### الآية 36:1

> يس [36:1]

(1) Yā, Seen.\[1260\]

### الآية 36:2

> وَالْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيمِ [36:2]

(2) By the wise\[1261\] Qur’ān,

### الآية 36:3

> إِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [36:3]

(3) Indeed you, \[O Muḥammad\], are from among the messengers,

### الآية 36:4

> عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ [36:4]

(4) On a straight path.

### الآية 36:5

> تَنْزِيلَ الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ [36:5]

(5) \[This is\] a revelation of the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,

### الآية 36:6

> لِتُنْذِرَ قَوْمًا مَا أُنْذِرَ آبَاؤُهُمْ فَهُمْ غَافِلُونَ [36:6]

(6) That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware.

### الآية 36:7

> لَقَدْ حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَىٰ أَكْثَرِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ [36:7]

(7) Already the word \[i.e., decree\] has come into effect upon most of them, so they do not believe.

### الآية 36:8

> إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا فِي أَعْنَاقِهِمْ أَغْلَالًا فَهِيَ إِلَى الْأَذْقَانِ فَهُمْ مُقْمَحُونَ [36:8]

(8) Indeed, We have put shackles on their necks, and they are to their chins, so they are with heads \[kept\] aloft.

### الآية 36:9

> وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ سَدًّا وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ سَدًّا فَأَغْشَيْنَاهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ [36:9]

(9) And We have put before them a barrier and behind them a barrier and covered them, so they do not see.

### الآية 36:10

> وَسَوَاءٌ عَلَيْهِمْ أَأَنْذَرْتَهُمْ أَمْ لَمْ تُنْذِرْهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ [36:10]

(10) And it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe.

### الآية 36:11

> إِنَّمَا تُنْذِرُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ الذِّكْرَ وَخَشِيَ الرَّحْمَٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِ ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِمَغْفِرَةٍ وَأَجْرٍ كَرِيمٍ [36:11]

(11) You can only warn one who follows the message and fears the Most Merciful unseen. So give him good tidings of forgiveness and noble reward.

### الآية 36:12

> إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَآثَارَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ فِي إِمَامٍ مُبِينٍ [36:12]

(12) Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put forth and what they left behind, and all things We have enumerated in a clear register.

### الآية 36:13

> وَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ مَثَلًا أَصْحَابَ الْقَرْيَةِ إِذْ جَاءَهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ [36:13]

(13) And present to them an example: the people of the city, when the messengers came to it -

### الآية 36:14

> إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمُ اثْنَيْنِ فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَعَزَّزْنَا بِثَالِثٍ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ مُرْسَلُونَ [36:14]

(14) When We sent to them two but they denied them, so We strengthened \[them\] with a third, and they said, "Indeed, we are messengers to you."

### الآية 36:15

> قَالُوا مَا أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُنَا وَمَا أَنْزَلَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا تَكْذِبُونَ [36:15]

(15) They said, "You are not but human beings like us, and the Most Merciful has not revealed a thing. You are only telling lies."

### الآية 36:16

> قَالُوا رَبُّنَا يَعْلَمُ إِنَّا إِلَيْكُمْ لَمُرْسَلُونَ [36:16]

(16) They said, "Our Lord knows that we are messengers to you,

### الآية 36:17

> وَمَا عَلَيْنَا إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ [36:17]

(17) And we are not responsible except for clear notification."

### الآية 36:18

> قَالُوا إِنَّا تَطَيَّرْنَا بِكُمْ ۖ لَئِنْ لَمْ تَنْتَهُوا لَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْ وَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمْ مِنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ [36:18]

(18) They said, "Indeed, we consider you a bad omen. If you do not desist, we will surely stone you, and there will surely touch you, from us, a painful punishment."

