someone who will help me bear 
 my burden -

### الآية 20:30

> هَارُونَ أَخِي [20:30]

هَٰرُونَ أَخِي


(20:30) Aaron, my brother.6

---

### الآية 20:31

> اشْدُدْ بِهِ أَزْرِي [20:31]

ٱشۡدُدۡ بِهِۦٓ أَزۡرِي


(20:31) Strengthen me through him 

---

### الآية 20:32

> وَأَشْرِكْهُ فِي أَمْرِي [20:32]

وَأَشۡرِكۡهُ فِيٓ أَمۡرِي


(20:32) and let him share my task 

---

### الآية 20:33

> كَيْ نُسَبِّحَكَ كَثِيرًا [20:33]

كَيۡ نُسَبِّحَكَ كَثِيرٗا


(20:33) that we may abundantly extol Your glory; 

---

### الآية 20:34

> وَنَذْكُرَكَ كَثِيرًا [20:34]

وَنَذۡكُرَكَ كَثِيرًا


(20:34) and may remember You much. 

---

### الآية 20:35

> إِنَّكَ كُنْتَ بِنَا بَصِيرًا [20:35]

إِنَّكَ كُنتَ بِنَا بَصِيرٗا


(20:35) Verily, You have always watched over us." 

---

### الآية 20:36

> قَالَ قَدْ أُوتِيتَ سُؤْلَكَ يَا مُوسَىٰ [20:36]

قَالَ قَدۡ أُوتِيتَ سُؤۡلَكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ


(20:36) He said: "Moses, your petition is granted.

### الآية 20:37

> وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَيْكَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَىٰ [20:37]

وَلَقَدۡ مَنَنَّا عَلَيۡكَ مَرَّةً أُخۡرَىٰٓ


(20:37) We have again bestowed Our favour upon you.7

### الآية 20:38

> إِذْ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ أُمِّكَ مَا يُوحَىٰ [20:38]

إِذۡ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ


(20:38) Recall, when We indicated to your mother through inspiration: 

---

### الآية 20:39

> أَنِ اقْذِفِيهِ فِي التَّابُوتِ فَاقْذِفِيهِ فِي الْيَمِّ فَلْيُلْقِهِ الْيَمُّ بِالسَّاحِلِ يَأْخُذْهُ عَدُوٌّ لِي وَعَدُوٌّ لَهُ ۚ وَأَلْقَيْتُ عَلَيْكَ مَحَبَّةً مِنِّي وَلِتُصْنَعَ عَلَىٰ عَيْنِي [20:39]

أَنِ ٱقۡذِفِيهِ فِي ٱلتَّابُوتِ فَٱقۡذِفِيهِ فِي ٱلۡيَمِّ فَلۡيُلۡقِهِ ٱلۡيَمُّ بِٱلسَّاحِلِ يَأۡخُذۡهُ عَدُوّٞ لِّي وَعَدُوّٞ لَّهُۥۚ وَأَلۡقَيۡتُ عَلَيۡكَ مَحَبَّةٗ مِّنِّي وَلِتُصۡنَعَ عَلَىٰ عَيۡنِيٓ


(20:39) 'Put the baby into a chest and then throw him in the river. The river 
 will throw him up on the shore, and then an enemy of Mine and an enemy of his 
 will take him.' And I spread My love over you in order that you might be reared 
 in My sight.

### الآية 20:40

> إِذْ تَمْشِي أُخْتُكَ فَتَقُولُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَنْ يَكْفُلُهُ ۖ فَرَجَعْنَاكَ إِلَىٰ أُمِّكَ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ ۚ وَقَتَلْتَ نَفْسًا فَنَجَّيْنَاكَ مِنَ الْغَمِّ وَفَتَنَّاكَ فُتُونًا ۚ فَلَبِثْتَ سِنِينَ فِي أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ ثُمَّ جِئْتَ عَلَىٰ قَدَرٍ يَا مُوسَىٰ [20:40]

إِذۡ تَمۡشِيٓ أُخۡتُكَ فَتَقُولُ هَلۡ أَدُلُّكُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَن يَكۡفُلُهُۥۖ فَرَجَعۡنَٰكَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ كَيۡ تَقَرَّ عَيۡنُهَا وَلَا تَحۡزَنَۚ وَقَتَلۡتَ نَفۡسٗا فَنَجَّيۡنَٰكَ مِنَ ٱلۡغَمِّ وَفَتَنَّـٰكَ فُتُونٗاۚ فَلَبِثۡتَ سِنِينَ فِيٓ أَهۡلِ مَدۡيَنَ ثُمَّ جِئۡتَ عَلَىٰ قَدَرٖ يَٰمُوسَىٰ


(20:40) Recall, when your sister went along, saying: 'Shall I direct you 
 to one who will take charge of him?' Thus We brought you back to your mother 
 so that her heart might be gladdened and she might not grieve. Moses, recall 
 when you slew a person. We delivered you from distress and made you go through 
 several trials. Then you stayed for several years among the people of Midian, 
 and now you have come at the right moment as ordained.

### الآية 20:41

> وَاصْطَنَعْتُكَ لِنَفْسِي [20:41]

وَٱصۡطَنَعۡتُكَ لِنَفۡسِي


(20:41) I have chosen you for My service. 

---

### الآية 20:42

> اذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَأَخُوكَ بِآيَاتِي وَلَا تَنِيَا فِي ذِكْرِي [20:42]

ٱذۡهَبۡ أَنتَ وَأَخُوكَ بِـَٔايَٰتِي وَلَا تَنِيَا فِي ذِكۡرِي


(20:42) So go forth, both you and your brother, with My Signs, and do not 
 slacken in remembering Me.

### الآية 20:43

> اذْهَبَا إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ [20:43]

ٱذۡهَبَآ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ


(20:43) Go both of you to Pharaoh, for he has transgressed all bounds,

### الآية 20:44

> فَقُولَا لَهُ قَوْلًا لَيِّنًا لَعَلَّهُ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَىٰ [20:44]

فَقُولَا لَهُۥ قَوۡلٗا لَّيِّنٗا لَّعَلَّهُۥ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوۡ يَخۡشَىٰ


(20:44) and speak to him gently, perhaps he may take heed or fear (Allah)."8

### الآية 20:45

> قَالَا رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا نَخَافُ أَنْ يَفْرُطَ عَلَيْنَا أَوْ أَنْ يَطْغَىٰ [20:45]

قَالَا رَبَّنَآ إِنَّنَا نَخَافُ أَن يَفۡرُطَ عَلَيۡنَآ أَوۡ أَن يَطۡغَىٰ


(20:45) The two said:"18a Lord! We fear he may commit excesses 
 against us, or transgress all bounds."

