### الآية 37:1

> وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا [37:1]

As-Saffat 
----------

---

وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِ صَفّٗا


By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows).

---

### الآية 37:2

> فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا [37:2]

فَٱلزَّـٰجِرَٰتِ زَجۡرٗا


By those (angels) who drive the clouds in a good way.

---

### الآية 37:3

> فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا [37:3]

فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكۡرًا


By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir].

---

### الآية 37:4

> إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ [37:4]

إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمۡ لَوَٰحِدٞ


Verily your Ilah (God) is indeed One (i.e. Allah);

---

### الآية 37:5

> رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ [37:5]

رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَشَٰرِقِ


Lord of the heavens and of the earth, and all that is between them, and Lord of every point of the sun's risings. (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah).

### الآية 37:6

> إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ [37:6]

إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلۡكَوَاكِبِ


Verily! We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for beauty).

### الآية 37:7

> وَحِفْظًا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَارِدٍ [37:7]

وَحِفۡظٗا مِّن كُلِّ شَيۡطَٰنٖ مَّارِدٖ


And to guard against every rebellious devil.

### الآية 37:8

> لَا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِنْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍ [37:8]

لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡمَلَإِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ وَيُقۡذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٖ


They cannot listen to the higher group (angels) for they are pelted from every side.

### الآية 37:9

> دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ [37:9]

دُحُورٗاۖ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٞ وَاصِبٌ


Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment.

---

### الآية 37:10

> إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ [37:10]

إِلَّا مَنۡ خَطِفَ ٱلۡخَطۡفَةَ فَأَتۡبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٞ ثَاقِبٞ


Except such as snatch away something by stealing and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness.

### الآية 37:11

> فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمْ مَنْ خَلَقْنَا ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُمْ مِنْ طِينٍ لَازِبٍ [37:11]

فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَهُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَم مَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَآۚ إِنَّا خَلَقۡنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٖ لَّازِبِۭ


Then ask them (i.e. these polytheists, O Muhammad SAW): "Are they stronger as creation, or those (others like the heavens and the earth and the mountains, etc.) whom We have created?" Verily, We created them of a sticky clay.

### الآية 37:12

> بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ [37:12]

بَلۡ عَجِبۡتَ وَيَسۡخَرُونَ


Nay, you (O Muhammad SAW) wondered (at their insolence) while they mock (at you and at the Quran).

---

### الآية 37:13

> وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا لَا يَذْكُرُونَ [37:13]

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُواْ لَا يَذۡكُرُونَ


And when they are reminded, they pay no attention.

---

### الآية 37:14

> وَإِذَا رَأَوْا آيَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ [37:14]

وَإِذَا رَأَوۡاْ ءَايَةٗ يَسۡتَسۡخِرُونَ


And when they see an Ayah (a sign, a proof, or an evidence) from Allah, they mock at it.

### الآية 37:15

> وَقَالُوا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ [37:15]

وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٌ


And they say: "This is nothing but evident magic!

### الآية 37:16

> أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ [37:16]

أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ


"When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected?

### الآية 37:17

> أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ [37:17]

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ


"And also our fathers of old?"

### الآية 37:18

> قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنْتُمْ دَاخِرُونَ [37:18]

قُلۡ نَعَمۡ وَأَنتُمۡ دَٰخِرُونَ


Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Yes, and you shall then be humiliated."

---

### الآية 37:19

> فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ [37:19]

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجۡرَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ فَإِذَا هُمۡ يَنظُرُونَ


It will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e. the second blowing of the Trumpet)], and behold, they will be staring!

### الآية 37:20

> وَقَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ [37:20]

وَقَالُواْ يَٰوَيۡلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلدِّينِ


They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!"

### الآية 37:21

> هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ [37:21]

هَٰذَا يَوۡمُ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ


(It will be said): "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."

### الآية 37:22

> ۞ احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَ [37:22]

۞ٱحۡشُرُواْ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ وَأَزۡوَٰجَهُمۡ وَمَا كَانُواْ يَعۡبُدُونَ


(It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship.

