### الآية 26:1

(1) Ṭā, Seen, Meem.\[1043\]

### الآية 26:2

> تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ [26:2]

(2) These are the verses of the clear Book.

### الآية 26:3

> لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ [26:3]

(3) Perhaps, \[O Muḥammad\], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.

### الآية 26:4

> إِنْ نَشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ آيَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَاقُهُمْ لَهَا خَاضِعِينَ [26:4]

(4) If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.\[1044\]

\[1044\]- i.e., they would be compelled to believe.

### الآية 26:5

> وَمَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ ذِكْرٍ مِنَ الرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ [26:5]

(5) And no mention \[i.e., revelation\] comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.

### الآية 26:6

> فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنْبَاءُ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ [26:6]

(6) For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.

### الآية 26:7

> أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ [26:7]

(7) Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?

### الآية 26:8

> إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ [26:8]

(8) Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

### الآية 26:9

> وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ [26:9]

(9) And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

> وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ ائْتِ الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ [26:10]

(10) And \[mention\] when your Lord called Moses, \[saying\], "Go to the wrongdoing people -

### الآية 26:11

> قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ [26:11]

(11) The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allāh?"

### الآية 26:12

> قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يُكَذِّبُونِ [26:12]

(12) He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me

### الآية 26:13

> وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِي وَلَا يَنْطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَارُونَ [26:13]

(13) And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.

### الآية 26:14

> وَلَهُمْ عَلَيَّ ذَنْبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَنْ يَقْتُلُونِ [26:14]

(14) And they have upon me a \[claim due to\] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."

### الآية 26:15

> قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَاذْهَبَا بِآيَاتِنَا ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ مُسْتَمِعُونَ [26:15]

(15) \[Allāh\] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.

### الآية 26:16

> فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَا إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:16]

(16) Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers\[1045\] of the Lord of the worlds,
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1045\]- The singular form in Arabic indicates that both were sent with a single message.

### الآية 26:17

> أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ [26:17]

(17) \[Commanded to say\], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"

### الآية 26:18

> قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ [26:18]

(18) \[Pharaoh\] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?

### الآية 26:19

> وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ الَّتِي فَعَلْتَ وَأَنْتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ [26:19]

(19) And \[then\] you did your deed which you did,\[1046\] and you were of the ungrateful."
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1046\]- i.e., striking the Copt, who died as a result.

### الآية 26:20

> قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَا إِذًا وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ [26:20]

(20) \[Moses\] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray \[i.e., ignorant\].

### الآية 26:21

> فَفَرَرْتُ مِنْكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [26:21]

(21) So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me judgement \[i.e., wisdom and prophet hood\] and appointed me \[as one\] of the messengers.

### الآية 26:22

> وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّدْتَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ [26:22]

(22) And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"

### الآية 26:23

> قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:23]

(23) Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"

### الآية 26:24

> قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُوقِنِينَ [26:24]

(24) \[Moses\] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."

### الآية 26:25

> قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ [26:25]

(25) \[Pharaoh\] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"

### الآية 26:26

> قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ [26:26]

(26) \[Moses\] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."

### الآية 26:27

> قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ الَّذِي أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ [26:27]

(27) \[Pharaoh\] said,\[1047\] "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1047\]- Angrily addressing those present.

### الآية 26:28

> قَالَ رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ [26:28]

(28) \[Moses\] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."

### الآية 26:29

> قَالَ لَئِنِ اتَّخَذْتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيْرِي لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُونِينَ [26:29]

(29) \[Pharaoh\] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."

### الآية 26:30

> قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَيْءٍ مُبِينٍ [26:30]

(30) \[Moses\] said, "Even if I brought you something \[i.e., proof\] manifest?"

### الآية 26:31

> قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِ إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ [26:31]

(31) \[Pharaoh\] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."

### الآية 26:32

> فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُبِينٌ [26:32]

(32) So \[Moses\] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.\[1048\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1048\]- i.e., clearly genuine.

### الآية 26:33

> وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَاءُ لِلنَّاظِرِينَ [26:33]

(33) And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.

### الآية 26:34

> قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ [26:34]

(34) \[Pharaoh\] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.