### الآية 20:46

> قَالَ لَا تَخَافَا ۖ إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَا أَسْمَعُ وَأَرَىٰ [20:46]

قَالَ لَا تَخَافَآۖ إِنَّنِي مَعَكُمَآ أَسۡمَعُ وَأَرَىٰ


(20:46) He said: "Have no fear. I am with you, hearing and seeing all.

### الآية 20:47

> فَأْتِيَاهُ فَقُولَا إِنَّا رَسُولَا رَبِّكَ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَا تُعَذِّبْهُمْ ۖ قَدْ جِئْنَاكَ بِآيَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَىٰ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الْهُدَىٰ [20:47]

فَأۡتِيَاهُ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولَا رَبِّكَ فَأَرۡسِلۡ مَعَنَا بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ وَلَا تُعَذِّبۡهُمۡۖ قَدۡ جِئۡنَٰكَ بِـَٔايَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّكَۖ وَٱلسَّلَٰمُ عَلَىٰ مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ


(20:47) So, go to him, and say: 'Behold, both of us are the Messengers of 
 your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with us, and do not chastise them. 
 We have come to you with a sign from your Lord; and peace shall be for him who 
 follows the true guidance.

### الآية 20:48

> إِنَّا قَدْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيْنَا أَنَّ الْعَذَابَ عَلَىٰ مَنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ [20:48]

إِنَّا قَدۡ أُوحِيَ إِلَيۡنَآ أَنَّ ٱلۡعَذَابَ عَلَىٰ مَن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ


(20:48) It has been revealed to us that chastisement awaits those who called 
 the lie to the truth and turned away from it.' "9

### الآية 20:49

> قَالَ فَمَنْ رَبُّكُمَا يَا مُوسَىٰ [20:49]

قَالَ فَمَن رَّبُّكُمَا يَٰمُوسَىٰ


(20:49) Pharaoh0 said:" Moses!1 Who is the Lord of 
 the two of you?"

### الآية 20:50

> قَالَ رَبُّنَا الَّذِي أَعْطَىٰ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلْقَهُ ثُمَّ هَدَىٰ [20:50]

قَالَ رَبُّنَا ٱلَّذِيٓ أَعۡطَىٰ كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ خَلۡقَهُۥ ثُمَّ هَدَىٰ


(20:50) He said: "Our Lord is He2 Who gave everything its form 
 and then guided it."3

### الآية 20:51

> قَالَ فَمَا بَالُ الْقُرُونِ الْأُولَىٰ [20:51]

قَالَ فَمَا بَالُ ٱلۡقُرُونِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ


(20:51) Pharaoh asked: "Then, what is the state of the former generations?"4

### الآية 20:52

> قَالَ عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ رَبِّي فِي كِتَابٍ ۖ لَا يَضِلُّ رَبِّي وَلَا يَنْسَى [20:52]

قَالَ عِلۡمُهَا عِندَ رَبِّي فِي كِتَٰبٖۖ لَّا يَضِلُّ رَبِّي وَلَا يَنسَى


(20:52) Moses said: "Its knowledge is with my Lord, recorded in the Book. 
 My Lord does not err, nor does He forget."5

### الآية 20:53

> الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ مَهْدًا وَسَلَكَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلًا وَأَنْزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجًا مِنْ نَبَاتٍ شَتَّىٰ [20:53]

ٱلَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَهۡدٗا وَسَلَكَ لَكُمۡ فِيهَا سُبُلٗا وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَخۡرَجۡنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزۡوَٰجٗا مِّن نَّبَاتٖ شَتَّىٰ


(20:53) He6 it is Who spread the earth for you; and made in it 
 paths for you, and sent down water from the sky, and then through it We brought 
 forth many species of diverse plants.

### الآية 20:54

> كُلُوا وَارْعَوْا أَنْعَامَكُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِأُولِي النُّهَىٰ [20:54]

كُلُواْ وَٱرۡعَوۡاْ أَنۡعَٰمَكُمۡۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّأُوْلِي ٱلنُّهَىٰ


(20:54) So eat yourself and pasture your cattle. Surely there are many Signs 
 in this for people of understanding.7

### الآية 20:55

> ۞ مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ [20:55]

۞مِنۡهَا خَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمۡ وَمِنۡهَا نُخۡرِجُكُمۡ تَارَةً أُخۡرَىٰ


(20:55) From this very earth We created you and to the same earth We shall 
 cause you to return, and from it We shall bring you forth to life again.8

### الآية 20:56

> وَلَقَدْ أَرَيْنَاهُ آيَاتِنَا كُلَّهَا فَكَذَّبَ وَأَبَىٰ [20:56]

وَلَقَدۡ أَرَيۡنَٰهُ ءَايَٰتِنَا كُلَّهَا فَكَذَّبَ وَأَبَىٰ


(20:56) Indeed We showed Pharaoh Our Signs,9 all of them, but 
 he declared them to be false and rejected them.

### الآية 20:57

> قَالَ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتُخْرِجَنَا مِنْ أَرْضِنَا بِسِحْرِكَ يَا مُوسَىٰ [20:57]

قَالَ أَجِئۡتَنَا لِتُخۡرِجَنَا مِنۡ أَرۡضِنَا بِسِحۡرِكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ


(20:57) He said: "Have you come to us to drive us out of our land by your 
 sorcery?0

### الآية 20:58

> فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَ بِسِحْرٍ مِثْلِهِ فَاجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَا نُخْلِفُهُ نَحْنُ وَلَا أَنْتَ مَكَانًا سُوًى [20:58]

فَلَنَأۡتِيَنَّكَ بِسِحۡرٖ مِّثۡلِهِۦ فَٱجۡعَلۡ بَيۡنَنَا وَبَيۡنَكَ مَوۡعِدٗا لَّا نُخۡلِفُهُۥ نَحۡنُ وَلَآ أَنتَ مَكَانٗا سُوٗى


(20:58) We shall confront you with a sorcery like your own. So appoint a 
 day when both of us might meet face to face in an open space; an appointment 
 which neither we nor you shall fail to keep."

### الآية 20:59

> قَالَ مَوْعِدُكُمْ يَوْمُ الزِّينَةِ وَأَنْ يُحْشَرَ النَّاسُ ضُحًى [20:59]

قَالَ مَوۡعِدُكُمۡ يَوۡمُ ٱلزِّينَةِ وَأَن يُحۡشَرَ ٱلنَّاسُ ضُحٗى


(20:59) Moses said: "The appointment to meet you is on the Day of the Feast 
 and let all people come together before noon."1

### الآية 20:60

> فَتَوَلَّىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ فَجَمَعَ كَيْدَهُ ثُمَّ أَتَىٰ [20:60]

فَتَوَلَّىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فَجَمَعَ كَيۡدَهُۥ ثُمَّ أَتَىٰ


(20:60) Pharaoh went back and concerted all his stratagem and returned for 
 the encounter.2

### الآية 20:61

> قَالَ لَهُمْ مُوسَىٰ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا فَيُسْحِتَكُمْ بِعَذَابٍ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ افْتَرَىٰ [20:61]

قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ وَيۡلَكُمۡ لَا تَفۡتَرُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبٗا فَيُسۡحِتَكُم بِعَذَابٖۖ وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ


(20:61) (At the time of the encounter) Moses said to them:3 "Woe 
 to you! Do not invent falsehoods against Allah4 lest He destroy 
 you with a scourge. Surely those who invent lies shall come to grief."