### الآية 36:19

> قَالُوا طَائِرُكُمْ مَعَكُمْ ۚ أَئِنْ ذُكِّرْتُمْ ۚ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُسْرِفُونَ [36:19]

(19) They said, "Your omen \[i.e., fate\] is with yourselves. Is it\[1262\] because you were reminded? Rather, you are a transgressing people."

\[1262\]- Your threat against us.

### الآية 36:20

> وَجَاءَ مِنْ أَقْصَى الْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌ يَسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ [36:20]

(20) And there came from the farthest end of the city a man, running. He said, "O my people, follow the messengers.

### الآية 36:21

> اتَّبِعُوا مَنْ لَا يَسْأَلُكُمْ أَجْرًا وَهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ [36:21]

(21) Follow those who do not ask of you \[any\] payment, and they are \[rightly\] guided.

### الآية 36:22

> وَمَا لِيَ لَا أَعْبُدُ الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ [36:22]

(22) And why should I not worship He who created me and to whom you will be returned?

### الآية 36:23

> أَأَتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُونِهِ آلِهَةً إِنْ يُرِدْنِ الرَّحْمَٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَا تُغْنِ عَنِّي شَفَاعَتُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا يُنْقِذُونِ [36:23]

(23) Should I take other than Him \[false\] deities \[while\], if the Most Merciful intends for me some adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor can they save me?

### الآية 36:24

> إِنِّي إِذًا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ [36:24]

(24) Indeed, I would then be in manifest error.

### الآية 36:25

> إِنِّي آمَنْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ فَاسْمَعُونِ [36:25]

(25) Indeed, I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me."

### الآية 36:26

> قِيلَ ادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ ۖ قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ قَوْمِي يَعْلَمُونَ [36:26]

(26) It was said, "Enter Paradise."\[1263\] He said, "I wish my people could know
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1263\]- An abrupt transfer to the Hereafter conveys the meaning that the man met a violent death at the hands of the disbelievers and so was martyred for the cause of Allāh.

### الآية 36:27

> بِمَا غَفَرَ لِي رَبِّي وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ [36:27]

(27) Of how my Lord has forgiven me and placed me among the honored."

### الآية 36:28

> ۞ وَمَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مِنْ جُنْدٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَمَا كُنَّا مُنْزِلِينَ [36:28]

(28) And We did not send down upon his people after him any soldiers from the heaven, nor would We have done so.

### الآية 36:29

> إِنْ كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ خَامِدُونَ [36:29]

(29) It was not but one shout,\[1264\] and immediately they were extinguished.

\[1264\]- From Gabriel or a blast from the sky.

### الآية 36:30

> يَا حَسْرَةً عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ۚ مَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ [36:30]

(30) How regretful for the servants. There did not come to them any messenger except that they used to ridicule him.

### الآية 36:31

> أَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ [36:31]

(31) Have they not considered how many generations We destroyed before them - that they to them\[1265\] will not return?
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1265\]- i.e., to those living presently in the world.

### الآية 36:32

> وَإِنْ كُلٌّ لَمَّا جَمِيعٌ لَدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ [36:32]

(32) And indeed, all of them will yet be brought present before Us.

### الآية 36:33

> وَآيَةٌ لَهُمُ الْأَرْضُ الْمَيْتَةُ أَحْيَيْنَاهَا وَأَخْرَجْنَا مِنْهَا حَبًّا فَمِنْهُ يَأْكُلُونَ [36:33]

(33) And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat.

### الآية 36:34

> وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا جَنَّاتٍ مِنْ نَخِيلٍ وَأَعْنَابٍ وَفَجَّرْنَا فِيهَا مِنَ الْعُيُونِ [36:34]

(34) And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs -

### الآية 36:35

> لِيَأْكُلُوا مِنْ ثَمَرِهِ وَمَا عَمِلَتْهُ أَيْدِيهِمْ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ [36:35]

(35) That they may eat of His fruit.\[1266\] And their hands have not produced it,\[1267\] so will they not be grateful?
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1266\]- i.e., that which Allāh has produced for them.
\[1267\]- An alternative meaning is "And \[eat from\] what their hands have produced \[i.e., planted and harvested\]." Both are grammatically correct.