### الآية 26:35

> يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُخْرِجَكُمْ مِنْ أَرْضِكُمْ بِسِحْرِهِ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ [26:35]

(35) He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"

### الآية 26:36

> قَالُوا أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَابْعَثْ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ [26:36]

(36) They said, "Postpone \[the matter of\] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers

### الآية 26:37

> يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ [26:37]

(37) Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician."

### الآية 26:38

> فَجُمِعَ السَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُومٍ [26:38]

(38) So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.\[1049\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1049\]- i.e., the morning of the day of festival. See 20:58-59.

### الآية 26:39

> وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُجْتَمِعُونَ [26:39]

(39) And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate.

### الآية 26:40

> لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِنْ كَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ [26:40]

(40) That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"

### الآية 26:41

> فَلَمَّا جَاءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِنْ كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ [26:41]

(41) And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"

### الآية 26:42

> قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ [26:42]

(42) He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near \[to me\]."

### الآية 26:43

> قَالَ لَهُمْ مُوسَىٰ أَلْقُوا مَا أَنْتُمْ مُلْقُونَ [26:43]

(43) Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."

### الآية 26:44

> فَأَلْقَوْا حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْغَالِبُونَ [26:44]

(44) So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."

### الآية 26:45

> فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ [26:45]

(45) Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.

### الآية 26:46

> فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ [26:46]

(46) So the magicians fell down in prostration \[to Allāh\].

### الآية 26:47

> قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:47]

(47) They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,

### الآية 26:48

> رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ [26:48]

(48) The Lord of Moses and Aaron."

### الآية 26:49

> قَالَ آمَنْتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ مِنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ [26:49]

(49) \[Pharaoh\] said, "You believed him \[i.e., Moses\] before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."

### الآية 26:50

> قَالُوا لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنْقَلِبُونَ [26:50]

(50) They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.

### الآية 26:51

> إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَنْ كُنَّا أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [26:51]

(51) Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."

### الآية 26:52

> ۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي إِنَّكُمْ مُتَّبَعُونَ [26:52]

(52) And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."

### الآية 26:53

> فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ [26:53]

(53) Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers\[1050\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1050\]- Recruiters of an army to prevent the emigration of the Children of Israel.

### الآية 26:54

> إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ [26:54]

(54) \[And said\], "Indeed, those are but a small band,

### الآية 26:55

> وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَائِظُونَ [26:55]

(55) And indeed, they are enraging us,

### الآية 26:56

> وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَاذِرُونَ [26:56]

(56) And indeed, we are a cautious society..."

### الآية 26:57

> فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُمْ مِنْ جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ [26:57]

(57) So We removed them from gardens and springs

### الآية 26:58

> وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ [26:58]

(58) And treasures and honorable station\[1051\] -
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1051\]- Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) caused them to abandon their wealth and property in pursuit of the Israelites.

### الآية 26:59

> كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ [26:59]

(59) Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.

### الآية 26:60

> فَأَتْبَعُوهُمْ مُشْرِقِينَ [26:60]

(60) So they pursued them at sunrise.

### الآية 26:61

> فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ [26:61]

(61) And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"

### الآية 26:62

> قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ [26:62]

(62) \[Moses\] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."

### الآية 26:63

> فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ اضْرِبْ بِعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ ۖ فَانْفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيمِ [26:63]

(63) Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.

### الآية 26:64

> وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْآخَرِينَ [26:64]

(64) And We advanced thereto the others \[i.e., the pursuers\].

### الآية 26:65

> وَأَنْجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ [26:65]

(65) And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.

### الآية 26:66

> ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ [26:66]

(66) Then We drowned the others.

### الآية 26:67

> إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ [26:67]

(67) Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

### الآية 26:68

> وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ [26:68]

(68) And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

### الآية 26:69

> وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ [26:69]

(69) And recite to them the news of Abraham,

### الآية 26:70

> إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ [26:70]

(70) When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"

### الآية 26:71

> قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَاكِفِينَ [26:71]

(71) They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."

### الآية 26:72

> قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ [26:72]

(72) He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?

### الآية 26:73

> أَوْ يَنْفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ [26:73]

(73) Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?"

### الآية 26:74

> قَالُوا بَلْ وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ [26:74]

(74) They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."

### الآية 26:75

> قَالَ أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ [26:75]

(75) He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,

### الآية 26:76

> أَنْتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمُ الْأَقْدَمُونَ [26:76]

(76) You and your ancient forefathers?