### الآية 20:62

> فَتَنَازَعُوا أَمْرَهُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ وَأَسَرُّوا النَّجْوَىٰ [20:62]

فَتَنَٰزَعُوٓاْ أَمۡرَهُم بَيۡنَهُمۡ وَأَسَرُّواْ ٱلنَّجۡوَىٰ


(20:62) Thereupon they wrangled among themselves about the matter and conferred 
 in secret.5

---

### الآية 20:63

> قَالُوا إِنْ هَٰذَانِ لَسَاحِرَانِ يُرِيدَانِ أَنْ يُخْرِجَاكُمْ مِنْ أَرْضِكُمْ بِسِحْرِهِمَا وَيَذْهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ الْمُثْلَىٰ [20:63]

قَالُوٓاْ إِنۡ هَٰذَٰنِ لَسَٰحِرَٰنِ يُرِيدَانِ أَن يُخۡرِجَاكُم مِّنۡ أَرۡضِكُم بِسِحۡرِهِمَا وَيَذۡهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ ٱلۡمُثۡلَىٰ


(20:63) Some of them said:6 "These two are magicians, who want 
 to drive you out of your land with their magic and to destroy your excellent 
 way of life.7

### الآية 20:64

> فَأَجْمِعُوا كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ ائْتُوا صَفًّا ۚ وَقَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْيَوْمَ مَنِ اسْتَعْلَىٰ [20:64]

فَأَجۡمِعُواْ كَيۡدَكُمۡ ثُمَّ ٱئۡتُواْ صَفّٗاۚ وَقَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ مَنِ ٱسۡتَعۡلَىٰ


(20:64) So muster all your stratagem and come forth in a row.8 
 Whoever prevails today shall triumph."

### الآية 20:65

> قَالُوا يَا مُوسَىٰ إِمَّا أَنْ تُلْقِيَ وَإِمَّا أَنْ نَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَلْقَىٰ [20:65]

قَالُواْ يَٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِمَّآ أَن تُلۡقِيَ وَإِمَّآ أَن نَّكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنۡ أَلۡقَىٰ


(20:65) The magicians9 said: "Moses, will you throw down or shall 
 we be the first to throw?"

### الآية 20:66

> قَالَ بَلْ أَلْقُوا ۖ فَإِذَا حِبَالُهُمْ وَعِصِيُّهُمْ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ سِحْرِهِمْ أَنَّهَا تَسْعَىٰ [20:66]

قَالَ بَلۡ أَلۡقُواْۖ فَإِذَا حِبَالُهُمۡ وَعِصِيُّهُمۡ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَيۡهِ مِن سِحۡرِهِمۡ أَنَّهَا تَسۡعَىٰ


(20:66) Moses replied: "No, let it be you to throw first." Then suddenly 
 it appeared to Moses, owing to their magic,0 as if their ropes and 
 staffs were running.

### الآية 20:67

> فَأَوْجَسَ فِي نَفْسِهِ خِيفَةً مُوسَىٰ [20:67]

فَأَوۡجَسَ فِي نَفۡسِهِۦ خِيفَةٗ مُّوسَىٰ


(20:67) So Moses' heart was filled with fear.1

---

### الآية 20:68

> قُلْنَا لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْأَعْلَىٰ [20:68]

قُلۡنَا لَا تَخَفۡ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ


(20:68) We said to him: "Have no fear; for it is you who will prevail.

### الآية 20:69

> وَأَلْقِ مَا فِي يَمِينِكَ تَلْقَفْ مَا صَنَعُوا ۖ إِنَّمَا صَنَعُوا كَيْدُ سَاحِرٍ ۖ وَلَا يُفْلِحُ السَّاحِرُ حَيْثُ أَتَىٰ [20:69]

وَأَلۡقِ مَا فِي يَمِينِكَ تَلۡقَفۡ مَا صَنَعُوٓاْۖ إِنَّمَا صَنَعُواْ كَيۡدُ سَٰحِرٖۖ وَلَا يُفۡلِحُ ٱلسَّاحِرُ حَيۡثُ أَتَىٰ


(20:69) And throw down what is in your right hand; it will swallow up all 
 that they have wrought. They have wrought only a magician's stratagem.2 
 A magician cannot come to any good, come whence he may."

### الآية 20:70

> فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سُجَّدًا قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ هَارُونَ وَمُوسَىٰ [20:70]

فَأُلۡقِيَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سُجَّدٗا قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ هَٰرُونَ وَمُوسَىٰ


(20:70) Eventually the magicians were impelled to fall down prostrate3 
 and said: "We believe in the Lord of Moses and Aaron."4

### الآية 20:71

> قَالَ آمَنْتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ ۖ فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ مِنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ فِي جُذُوعِ النَّخْلِ وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ أَيُّنَا أَشَدُّ عَذَابًا وَأَبْقَىٰ [20:71]

قَالَ ءَامَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ قَبۡلَ أَنۡ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحۡرَۖ فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيۡدِيَكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُم مِّنۡ خِلَٰفٖ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمۡ فِي جُذُوعِ ٱلنَّخۡلِ وَلَتَعۡلَمُنَّ أَيُّنَآ أَشَدُّ عَذَابٗا وَأَبۡقَىٰ


(20:71) Pharaoh said: "What! Did you believe in Him even before I permitted 
 you to do so? Surely, he must be your chief who taught you magic.5 
 Now I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides,6 
 and will crucify you on the trunks of palm-trees,7 and then you 
 will come to know which of us can inflict sterner and more lasting torment."8

### الآية 20:72

> قَالُوا لَنْ نُؤْثِرَكَ عَلَىٰ مَا جَاءَنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالَّذِي فَطَرَنَا ۖ فَاقْضِ مَا أَنْتَ قَاضٍ ۖ إِنَّمَا تَقْضِي هَٰذِهِ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا [20:72]

قَالُواْ لَن نُّؤۡثِرَكَ عَلَىٰ مَا جَآءَنَا مِنَ ٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ وَٱلَّذِي فَطَرَنَاۖ فَٱقۡضِ مَآ أَنتَ قَاضٍۖ إِنَّمَا تَقۡضِي هَٰذِهِ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَآ


(20:72) The magicians answered: "By Him Who has created us, we shall never 
 prefer you to the Truth after manifest Signs have come to us.9 So 
 decree whatever you will. Your decree will pertain, at the most, to the present 
 life of the world.