### الآية 36:36

> سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا مِمَّا تُنْبِتُ الْأَرْضُ وَمِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ [36:36]

(36) Exalted is He who created all pairs\[1268\] - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1268\]- Or "all species."

### الآية 36:37

> وَآيَةٌ لَهُمُ اللَّيْلُ نَسْلَخُ مِنْهُ النَّهَارَ فَإِذَا هُمْ مُظْلِمُونَ [36:37]

(37) And a sign for them is the night. We remove\[1269\] from it the \[light of\] day, so they are \[left\] in darkness.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1269\]- Literally, "strip" or "peel." Sunlight projected onto the earth is removed from it as the earth turns and night approaches.

### الآية 36:38

> وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِي لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ [36:38]

(38) And the sun runs \[on course\] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

### الآية 36:39

> وَالْقَمَرَ قَدَّرْنَاهُ مَنَازِلَ حَتَّىٰ عَادَ كَالْعُرْجُونِ الْقَدِيمِ [36:39]

(39) And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns \[appearing\] like the old date stalk.

### الآية 36:40

> لَا الشَّمْسُ يَنْبَغِي لَهَا أَنْ تُدْرِكَ الْقَمَرَ وَلَا اللَّيْلُ سَابِقُ النَّهَارِ ۚ وَكُلٌّ فِي فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ [36:40]

(40) It is not allowable \[i.e., possible\] for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming.

### الآية 36:41

> وَآيَةٌ لَهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ [36:41]

(41) And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers\[1270\] in a laden ship.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1270\]- Usually meaning "descendants" or "offspring," the word "dhurriyyah" is used here to denote forefathers (their being the offspring of Noah), who were saved from the flood.

### الآية 36:42

> وَخَلَقْنَا لَهُمْ مِنْ مِثْلِهِ مَا يَرْكَبُونَ [36:42]

(42) And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride.

### الآية 36:43

> وَإِنْ نَشَأْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلَا صَرِيخَ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنْقَذُونَ [36:43]

(43) And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be saved

### الآية 36:44

> إِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِنَّا وَمَتَاعًا إِلَىٰ حِينٍ [36:44]

(44) Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time.

### الآية 36:45

> وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّقُوا مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَمَا خَلْفَكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ [36:45]

(45) But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you;\[1271\] perhaps you will receive mercy..."\[1272\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1271\]- Of sins or of life in this world and the Hereafter.
\[1272\]- The conclusion of this sentence is understood to be "...they ignored the warning."

### الآية 36:46

> وَمَا تَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ آيَةٍ مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ [36:46]

(46) And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away.

### الآية 36:47

> وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ أَنْفِقُوا مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ قَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَنُطْعِمُ مَنْ لَوْ يَشَاءُ اللَّهُ أَطْعَمَهُ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ [36:47]

(47) And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allāh has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allāh had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error."

### الآية 36:48

> وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا الْوَعْدُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ [36:48]

(48) And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"

### الآية 36:49

> مَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً تَأْخُذُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَخِصِّمُونَ [36:49]

(49) They do not await except one blast\[1273\] which will seize them while they are disputing.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1273\]- Literally, "cry" or "shriek," meaning the first blast of the Horn which will strike dead every living thing on the earth without warning.

### الآية 36:50

> فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَةً وَلَا إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ [36:50]

(50) And they will not be able \[to give\] any instruction, nor to their people can they return.

### الآية 36:51

> وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُمْ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنْسِلُونَ [36:51]

(51) And the Horn will be blown;\[1274\] and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1274\]- For the second time, signaling the Resurrection.

### الآية 36:52

> قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا مَنْ بَعَثَنَا مِنْ مَرْقَدِنَا ۜ ۗ هَٰذَا مَا وَعَدَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَصَدَقَ الْمُرْسَلُونَ [36:52]

(52) They will say, "O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?" \[The reply will be\], "This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth."