### الآية 26:77

> فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِي إِلَّا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:77]

(77) Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,\[1052\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1052\]- The people worshipped idols in addition to Allāh.

### الآية 26:78

> الَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ [26:78]

(78) Who created me, and He \[it is who\] guides me.

### الآية 26:79

> وَالَّذِي هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِ [26:79]

(79) And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.

### الآية 26:80

> وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ [26:80]

(80) And when I am ill, it is He who cures me

### الآية 26:81

> وَالَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ [26:81]

(81) And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life

### الآية 26:82

> وَالَّذِي أَطْمَعُ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ [26:82]

(82) And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."

### الآية 26:83

> رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ [26:83]

(83) \[And he said\], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.

### الآية 26:84

> وَاجْعَلْ لِي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ [26:84]

(84) And grant me a mention \[i.e., reputation\] of honor among later generations.

### الآية 26:85

> وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنْ وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ [26:85]

(85) And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.

### الآية 26:86

> وَاغْفِرْ لِأَبِي إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ [26:86]

(86) And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.

### الآية 26:87

> وَلَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ [26:87]

(87) And do not disgrace me on the Day they are \[all\] resurrected -

### الآية 26:88

> يَوْمَ لَا يَنْفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ [26:88]

(88) The Day when there will not benefit \[anyone\] wealth or children

### الآية 26:89

> إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ [26:89]

(89) But only one who comes to Allāh with a sound heart."

### الآية 26:90

> وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ [26:90]

(90) And Paradise will be brought near \[that Day\] to the righteous.

### الآية 26:91

> وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ [26:91]

(91) And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,

### الآية 26:92

> وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ [26:92]

(92) And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship

### الآية 26:93

> مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ هَلْ يَنْصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنْتَصِرُونَ [26:93]

(93) Other than Allāh? Can they help you or help themselves?"

### الآية 26:94

> فَكُبْكِبُوا فِيهَا هُمْ وَالْغَاوُونَ [26:94]

(94) So they will be overturned into it \[i.e., Hellfire\], they and the deviators

### الآية 26:95

> وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ [26:95]

(95) And the soldiers of Iblees, all together.

### الآية 26:96

> قَالُوا وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ [26:96]

(96) They will say while they dispute therein,

### الآية 26:97

> تَاللَّهِ إِنْ كُنَّا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ [26:97]

(97) "By Allāh, we were indeed in manifest error

### الآية 26:98

> إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُمْ بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:98]

(98) When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.

### الآية 26:99

> وَمَا أَضَلَّنَا إِلَّا الْمُجْرِمُونَ [26:99]

(99) And no one misguided us except the criminals.

### الآية 26:100

> فَمَا لَنَا مِنْ شَافِعِينَ [26:100]

(100) So now we have no intercessors

### الآية 26:101

> وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ [26:101]

(101) And not a devoted friend.

### الآية 26:102

> فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [26:102]

(102) Then if we only had a return \[to the world\] and could be of the believers..."\[1053\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1053\]- The conclusion of this verse is estimated as "...we would do this or that."

### الآية 26:103

> إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ [26:103]

(103) Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

### الآية 26:104

> وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ [26:104]

(104) And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

### الآية 26:105

> كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [26:105]

(105) The people of Noah denied the messengers\[1054\]

### الآية 26:106

> إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ [26:106]

(106) When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?

### الآية 26:107

> إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ [26:107]

(107) Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

### الآية 26:108

> فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ [26:108]

(108) So fear Allāh and obey me.

### الآية 26:109

> وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:109]

(109) And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

### الآية 26:110

> فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ [26:110]

(110) So fear Allāh and obey me."

### الآية 26:111

> ۞ قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الْأَرْذَلُونَ [26:111]

(111) They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest \[class of people\]?"

### الآية 26:112

> قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِي بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ [26:112]

(112) He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do?

### الآية 26:113

> إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّي ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ [26:113]

(113) Their account is only upon my Lord, if you \[could\] perceive.

### الآية 26:114

> وَمَا أَنَا بِطَارِدِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [26:114]

(114) And I am not one to drive away the believers.

### الآية 26:115

> إِنْ أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ [26:115]

(115) I am only a clear warner."