### الآية 20:73

> إِنَّا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّنَا لِيَغْفِرَ لَنَا خَطَايَانَا وَمَا أَكْرَهْتَنَا عَلَيْهِ مِنَ السِّحْرِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ [20:73]

إِنَّآ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّنَا لِيَغۡفِرَ لَنَا خَطَٰيَٰنَا وَمَآ أَكۡرَهۡتَنَا عَلَيۡهِ مِنَ ٱلسِّحۡرِۗ وَٱللَّهُ خَيۡرٞ وَأَبۡقَىٰٓ


(20:73) We believe in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and also forgive 
 us the practice of magic to which you had compelled us. Allah is the Best and 
 He alone will abide." 

---

### الآية 20:74

> إِنَّهُ مَنْ يَأْتِ رَبَّهُ مُجْرِمًا فَإِنَّ لَهُ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ [20:74]

إِنَّهُۥ مَن يَأۡتِ رَبَّهُۥ مُجۡرِمٗا فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحۡيَىٰ


(20:74) The truth is0 that Hell awaits him who comes to his Lord 
 laden with sin; he shall neither die in it nor live.1

---

### الآية 20:75

> وَمَنْ يَأْتِهِ مُؤْمِنًا قَدْ عَمِلَ الصَّالِحَاتِ فَأُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمُ الدَّرَجَاتُ الْعُلَىٰ [20:75]

وَمَن يَأۡتِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنٗا قَدۡ عَمِلَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ فَأُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱلدَّرَجَٰتُ ٱلۡعُلَىٰ


(20:75) But he who comes to Him with faith and righteous works shall be exalted 
 to high ranks, 

---

### الآية 20:76

> جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَاءُ مَنْ تَزَكَّىٰ [20:76]

جَنَّـٰتُ عَدۡنٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ


(20:76) and shall live for ever in everlasting Gardens beneath which rivers 
 flow. Such will be the reward of those who purify themselves.

### الآية 20:77

> وَلَقَدْ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي فَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقًا فِي الْبَحْرِ يَبَسًا لَا تَخَافُ دَرَكًا وَلَا تَخْشَىٰ [20:77]

وَلَقَدۡ أَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِي فَٱضۡرِبۡ لَهُمۡ طَرِيقٗا فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ يَبَسٗا لَّا تَخَٰفُ دَرَكٗا وَلَا تَخۡشَىٰ


(20:77) Most certainly We2 revealed to Moses: "Proceed with My 
 servants in the night and strike for them a dry path in the sea.3 
 Have no fear of being overtaken, nor be afraid of treading through the sea."

### الآية 20:78

> فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ بِجُنُودِهِ فَغَشِيَهُمْ مِنَ الْيَمِّ مَا غَشِيَهُمْ [20:78]

فَأَتۡبَعَهُمۡ فِرۡعَوۡنُ بِجُنُودِهِۦ فَغَشِيَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡيَمِّ مَا غَشِيَهُمۡ


(20:78) Pharaoh pursued them with his hosts, but they were fully overwhelmed 
 by the sea.4

---

### الآية 20:79

> وَأَضَلَّ فِرْعَوْنُ قَوْمَهُ وَمَا هَدَىٰ [20:79]

وَأَضَلَّ فِرۡعَوۡنُ قَوۡمَهُۥ وَمَا هَدَىٰ


(20:79) Pharaoh led his people astray; he did not guide them aright.5

---

### الآية 20:80

> يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ قَدْ أَنْجَيْنَاكُمْ مِنْ عَدُوِّكُمْ وَوَاعَدْنَاكُمْ جَانِبَ الطُّورِ الْأَيْمَنَ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَىٰ [20:80]

يَٰبَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ قَدۡ أَنجَيۡنَٰكُم مِّنۡ عَدُوِّكُمۡ وَوَٰعَدۡنَٰكُمۡ جَانِبَ ٱلطُّورِ ٱلۡأَيۡمَنَ وَنَزَّلۡنَا عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡمَنَّ وَٱلسَّلۡوَىٰ


(20:80) Children of Israel!6 We saved you from your enemy and 
 made a covenant with you on the right side of the Mount78 
 and sent down on you manna and quails,9

---

### الآية 20:81

> كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا فِيهِ فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبِي ۖ وَمَنْ يَحْلِلْ عَلَيْهِ غَضَبِي فَقَدْ هَوَىٰ [20:81]

كُلُواْ مِن طَيِّبَٰتِ مَا رَزَقۡنَٰكُمۡ وَلَا تَطۡغَوۡاْ فِيهِ فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيۡكُمۡ غَضَبِيۖ وَمَن يَحۡلِلۡ عَلَيۡهِ غَضَبِي فَقَدۡ هَوَىٰ


(20:81) saying: "Partake of the good things that We have provided for you, 
 but do not transgress lest My wrath fall upon you; for he upon whom My wrath 
 falls is ruined. 

---

### الآية 20:82

> وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٌ لِمَنْ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَىٰ [20:82]

وَإِنِّي لَغَفَّارٞ لِّمَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحٗا ثُمَّ ٱهۡتَدَىٰ


(20:82) But I am indeed Most Forgiving to him who repents and believes and 
 does righteous works and keeps to the Right Way."0

---

### الآية 20:83

> ۞ وَمَا أَعْجَلَكَ عَنْ قَوْمِكَ يَا مُوسَىٰ [20:83]

۞وَمَآ أَعۡجَلَكَ عَن قَوۡمِكَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ


(20:83) "But, O Moses,1 what has made you come in haste from 
 your people?"2

### الآية 20:84

> قَالَ هُمْ أُولَاءِ عَلَىٰ أَثَرِي وَعَجِلْتُ إِلَيْكَ رَبِّ لِتَرْضَىٰ [20:84]

قَالَ هُمۡ أُوْلَآءِ عَلَىٰٓ أَثَرِي وَعَجِلۡتُ إِلَيۡكَ رَبِّ لِتَرۡضَىٰ


(20:84) He said: "They are close behind me, and I hastened to You, Lord, 
 that You may be pleased with me."

### الآية 20:85

> قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدْ فَتَنَّا قَوْمَكَ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُ السَّامِرِيُّ [20:85]

قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدۡ فَتَنَّا قَوۡمَكَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُ ٱلسَّامِرِيُّ


(20:85) Said He: "Verily We tested your people in your absence and the Samiri3 
 led them astray." 