### الآية 36:53

> إِنْ كَانَتْ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ جَمِيعٌ لَدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ [36:53]

(53) It will not be but one blast, and at once they are all brought present before Us.

### الآية 36:54

> فَالْيَوْمَ لَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْئًا وَلَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ [36:54]

(54) So today \[i.e., the Day of Judgement\] no soul will be wronged at all, and you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do.

### الآية 36:55

> إِنَّ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ الْيَوْمَ فِي شُغُلٍ فَاكِهُونَ [36:55]

(55) Indeed the companions of Paradise, that Day, will be amused in \[joyful\] occupation -

### الآية 36:56

> هُمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُمْ فِي ظِلَالٍ عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ مُتَّكِئُونَ [36:56]

(56) They and their spouses - in shade, reclining on adorned couches.

### الآية 36:57

> لَهُمْ فِيهَا فَاكِهَةٌ وَلَهُمْ مَا يَدَّعُونَ [36:57]

(57) For them therein is fruit, and for them is whatever they request \[or wish\]

### الآية 36:58

> سَلَامٌ قَوْلًا مِنْ رَبٍّ رَحِيمٍ [36:58]

(58) \[And\] "Peace," a word from a Merciful Lord.

### الآية 36:59

> وَامْتَازُوا الْيَوْمَ أَيُّهَا الْمُجْرِمُونَ [36:59]

(59) \[Then He will say\], "But stand apart today, you criminals.\[1275\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1275\]- i.e., remove yourself from the ranks of the believers to be distinguished from them.

### الآية 36:60

> ۞ أَلَمْ أَعْهَدْ إِلَيْكُمْ يَا بَنِي آدَمَ أَنْ لَا تَعْبُدُوا الشَّيْطَانَ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُبِينٌ [36:60]

(60) Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan - \[for\] indeed, he is to you a clear enemy -

### الآية 36:61

> وَأَنِ اعْبُدُونِي ۚ هَٰذَا صِرَاطٌ مُسْتَقِيمٌ [36:61]

(61) And that you worship \[only\] Me? This is a straight path.

### الآية 36:62

> وَلَقَدْ أَضَلَّ مِنْكُمْ جِبِلًّا كَثِيرًا ۖ أَفَلَمْ تَكُونُوا تَعْقِلُونَ [36:62]

(62) And he had already led astray from among you much of creation, so did you not use reason?

### الآية 36:63

> هَٰذِهِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِي كُنْتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ [36:63]

(63) This is the Hellfire which you were promised.

### الآية 36:64

> اصْلَوْهَا الْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ [36:64]

(64) \[Enter to\] burn therein today for what you used to deny."\[1276\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1276\]- Or "because you used to disbelieve."

### الآية 36:65

> الْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَىٰ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَا أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ [36:65]

(65) That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.

### الآية 36:66

> وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَطَمَسْنَا عَلَىٰ أَعْيُنِهِمْ فَاسْتَبَقُوا الصِّرَاطَ فَأَنَّىٰ يُبْصِرُونَ [36:66]

(66) And if We willed, We could have obliterated their eyes, and they would race to \[find\] the path, and how could they see?\[1277\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1277\]- Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) could have left man without means of guidance in the life of this world, although in His mercy He did not.

### الآية 36:67

> وَلَوْ نَشَاءُ لَمَسَخْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِهِمْ فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مُضِيًّا وَلَا يَرْجِعُونَ [36:67]

(67) And if We willed, We could have deformed them, \[paralyzing them\] in their places so they would not be able to proceed, nor could they return.\[1278\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1278\]- He (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) could have prevented man from taking any action to benefit himself in this world or the Hereafter, yet He did not.