### الآية 26:116

> قَالُوا لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهِ يَا نُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمَرْجُومِينَ [26:116]

(116) They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned."

### الآية 26:117

> قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي كَذَّبُونِ [26:117]

(117) He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.

### الآية 26:118

> فَافْتَحْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِي وَمَنْ مَعِيَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [26:118]

(118) Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers."

### الآية 26:119

> فَأَنْجَيْنَاهُ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ [26:119]

(119) So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.

### الآية 26:120

> ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ الْبَاقِينَ [26:120]

(120) Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones.

### الآية 26:121

> إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ [26:121]

(121) Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

### الآية 26:122

> وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ [26:122]

(122) And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

### الآية 26:123

> كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [26:123]

(123) ʿAad denied the messengers

### الآية 26:124

> إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ [26:124]

(124) When their brother Hūd said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?

### الآية 26:125

> إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ [26:125]

(125) Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

### الآية 26:126

> فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ [26:126]

(126) So fear Allāh and obey me.

### الآية 26:127

> وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:127]

(127) And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

### الآية 26:128

> أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ آيَةً تَعْبَثُونَ [26:128]

(128) Do you construct on every elevation a sign,\[1055\] amusing yourselves,
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1055\]- i.e., a symbol or indication of their wealth and power. They used to build lofty structures along the road to be seen by all who passed by.

### الآية 26:129

> وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ [26:129]

(129) And take for yourselves constructions \[i.e., palaces and fortresses\] that you might abide eternally?

### الآية 26:130

> وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُمْ بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ [26:130]

(130) And when you strike, you strike as tyrants.

### الآية 26:131

> فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ [26:131]

(131) So fear Allāh and obey me.

### الآية 26:132

> وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي أَمَدَّكُمْ بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ [26:132]

(132) And fear He who provided you with that which you know,

### الآية 26:133

> أَمَدَّكُمْ بِأَنْعَامٍ وَبَنِينَ [26:133]

(133) Provided you with grazing livestock and children

### الآية 26:134

> وَجَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ [26:134]

(134) And gardens and springs.

### الآية 26:135

> إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ [26:135]

(135) Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."

### الآية 26:136

> قَالُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْنَا أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُنْ مِنَ الْوَاعِظِينَ [26:136]

(136) They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.

### الآية 26:137

> إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا خُلُقُ الْأَوَّلِينَ [26:137]

(137) This is not but the custom of the former peoples,

### الآية 26:138

> وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ [26:138]

(138) And we are not to be punished."

### الآية 26:139

> فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ [26:139]

(139) And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

### الآية 26:140

> وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ [26:140]

(140) And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

### الآية 26:141

> كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [26:141]

(141) Thamūd denied the messengers

### الآية 26:142

> إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَالِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ [26:142]

(142) When their brother Ṣāliḥ said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?

### الآية 26:143

> إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ [26:143]

(143) Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

### الآية 26:144

> فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ [26:144]

(144) So fear Allāh and obey me.

### الآية 26:145

> وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:145]

(145) And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

### الآية 26:146

> أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِي مَا هَاهُنَا آمِنِينَ [26:146]

(146) Will you be left in what is here, secure \[from death\],

### الآية 26:147

> فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ [26:147]

(147) Within gardens and springs

### الآية 26:148

> وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ [26:148]

(148) And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?

### الآية 26:149

> وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَارِهِينَ [26:149]

(149) And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.

### الآية 26:150

> فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ [26:150]

(150) So fear Allāh and obey me.

### الآية 26:151

> وَلَا تُطِيعُوا أَمْرَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ [26:151]

(151) And do not obey the order of the transgressors,

### الآية 26:152

> الَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ [26:152]

(152) Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend."

### الآية 26:153

> قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ [26:153]

(153) They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.

### الآية 26:154

> مَا أَنْتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِآيَةٍ إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ [26:154]

(154) You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."

### الآية 26:155

> قَالَ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةٌ لَهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُومٍ [26:155]

(155) He said, "This is a she-camel.\[1056\] For her is a \[time of\] drink, and for you is a \[time of\] drink, \[each\] on a known day.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1056\]- Miraculously sent to them as a sign by Allāh.

### الآية 26:156

> وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ [26:156]

(156) And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."

### الآية 26:157

> فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا نَادِمِينَ [26:157]

(157) But they hamstrung her and so became regretful.