### الآية 37:23

> مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ [37:23]

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَٱهۡدُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ


"Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell);

---

### الآية 37:24

> وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ مَسْئُولُونَ [37:24]

وَقِفُوهُمۡۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسۡـُٔولُونَ


"But stop them, verily they are to be questioned.

---

### الآية 37:25

> مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ [37:25]

مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ


"What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?"

### الآية 37:26

> بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ [37:26]

بَلۡ هُمُ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ مُسۡتَسۡلِمُونَ


Nay, but that Day they shall surrender,

---

### الآية 37:27

> وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ [37:27]

وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ


And they will turn to one another and question one another.

### الآية 37:28

> قَالُوا إِنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ الْيَمِينِ [37:28]

قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّكُمۡ كُنتُمۡ تَأۡتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلۡيَمِينِ


They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]."

### الآية 37:29

> قَالُوا بَلْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ [37:29]

قَالُواْ بَل لَّمۡ تَكُونُواْ مُؤۡمِنِينَ


They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers.

---

### الآية 37:30

> وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ سُلْطَانٍ ۖ بَلْ كُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا طَاغِينَ [37:30]

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيۡكُم مِّن سُلۡطَٰنِۭۖ بَلۡ كُنتُمۡ قَوۡمٗا طَٰغِينَ


"And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers).

### الآية 37:31

> فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَا ۖ إِنَّا لَذَائِقُونَ [37:31]

فَحَقَّ عَلَيۡنَا قَوۡلُ رَبِّنَآۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ


"So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment).

### الآية 37:32

> فَأَغْوَيْنَاكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَاوِينَ [37:32]

فَأَغۡوَيۡنَٰكُمۡ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَ


"So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray."

---

### الآية 37:33

> فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ [37:33]

فَإِنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ فِي ٱلۡعَذَابِ مُشۡتَرِكُونَ


Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment.

### الآية 37:34

> إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ [37:34]

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفۡعَلُ بِٱلۡمُجۡرِمِينَ


Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.).

### الآية 37:35

> إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ [37:35]

إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُوٓاْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمۡ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ


Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it).

### الآية 37:36

> وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُو آلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَجْنُونٍ [37:36]

وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓاْ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٖ مَّجۡنُونِۭ


And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet?

---

### الآية 37:37

> بَلْ جَاءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:37]

بَلۡ جَآءَ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ


Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allah's Religion - Islamic Monotheism and this Quran) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism).

### الآية 37:38

> إِنَّكُمْ لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الْأَلِيمِ [37:38]

إِنَّكُمۡ لَذَآئِقُواْ ٱلۡعَذَابِ ٱلۡأَلِيمِ


Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment;

---

### الآية 37:39

> وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ [37:39]

وَمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ


And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world);

---

### الآية 37:40

> إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ [37:40]

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ


Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism).

### الآية 37:41

> أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَعْلُومٌ [37:41]

أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمۡ رِزۡقٞ مَّعۡلُومٞ


For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise).

---

### الآية 37:42

> فَوَاكِهُ ۖ وَهُمْ مُكْرَمُونَ [37:42]

فَوَٰكِهُ وَهُم مُّكۡرَمُونَ


Fruits; and they shall be honoured,

---

### الآية 37:43

> فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ [37:43]

فِي جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ


In the Gardens of delight (Paradise),

---

### الآية 37:44

> عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ [37:44]

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ


Facing one another on thrones,

---

### الآية 37:45

> يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِكَأْسٍ مِنْ مَعِينٍ [37:45]

يُطَافُ عَلَيۡهِم بِكَأۡسٖ مِّن مَّعِينِۭ


Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine;

---

### الآية 37:46

> بَيْضَاءَ لَذَّةٍ لِلشَّارِبِينَ [37:46]

بَيۡضَآءَ لَذَّةٖ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ


White, delicious to the drinkers,

---

### الآية 37:47

> لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنْزَفُونَ [37:47]

لَا فِيهَا غَوۡلٞ وَلَا هُمۡ عَنۡهَا يُنزَفُونَ


Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom.

### الآية 37:48

> وَعِنْدَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ [37:48]

وَعِندَهُمۡ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ عِينٞ


And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes.

### الآية 37:49

> كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَكْنُونٌ [37:49]

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيۡضٞ مَّكۡنُونٞ


(Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved.