---

### الآية 20:86

> فَرَجَعَ مُوسَىٰ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ غَضْبَانَ أَسِفًا ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَلَمْ يَعِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ وَعْدًا حَسَنًا ۚ أَفَطَالَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْعَهْدُ أَمْ أَرَدْتُمْ أَنْ يَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُمْ مَوْعِدِي [20:86]

فَرَجَعَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ غَضۡبَٰنَ أَسِفٗاۚ قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ أَلَمۡ يَعِدۡكُمۡ رَبُّكُمۡ وَعۡدًا حَسَنًاۚ أَفَطَالَ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡعَهۡدُ أَمۡ أَرَدتُّمۡ أَن يَحِلَّ عَلَيۡكُمۡ غَضَبٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمۡ فَأَخۡلَفۡتُم مَّوۡعِدِي


(20:86) Moses returned to his people full of wrath and grief, and said: "My 
 people! Has your Lord not made good an excellent promise He made to you?4 
 And has a long time passed since those promises were fulfilled?5 
 Or was it to incur the wrath of your Lord that you broke your promise with me?"6

### الآية 20:87

> قَالُوا مَا أَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا حُمِّلْنَا أَوْزَارًا مِنْ زِينَةِ الْقَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنَاهَا فَكَذَٰلِكَ أَلْقَى السَّامِرِيُّ [20:87]

قَالُواْ مَآ أَخۡلَفۡنَا مَوۡعِدَكَ بِمَلۡكِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا حُمِّلۡنَآ أَوۡزَارٗا مِّن زِينَةِ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ فَقَذَفۡنَٰهَا فَكَذَٰلِكَ أَلۡقَى ٱلسَّامِرِيُّ


(20:87) They answered: "We did not break our promise with you out of our 
 own volition; but we were laden with the load of people's ornaments, and we 
 simply threw them down7(into the fire), and8 the Samiri 
 also threw down something, 

---

### الآية 20:88

> فَأَخْرَجَ لَهُمْ عِجْلًا جَسَدًا لَهُ خُوَارٌ فَقَالُوا هَٰذَا إِلَٰهُكُمْ وَإِلَٰهُ مُوسَىٰ فَنَسِيَ [20:88]

فَأَخۡرَجَ لَهُمۡ عِجۡلٗا جَسَدٗا لَّهُۥ خُوَارٞ فَقَالُواْ هَٰذَآ إِلَٰهُكُمۡ وَإِلَٰهُ مُوسَىٰ فَنَسِيَ


(20:88) and brought out of there (from the molten gold) the effigy of a calf 
 that lowed." The people cried out: "This is your deity and the deity of Moses, 
 whom Moses has forgotten."

### الآية 20:89

> أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَلَّا يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَوْلًا وَلَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا نَفْعًا [20:89]

أَفَلَا يَرَوۡنَ أَلَّا يَرۡجِعُ إِلَيۡهِمۡ قَوۡلٗا وَلَا يَمۡلِكُ لَهُمۡ ضَرّٗا وَلَا نَفۡعٗا


(20:89) Did they not see that it did not return a word to them, and had no 
 power either to hurt them or to cause them any benefit?

### الآية 20:90

> وَلَقَدْ قَالَ لَهُمْ هَارُونُ مِنْ قَبْلُ يَا قَوْمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنْتُمْ بِهِ ۖ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ فَاتَّبِعُونِي وَأَطِيعُوا أَمْرِي [20:90]

وَلَقَدۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ هَٰرُونُ مِن قَبۡلُ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنتُم بِهِۦۖ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ فَٱتَّبِعُونِي وَأَطِيعُوٓاْ أَمۡرِي


(20:90) Certainly Aaron had said to them even before (the return of Moses): 
 "My people, you were fallen into error because of the calf. Surely your Lord 
 is Most Compassionate; so follow me and obey my command."

### الآية 20:91

> قَالُوا لَنْ نَبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفِينَ حَتَّىٰ يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ [20:91]

قَالُواْ لَن نَّبۡرَحَ عَلَيۡهِ عَٰكِفِينَ حَتَّىٰ يَرۡجِعَ إِلَيۡنَا مُوسَىٰ


(20:91) But they answered: "By no means shall we cease to worship it until 
 Moses returns to us."9

### الآية 20:92

> قَالَ يَا هَارُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوا [20:92]

قَالَ يَٰهَٰرُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذۡ رَأَيۡتَهُمۡ ضَلُّوٓاْ


(20:92) (After rebuking his people) Moses turned to Aaron and said: "Aaron! 
 What prevented you, when you saw them going astray, 

---

### الآية 20:93

> أَلَّا تَتَّبِعَنِ ۖ أَفَعَصَيْتَ أَمْرِي [20:93]

أَلَّا تَتَّبِعَنِۖ أَفَعَصَيۡتَ أَمۡرِي


(20:93) from following my way? Have you disobeyed my command?"0

### الآية 20:94

> قَالَ يَا ابْنَ أُمَّ لَا تَأْخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِي وَلَا بِرَأْسِي ۖ إِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ تَقُولَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِي [20:94]

قَالَ يَبۡنَؤُمَّ لَا تَأۡخُذۡ بِلِحۡيَتِي وَلَا بِرَأۡسِيٓۖ إِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَن تَقُولَ فَرَّقۡتَ بَيۡنَ بَنِيٓ إِسۡرَـٰٓءِيلَ وَلَمۡ تَرۡقُبۡ قَوۡلِي


(20:94) Aaron answered: "Son of my mother! Do not seize me with my beard, 
 nor by (the hair of) my head.1 I feared that on returning you might 
 say: 'You sowed discord among the Children of Israel, and did not pay heed to 
 my words.'"2

### الآية 20:95

> قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكَ يَا سَامِرِيُّ [20:95]

قَالَ فَمَا خَطۡبُكَ يَٰسَٰمِرِيُّ


(20:95) Moses said: "What, then, is your case, O Samiri?" 

---

### الآية 20:96

> قَالَ بَصُرْتُ بِمَا لَمْ يَبْصُرُوا بِهِ فَقَبَضْتُ قَبْضَةً مِنْ أَثَرِ الرَّسُولِ فَنَبَذْتُهَا وَكَذَٰلِكَ سَوَّلَتْ لِي نَفْسِي [20:96]

قَالَ بَصُرۡتُ بِمَا لَمۡ يَبۡصُرُواْ بِهِۦ فَقَبَضۡتُ قَبۡضَةٗ مِّنۡ أَثَرِ ٱلرَّسُولِ فَنَبَذۡتُهَا وَكَذَٰلِكَ سَوَّلَتۡ لِي نَفۡسِي


(20:96) He answered: "I saw what the people did not see. So I took a handful 
 of dust from the trail of the Messenger, and I flung it (into the fire). Thus 
 did my mind prompt me."3

### الآية 20:97

> قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِي الْحَيَاةِ أَنْ تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِدًا لَنْ تُخْلَفَهُ ۖ وَانْظُرْ إِلَىٰ إِلَٰهِكَ الَّذِي ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفًا ۖ لَنُحَرِّقَنَّهُ ثُمَّ لَنَنْسِفَنَّهُ فِي الْيَمِّ نَسْفًا [20:97]

قَالَ فَٱذۡهَبۡ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ أَن تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَۖ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوۡعِدٗا لَّن تُخۡلَفَهُۥۖ وَٱنظُرۡ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِكَ ٱلَّذِي ظَلۡتَ عَلَيۡهِ عَاكِفٗاۖ لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَنسِفَنَّهُۥ فِي ٱلۡيَمِّ نَسۡفًا


(20:97) Moses said: "Be gone, then. All your life you shall cry: 'Untouchable.'4 
 There awaits a term for your reckoning that you cannot fail to keep. Now look 
 at your god that you devotedly adored: We shall burn it and scatter its remains 
 in the sea. 