### الآية 26:158

> فَأَخَذَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ [26:158]

(158) And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

### الآية 26:159

> وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ [26:159]

(159) And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

### الآية 26:160

> كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [26:160]

(160) The people of Lot denied the messengers

### الآية 26:161

> إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ [26:161]

(161) When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?

### الآية 26:162

> إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ [26:162]

(162) Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

### الآية 26:163

> فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ [26:163]

(163) So fear Allāh and obey me.

### الآية 26:164

> وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:164]

(164) And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

### الآية 26:165

> أَتَأْتُونَ الذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:165]

(165) Do you approach males among the worlds\[1057\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1057\]- i.e., Are there, out of all Allāh's creatures, any besides you who commit this unnatural act?

### الآية 26:166

> وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِكُمْ ۚ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ [26:166]

(166) And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing."

### الآية 26:167

> قَالُوا لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهِ يَا لُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُخْرَجِينَ [26:167]

(167) They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted."

### الآية 26:168

> قَالَ إِنِّي لِعَمَلِكُمْ مِنَ الْقَالِينَ [26:168]

(168) He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest \[it\].

### الآية 26:169

> رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهْلِي مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ [26:169]

(169) My Lord, save me and my family from \[the consequence of\] what they do."

### الآية 26:170

> فَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ [26:170]

(170) So We saved him and his family, all,

### الآية 26:171

> إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ [26:171]

(171) Except an old woman\[1058\] among those who remained behind.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1058\]- Lot's wife, who had collaborated with the evildoers.

### الآية 26:172

> ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ [26:172]

(172) Then We destroyed the others.

### الآية 26:173

> وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ مَطَرًا ۖ فَسَاءَ مَطَرُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ [26:173]

(173) And We rained upon them a rain \[of stones\], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.

### الآية 26:174

> إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ [26:174]

(174) Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

### الآية 26:175

> وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ [26:175]

(175) And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

### الآية 26:176

> كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [26:176]

(176) The companions of the thicket \[i.e., the people of Madyan\] denied the messengers

### الآية 26:177

> إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ [26:177]

(177) When Shuʿayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?

### الآية 26:178

> إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ [26:178]

(178) Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

### الآية 26:179

> فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ [26:179]

(179) So fear Allāh and obey me.

### الآية 26:180

> وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:180]

(180) And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

### الآية 26:181

> ۞ أَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُخْسِرِينَ [26:181]

(181) Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss.

### الآية 26:182

> وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ [26:182]

(182) And weigh with an even \[i.e., honest\] balance.

### الآية 26:183

> وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ [26:183]

(183) And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption.

### الآية 26:184

> وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالْجِبِلَّةَ الْأَوَّلِينَ [26:184]

(184) And fear He who created you and the former creation."\[1059\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1059\]- i.e., previous generations.

### الآية 26:185

> قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ [26:185]

(185) They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.

### الآية 26:186

> وَمَا أَنْتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَا وَإِنْ نَظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ [26:186]

(186) You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.

### الآية 26:187

> فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ [26:187]

(187) So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful."

### الآية 26:188

> قَالَ رَبِّي أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ [26:188]

(188) He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do."

### الآية 26:189

> فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ [26:189]

(189) And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.

### الآية 26:190

> إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ [26:190]

(190) Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

### الآية 26:191

> وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ [26:191]

(191) And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

### الآية 26:192

> وَإِنَّهُ لَتَنْزِيلُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [26:192]

(192) And indeed, it \[i.e., the Qur’ān\] is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.

### الآية 26:193

> نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الْأَمِينُ [26:193]

(193) The Trustworthy Spirit \[i.e., Gabriel\] has brought it down

### الآية 26:194

> عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُنْذِرِينَ [26:194]

(194) Upon your heart, \[O Muḥammad\] - that you may be of the warners -

### الآية 26:195

> بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيٍّ مُبِينٍ [26:195]

(195) In a clear Arabic language.

### الآية 26:196

> وَإِنَّهُ لَفِي زُبُرِ الْأَوَّلِينَ [26:196]

(196) And indeed, it is \[mentioned\] in the scriptures of former peoples.

### الآية 26:197

> أَوَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُمْ آيَةً أَنْ يَعْلَمَهُ عُلَمَاءُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ [26:197]

(197) And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?