### الآية 36:68

> وَمَنْ نُعَمِّرْهُ نُنَكِّسْهُ فِي الْخَلْقِ ۖ أَفَلَا يَعْقِلُونَ [36:68]

(68) And he to whom We grant long life We reverse in creation;\[1279\] so will they not understand?
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1279\]- In his physical and mental capacity.

### الآية 36:69

> وَمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ الشِّعْرَ وَمَا يَنْبَغِي لَهُ ۚ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ وَقُرْآنٌ مُبِينٌ [36:69]

(69) And We did not give him \[i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)\] knowledge of poetry, nor is it befitting for him. It is not but a message and a clear Qur’ān

### الآية 36:70

> لِيُنْذِرَ مَنْ كَانَ حَيًّا وَيَحِقَّ الْقَوْلُ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ [36:70]

(70) To warn whoever is alive\[1280\] and justify the word \[i.e., decree\] against the disbelievers.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1280\]- In heart and mind, i.e., the believers.

### الآية 36:71

> أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّا خَلَقْنَا لَهُمْ مِمَّا عَمِلَتْ أَيْدِينَا أَنْعَامًا فَهُمْ لَهَا مَالِكُونَ [36:71]

(71) Do they not see that We have created for them from what Our hands\[1281\] have made, grazing livestock, and \[then\] they are their owners?

### الآية 36:72

> وَذَلَّلْنَاهَا لَهُمْ فَمِنْهَا رَكُوبُهُمْ وَمِنْهَا يَأْكُلُونَ [36:72]

(72) And We have tamed them for them, so some of them they ride, and some of them they eat.

### الآية 36:73

> وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مَنَافِعُ وَمَشَارِبُ ۖ أَفَلَا يَشْكُرُونَ [36:73]

(73) And for them therein are \[other\] benefits and drinks, so will they not be grateful?

### الآية 36:74

> وَاتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً لَعَلَّهُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ [36:74]

(74) But they have taken besides Allāh \[false\] deities that perhaps they would be helped.

### الآية 36:75

> لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُحْضَرُونَ [36:75]

(75) They are not able to help them, and they \[themselves\] are for them soldiers in attendance.\[1282\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1282\]- Maintaining and protecting their "gods." Another interpretation is that they (i.e., the gods) will be soldiers set against them in Hellfire.

### الآية 36:76

> فَلَا يَحْزُنْكَ قَوْلُهُمْ ۘ إِنَّا نَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ [36:76]

(76) So let not their speech grieve you. Indeed, We know what they conceal and what they declare.

### الآية 36:77

> أَوَلَمْ يَرَ الْإِنْسَانُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُ مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُبِينٌ [36:77]

(77) Does man not consider that We created him from a \[mere\] sperm-drop - then at once\[1283\] he is a clear adversary?
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1283\]- i.e., as soon as he becomes self-sufficient.

### الآية 36:78

> وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِيَ خَلْقَهُ ۖ قَالَ مَنْ يُحْيِي الْعِظَامَ وَهِيَ رَمِيمٌ [36:78]

(78) And he presents for Us an example\[1284\] and forgets his \[own\] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?"

\[1284\]- Attempting to establish the finality of death.

### الآية 36:79

> قُلْ يُحْيِيهَا الَّذِي أَنْشَأَهَا أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ خَلْقٍ عَلِيمٌ [36:79]

(79) Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing."

### الآية 36:80

> الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الشَّجَرِ الْأَخْضَرِ نَارًا فَإِذَا أَنْتُمْ مِنْهُ تُوقِدُونَ [36:80]

(80) \[It is\] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite.

### الآية 36:81

> أَوَلَيْسَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْ ۚ بَلَىٰ وَهُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ [36:81]

(81) Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, \[it is so\]; and He is the Knowing Creator.

### الآية 36:82

> إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ إِذَا أَرَادَ شَيْئًا أَنْ يَقُولَ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ [36:82]

(82) His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is.

### الآية 36:83

> فَسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ [36:83]

(83) So exalted is He in whose hand is the realm of all things, and to Him you will be returned.