---

### الآية 20:98

> إِنَّمَا إِلَٰهُكُمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا [20:98]

إِنَّمَآ إِلَٰهُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۚ وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَيۡءٍ عِلۡمٗا


(20:98) Your God is none else than Allah, beside Whom there is no god. His 
 knowledge embraces everything."

### الآية 20:99

> كَذَٰلِكَ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ مَا قَدْ سَبَقَ ۚ وَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ مِنْ لَدُنَّا ذِكْرًا [20:99]

كَذَٰلِكَ نَقُصُّ عَلَيۡكَ مِنۡ أَنۢبَآءِ مَا قَدۡ سَبَقَۚ وَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَٰكَ مِن لَّدُنَّا ذِكۡرٗا


(20:99) (O Muhammad),5 thus do We recount to you the events of 
 the past, and We have bestowed upon you from Ourself an admonition.6

---

### الآية 20:100

> مَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُ يَحْمِلُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وِزْرًا [20:100]

مَّنۡ أَعۡرَضَ عَنۡهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَحۡمِلُ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ وِزۡرًا


(20:100) He who turns away from it will surely bear a heavy burden on the 
 Day of Resurrection, 

---

### الآية 20:101

> خَالِدِينَ فِيهِ ۖ وَسَاءَ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حِمْلًا [20:101]

خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهِۖ وَسَآءَ لَهُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ حِمۡلٗا


(20:101) and will abide under this burden for ever. Grievous shall be the 
 burden on the Day of Resurrection,7

---

### الآية 20:102

> يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ ۚ وَنَحْشُرُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ زُرْقًا [20:102]

يَوۡمَ يُنفَخُ فِي ٱلصُّورِۚ وَنَحۡشُرُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ يَوۡمَئِذٖ زُرۡقٗا


(20:102) the Day when the Trumpet shall be sounded8 and We shall 
 muster the sinners, their eyes turned blue with terror.9

---

### الآية 20:103

> يَتَخَافَتُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِنْ لَبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا عَشْرًا [20:103]

يَتَخَٰفَتُونَ بَيۡنَهُمۡ إِن لَّبِثۡتُمۡ إِلَّا عَشۡرٗا


(20:103) They shall whisper among themselves: "You stayed on the earth barely 
 ten days."0

### الآية 20:104

> نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذْ يَقُولُ أَمْثَلُهُمْ طَرِيقَةً إِنْ لَبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا يَوْمًا [20:104]

نَّحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذۡ يَقُولُ أَمۡثَلُهُمۡ طَرِيقَةً إِن لَّبِثۡتُمۡ إِلَّا يَوۡمٗا


(20:104) We know well1 what they will say to one another: We 
 also know that even the most cautious in his estimate will say: "You lived in 
 the world no more than a day."2

### الآية 20:105

> وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْجِبَالِ فَقُلْ يَنْسِفُهَا رَبِّي نَسْفًا [20:105]

وَيَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلۡجِبَالِ فَقُلۡ يَنسِفُهَا رَبِّي نَسۡفٗا


(20:105) They ask you concerning the mountains: "Where will they go?" Say: 
 "My Lord will scatter them like dust, 

---

### الآية 20:106

> فَيَذَرُهَا قَاعًا صَفْصَفًا [20:106]

فَيَذَرُهَا قَاعٗا صَفۡصَفٗا


(20:106) and leave the earth a levelled plain 

---

### الآية 20:107

> لَا تَرَىٰ فِيهَا عِوَجًا وَلَا أَمْتًا [20:107]

لَّا تَرَىٰ فِيهَا عِوَجٗا وَلَآ أَمۡتٗا


(20:107) in which you shall find no crookedness or curvature.3

---

### الآية 20:108

> يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَّبِعُونَ الدَّاعِيَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُ ۖ وَخَشَعَتِ الْأَصْوَاتُ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ فَلَا تَسْمَعُ إِلَّا هَمْسًا [20:108]

يَوۡمَئِذٖ يَتَّبِعُونَ ٱلدَّاعِيَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُۥۖ وَخَشَعَتِ ٱلۡأَصۡوَاتُ لِلرَّحۡمَٰنِ فَلَا تَسۡمَعُ إِلَّا هَمۡسٗا


(20:108) On that Day people shall follow straight on to the call of the summoner, 
 no one daring to show any haughtiness. Their voices shall be hushed before the 
 Most Compassionate Lord, so that you will hear nothing but a whispering murmur.4

---

### الآية 20:109

> يَوْمَئِذٍ لَا تَنْفَعُ الشَّفَاعَةُ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَرَضِيَ لَهُ قَوْلًا [20:109]

يَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّا تَنفَعُ ٱلشَّفَٰعَةُ إِلَّا مَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ وَرَضِيَ لَهُۥ قَوۡلٗا


(20:109) On that Day intercession shall not avail save of him whom the Most 
 Compassionate Lord permits, and whose word of intercession is pleasing to Him.5

---

### الآية 20:110

> يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِهِ عِلْمًا [20:110]

يَعۡلَمُ مَا بَيۡنَ أَيۡدِيهِمۡ وَمَا خَلۡفَهُمۡ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٗا


(20:110) He knows all that is ahead of them and all that is behind them, 
 while the others do not know.6

---

### الآية 20:111

> ۞ وَعَنَتِ الْوُجُوهُ لِلْحَيِّ الْقَيُّومِ ۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ حَمَلَ ظُلْمًا [20:111]

۞وَعَنَتِ ٱلۡوُجُوهُ لِلۡحَيِّ ٱلۡقَيُّومِۖ وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَنۡ حَمَلَ ظُلۡمٗا


(20:111) All faces shall be humbled before the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting 
 Lord, and he who bears the burden of iniquity will have failed; 

---

### الآية 20:112

> وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَا يَخَافُ ظُلْمًا وَلَا هَضْمًا [20:112]

وَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤۡمِنٞ فَلَا يَخَافُ ظُلۡمٗا وَلَا هَضۡمٗا


(20:112) but whosoever does righteous works, being a believer, shall have 
 no fear of suffering wrong or loss."7

---

### الآية 20:113

> وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا وَصَرَّفْنَا فِيهِ مِنَ الْوَعِيدِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ أَوْ يُحْدِثُ لَهُمْ ذِكْرًا [20:113]

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ قُرۡءَانًا عَرَبِيّٗا وَصَرَّفۡنَا فِيهِ مِنَ ٱلۡوَعِيدِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَّقُونَ أَوۡ يُحۡدِثُ لَهُمۡ ذِكۡرٗا


(20:113) (O Muhammad), thus have We revealed this as an Arabic Qur'an8 
 and have expounded in it warning in diverse ways so that they may avoid evil 
 or become heedful.9

---

### الآية 20:114

> فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ ۗ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يُقْضَىٰ إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُ ۖ وَقُلْ رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا [20:114]

فَتَعَٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۗ وَلَا تَعۡجَلۡ بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يُقۡضَىٰٓ إِلَيۡكَ وَحۡيُهُۥۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدۡنِي عِلۡمٗا


(20:114) Exalted is Allah, the True King!0 Hasten not with reciting 
 the Qur'an before its revelation to you is finished, and pray: "Lord! Increase 
 me in knowledge."1

---

### الآية 20:115

> وَلَقَدْ عَهِدْنَا إِلَىٰ آدَمَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَنَسِيَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُ عَزْمًا [20:115]

وَلَقَدۡ عَهِدۡنَآ إِلَىٰٓ ءَادَمَ مِن قَبۡلُ فَنَسِيَ وَلَمۡ نَجِدۡ لَهُۥ عَزۡمٗا


(20:115) Most certainly We2 had given Adam a command before,3 
 but he forgot. We found him lacking in firmness of resolution.4

---

### الآية 20:116

> وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ [20:116]

وَإِذۡ قُلۡنَا لِلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ ٱسۡجُدُواْ لِأٓدَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓاْ إِلَّآ إِبۡلِيسَ أَبَىٰ


(20:116) Recall when We said to the angels: "Prostrate yourselves before 
 Adam"; all prostrated themselves save Iblis. He refused. 

---

### الآية 20:117

> فَقُلْنَا يَا آدَمُ إِنَّ هَٰذَا عَدُوٌّ لَكَ وَلِزَوْجِكَ فَلَا يُخْرِجَنَّكُمَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَتَشْقَىٰ [20:117]

فَقُلۡنَا يَـٰٓـَٔادَمُ إِنَّ هَٰذَا عَدُوّٞ لَّكَ وَلِزَوۡجِكَ فَلَا يُخۡرِجَنَّكُمَا مِنَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ فَتَشۡقَىٰٓ


(20:117) Then We said: "Adam!5 He is an enemy to you and to your 
 wife.6 So let him not drive both of you out of Paradise7 
 and plunge you into affliction, 

---

### الآية 20:118

> إِنَّ لَكَ أَلَّا تَجُوعَ فِيهَا وَلَا تَعْرَىٰ [20:118]

إِنَّ لَكَ أَلَّا تَجُوعَ فِيهَا وَلَا تَعۡرَىٰ


(20:118) (for in Paradise) neither are you hungry nor naked, 

---

### الآية 20:119

> وَأَنَّكَ لَا تَظْمَأُ فِيهَا وَلَا تَضْحَىٰ [20:119]

وَأَنَّكَ لَا تَظۡمَؤُاْ فِيهَا وَلَا تَضۡحَىٰ


(20:119) nor face thirst or scorching heat."8

---

### الآية 20:120

> فَوَسْوَسَ إِلَيْهِ الشَّيْطَانُ قَالَ يَا آدَمُ هَلْ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَىٰ شَجَرَةِ الْخُلْدِ وَمُلْكٍ لَا يَبْلَىٰ [20:120]

فَوَسۡوَسَ إِلَيۡهِ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ قَالَ يَـٰٓـَٔادَمُ هَلۡ أَدُلُّكَ عَلَىٰ شَجَرَةِ ٱلۡخُلۡدِ وَمُلۡكٖ لَّا يَبۡلَىٰ


(20:120) But Satan seduced him,9 saying: "Adam! Shall I direct 
 you to a tree of eternal life and an abiding kingdom?"0

### الآية 20:121

> فَأَكَلَا مِنْهَا فَبَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْآتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِنْ وَرَقِ الْجَنَّةِ ۚ وَعَصَىٰ آدَمُ رَبَّهُ فَغَوَىٰ [20:121]

فَأَكَلَا مِنۡهَا فَبَدَتۡ لَهُمَا سَوۡءَٰتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخۡصِفَانِ عَلَيۡهِمَا مِن وَرَقِ ٱلۡجَنَّةِۚ وَعَصَىٰٓ ءَادَمُ رَبَّهُۥ فَغَوَىٰ


(20:121) Then the two of them ate the fruit of that tree and their shameful 
 parts became revealed to each other, and they began to cover themselves with 
 the leaves from the Garden.1 Thus Adam disobeyed his Lord and strayed 
 into error.2

### الآية 20:122

> ثُمَّ اجْتَبَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ وَهَدَىٰ [20:122]

ثُمَّ ٱجۡتَبَٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَتَابَ عَلَيۡهِ وَهَدَىٰ


(20:122) Thereafter his Lord exalted him,3 accepted his repentance, 
 and bestowed guidance upon him, 

---

### الآية 20:123

> قَالَ اهْبِطَا مِنْهَا جَمِيعًا ۖ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ ۖ فَإِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُمْ مِنِّي هُدًى فَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ هُدَايَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشْقَىٰ [20:123]

قَالَ ٱهۡبِطَا مِنۡهَا جَمِيعَۢاۖ بَعۡضُكُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ عَدُوّٞۖ فَإِمَّا يَأۡتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّي هُدٗى فَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ هُدَايَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشۡقَىٰ


(20:123) and said:4 "Get down, both of you, (that is, man and 
 Satan), and be out of it; each of you shall be an enemy to the other. Henceforth 
 if there comes to you a guidance from Me, then whosoever follows My guidance 
 shall neither go astray nor suffer misery. 