### الآية 26:198

> وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ الْأَعْجَمِينَ [26:198]

(198) And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners\[1060\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1060\]- i.e., the non-Arabs or those who are not fluent in the Arabic language.

### الآية 26:199

> فَقَرَأَهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ مُؤْمِنِينَ [26:199]

(199) And he had recited it to them \[perfectly\],\[1061\] they would \[still\] not have been believers in it.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1061\]- As a miracle from Allāh.

### الآية 26:200

> كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَاهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ [26:200]

(200) Thus have We inserted it \[i.e., disbelief\] into the hearts of the criminals.

### الآية 26:201

> لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ [26:201]

(201) They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.

### الآية 26:202

> فَيَأْتِيَهُمْ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ [26:202]

(202) And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive \[it\] not.

### الآية 26:203

> فَيَقُولُوا هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنْظَرُونَ [26:203]

(203) And they will say, "May we be reprieved?"

### الآية 26:204

> أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ [26:204]

(204) So for Our punishment are they impatient?

### الآية 26:205

> أَفَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ مَتَّعْنَاهُمْ سِنِينَ [26:205]

(205) Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years

### الآية 26:206

> ثُمَّ جَاءَهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ [26:206]

(206) And then there came to them that which they were promised?

### الآية 26:207

> مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يُمَتَّعُونَ [26:207]

(207) They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided.

### الآية 26:208

> وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنْذِرُونَ [26:208]

(208) And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners

### الآية 26:209

> ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ [26:209]

(209) As a reminder; and never have We been unjust.

### الآية 26:210

> وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ [26:210]

(210) And the devils have not brought it \[i.e., the revelation\] down.\[1062\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1062\]- As was asserted by the disbelievers. Rather, it was brought by Gabriel, the Trustworthy Spirit.

### الآية 26:211

> وَمَا يَنْبَغِي لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ [26:211]

(211) It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able.

### الآية 26:212

> إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ [26:212]

(212) Indeed they, from \[its\] hearing, are removed.\[1063\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1063\]- As mentioned in 72:9.

### الآية 26:213

> فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ [26:213]

(213) So do not invoke\[1064\] with Allāh another deity and \[thus\] be among the punished.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1064\]- Or "worship."

### الآية 26:214

> وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ [26:214]

(214) And warn, \[O Muḥammad\], your closest kindred.

### الآية 26:215

> وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [26:215]

(215) And lower your wing \[i.e., show kindness\] to those who follow you of the believers.

### الآية 26:216

> فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ [26:216]

(216) And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing."

### الآية 26:217

> وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ [26:217]

(217) And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,

### الآية 26:218

> الَّذِي يَرَاكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ [26:218]

(218) Who sees you when you arise\[1065\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1065\]- From your bed at night for prayer while you are alone.

### الآية 26:219

> وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي السَّاجِدِينَ [26:219]

(219) And your movement among those who prostrate.\[1066\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1066\]- i.e., among those who pray with you in congregation.

### الآية 26:220

> إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ [26:220]

(220) Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

### الآية 26:221

> هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَنْ تَنَزَّلُ الشَّيَاطِينُ [26:221]

(221) Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?

### الآية 26:222

> تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ [26:222]

(222) They descend upon every sinful liar.

### الآية 26:223

> يُلْقُونَ السَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَاذِبُونَ [26:223]

(223) They pass on what is heard,\[1067\] and most of them are liars.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1067\]- This was before they were prevented, as described in 72:8-9.

### الآية 26:224

> وَالشُّعَرَاءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ الْغَاوُونَ [26:224]

(224) And the poets - \[only\] the deviators follow them;

### الآية 26:225

> أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِي كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ [26:225]

(225) Do you not see that in every valley they roam\[1068\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1068\]- Speaking lies indiscriminately and praising and disparaging others according to whim.

### الآية 26:226

> وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ [26:226]

(226) And that they say what they do not do? -

### الآية 26:227

> إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَذَكَرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَانْتَصَرُوا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَيَّ مُنْقَلَبٍ يَنْقَلِبُونَ [26:227]

(227) Except those \[poets\] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allāh often and defend \[the Muslims\]\[1069\] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what \[kind of\] return they will be returned.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1069\]- By replying through poetry to the attacks of hostile poets.