---

### الآية 20:124

> وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْ ذِكْرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنْكًا وَنَحْشُرُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَعْمَىٰ [20:124]

وَمَنۡ أَعۡرَضَ عَن ذِكۡرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ مَعِيشَةٗ ضَنكٗا وَنَحۡشُرُهُۥ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ أَعۡمَىٰ


(20:124) But whosoever turns away from this Admonition from Me shall have 
 a straitened life;5 We shall raise him blind on the Day of Resurrection,"6

---

### الآية 20:125

> قَالَ رَبِّ لِمَ حَشَرْتَنِي أَعْمَىٰ وَقَدْ كُنْتُ بَصِيرًا [20:125]

قَالَ رَبِّ لِمَ حَشَرۡتَنِيٓ أَعۡمَىٰ وَقَدۡ كُنتُ بَصِيرٗا


(20:125) where-upon he will say: "Lord! Why have You raised me blind when 
 I had sight in the world?"

### الآية 20:126

> قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ أَتَتْكَ آيَاتُنَا فَنَسِيتَهَا ۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمَ تُنْسَىٰ [20:126]

قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ أَتَتۡكَ ءَايَٰتُنَا فَنَسِيتَهَاۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ تُنسَىٰ


(20:126) He will say: "Even so it is. Our Signs came to you and you ignored 
 them. So shall you be ignored this Day."7

---

### الآية 20:127

> وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي مَنْ أَسْرَفَ وَلَمْ يُؤْمِنْ بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِ ۚ وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبْقَىٰ [20:127]

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي مَنۡ أَسۡرَفَ وَلَمۡ يُؤۡمِنۢ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِۦۚ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبۡقَىٰٓ


(20:127) Thus do We requite him who transgresses and does not believe in 
 the signs of your Lord8 (during the life of the world); and surely 
 the punishment of the Hereafter is even more terrible and more enduring.

### الآية 20:128

> أَفَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِي مَسَاكِنِهِمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِأُولِي النُّهَىٰ [20:128]

أَفَلَمۡ يَهۡدِ لَهُمۡ كَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقُرُونِ يَمۡشُونَ فِي مَسَٰكِنِهِمۡۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّأُوْلِي ٱلنُّهَىٰ


(20:128) Did they9 not find any guidance in the fact that We 
 destroyed many nations in whose ruined dwelling-places they now walk about? 
 Surely there are many Signs in them for people endowed with wisdom.0

### الآية 20:129

> وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِنْ رَبِّكَ لَكَانَ لِزَامًا وَأَجَلٌ مُسَمًّى [20:129]

وَلَوۡلَا كَلِمَةٞ سَبَقَتۡ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَكَانَ لِزَامٗا وَأَجَلٞ مُّسَمّٗى


(20:129) Were it not for a word already gone from your Lord, the decree (of 
 their destruction) would have come to pass.

### الآية 20:130

> فَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا ۖ وَمِنْ آنَاءِ اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْ وَأَطْرَافَ النَّهَارِ لَعَلَّكَ تَرْضَىٰ [20:130]

فَٱصۡبِرۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ قَبۡلَ طُلُوعِ ٱلشَّمۡسِ وَقَبۡلَ غُرُوبِهَاۖ وَمِنۡ ءَانَآيِٕ ٱلَّيۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡ وَأَطۡرَافَ ٱلنَّهَارِ لَعَلَّكَ تَرۡضَىٰ


(20:130) So bear patiently with what they say. Glorify your Lord, praising 
 Him before sunrise and before sunset, and in the watches of the night,1 
 and glorify Him and at the ends of the day that you may attain to happiness.2

### الآية 20:131

> وَلَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجًا مِنْهُمْ زَهْرَةَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ ۚ وَرِزْقُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ [20:131]

وَلَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيۡنَيۡكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعۡنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزۡوَٰجٗا مِّنۡهُمۡ زَهۡرَةَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا لِنَفۡتِنَهُمۡ فِيهِۚ وَرِزۡقُ رَبِّكَ خَيۡرٞ وَأَبۡقَىٰ


(20:131) Do not turn your eyes covetously towards the embellishments of worldly 
 life that We have bestowed upon various kinds of people to test them. But the 
 clean provision bestowed upon you3 by your Lord is better and more 
 enduring.

### الآية 20:132

> وَأْمُرْ أَهْلَكَ بِالصَّلَاةِ وَاصْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَا ۖ لَا نَسْأَلُكَ رِزْقًا ۖ نَحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَ ۗ وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ [20:132]

وَأۡمُرۡ أَهۡلَكَ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱصۡطَبِرۡ عَلَيۡهَاۖ لَا نَسۡـَٔلُكَ رِزۡقٗاۖ نَّحۡنُ نَرۡزُقُكَۗ وَٱلۡعَٰقِبَةُ لِلتَّقۡوَىٰ


(20:132) Enjoin Prayer on your household,4 and do keep observing 
 it. We do not ask you for any worldly provision; rather, it is We Who provide 
 you, and ultimately the pious will end up the best.5

### الآية 20:133

> وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا يَأْتِينَا بِآيَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّهِ ۚ أَوَلَمْ تَأْتِهِمْ بَيِّنَةُ مَا فِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَىٰ [20:133]

وَقَالُواْ لَوۡلَا يَأۡتِينَا بِـَٔايَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦٓۚ أَوَلَمۡ تَأۡتِهِم بَيِّنَةُ مَا فِي ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلۡأُولَىٰ


(20:133) They ask: "Why does he not bring us a (miraculous) sign from his 
 Lord?" Has there not come to them a Book containing the teachings of the previous 
 scriptures?6

### الآية 20:134

> وَلَوْ أَنَّا أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ بِعَذَابٍ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ لَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا لَوْلَا أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولًا فَنَتَّبِعَ آيَاتِكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ نَذِلَّ وَنَخْزَىٰ [20:134]

وَلَوۡ أَنَّآ أَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُم بِعَذَابٖ مِّن قَبۡلِهِۦ لَقَالُواْ رَبَّنَا لَوۡلَآ أَرۡسَلۡتَ إِلَيۡنَا رَسُولٗا فَنَتَّبِعَ ءَايَٰتِكَ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن نَّذِلَّ وَنَخۡزَىٰ


(20:134) Had We destroyed them through some calamity before his coming, they 
 would have said: "Our Lord! Why did You not send any Messenger to us that we 
 might have followed Your signs before being humbled and disgraced?"

### الآية 20:135

> قُلْ كُلٌّ مُتَرَبِّصٌ فَتَرَبَّصُوا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَصْحَابُ الصِّرَاطِ السَّوِيِّ وَمَنِ اهْتَدَىٰ [20:135]

قُلۡ كُلّٞ مُّتَرَبِّصٞ فَتَرَبَّصُواْۖ فَسَتَعۡلَمُونَ مَنۡ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ ٱلسَّوِيِّ وَمَنِ ٱهۡتَدَىٰ


(20:135) Tell them, (O Muhammad): "Everyone is waiting for his end.7 
 Wait, then, and you will soon know who are the people of the Right Way, and 
 are rightly-guided."