---

### الآية 37:50

> فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ [37:50]

فَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ


Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning.

### الآية 37:51

> قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٌ [37:51]

قَالَ قَآئِلٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٞ


A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world),

### الآية 37:52

> يَقُولُ أَإِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ [37:52]

يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُصَدِّقِينَ


Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death).

---

### الآية 37:53

> أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ [37:53]

أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابٗا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ


"(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?"

### الآية 37:54

> قَالَ هَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُطَّلِعُونَ [37:54]

قَالَ هَلۡ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ


(The man) said: "Will you look down?"

---

### الآية 37:55

> فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَآهُ فِي سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ [37:55]

فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِي سَوَآءِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ


So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire.

---

### الآية 37:56

> قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِنْ كِدْتَ لَتُرْدِينِ [37:56]

قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرۡدِينِ


He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me.

---

### الآية 37:57

> وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنْتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِينَ [37:57]

وَلَوۡلَا نِعۡمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلۡمُحۡضَرِينَ


"Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)."

### الآية 37:58

> أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ [37:58]

أَفَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ


(Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)?

---

### الآية 37:59

> إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ [37:59]

إِلَّا مَوۡتَتَنَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ


"Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)."

### الآية 37:60

> إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ [37:60]

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ


Truly, this is the supreme success!

---

### الآية 37:61

> لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ الْعَامِلُونَ [37:61]

لِمِثۡلِ هَٰذَا فَلۡيَعۡمَلِ ٱلۡعَٰمِلُونَ


For the like of this let the workers work.

---

### الآية 37:62

> أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ [37:62]

أَذَٰلِكَ خَيۡرٞ نُّزُلًا أَمۡ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ


Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)?

---

### الآية 37:63

> إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهَا فِتْنَةً لِلظَّالِمِينَ [37:63]

إِنَّا جَعَلۡنَٰهَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ


Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.).

---

### الآية 37:64

> إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِي أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ [37:64]

إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٞ تَخۡرُجُ فِيٓ أَصۡلِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ


Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire,

---

### الآية 37:65

> طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُ رُءُوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ [37:65]

طَلۡعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ


The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils);

---

### الآية 37:66

> فَإِنَّهُمْ لَآكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ [37:66]

فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَأٓكِلُونَ مِنۡهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡبُطُونَ


Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.

---

### الآية 37:67

> ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِنْ حَمِيمٍ [37:67]

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا لَشَوۡبٗا مِّنۡ حَمِيمٖ


Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies).

---

### الآية 37:68

> ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى الْجَحِيمِ [37:68]

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرۡجِعَهُمۡ لَإِلَى ٱلۡجَحِيمِ


Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell.

### الآية 37:69

> إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا آبَاءَهُمْ ضَالِّينَ [37:69]

إِنَّهُمۡ أَلۡفَوۡاْ ءَابَآءَهُمۡ ضَآلِّينَ


Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path;

---

### الآية 37:70

> فَهُمْ عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ [37:70]

فَهُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمۡ يُهۡرَعُونَ


So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps!

---

### الآية 37:71

> وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ [37:71]

وَلَقَدۡ ضَلَّ قَبۡلَهُمۡ أَكۡثَرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ


And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them;

---

### الآية 37:72

> وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ مُنْذِرِينَ [37:72]

وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ


And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers);

---

### الآية 37:73

> فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ [37:73]

فَٱنظُرۡ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ


Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not).

---

### الآية 37:74

> إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ [37:74]

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ


Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism).

---

### الآية 37:75

> وَلَقَدْ نَادَانَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ [37:75]

وَلَقَدۡ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٞ فَلَنِعۡمَ ٱلۡمُجِيبُونَ


And indeed Nuh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request).

---

### الآية 37:76

> وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ [37:76]

وَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ


And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning),

---

### الآية 37:77

> وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ [37:77]

وَجَعَلۡنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلۡبَاقِينَ


And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth).

---

### الآية 37:78

> وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ [37:78]

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ


And left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations to come in later times:

---

### الآية 37:79

> سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ [37:79]

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٖ فِي ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ


Salamun (peace) be upon Nuh (Noah) (from Us) among the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!"

---

### الآية 37:80

> إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ [37:80]

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ


Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112).

---

### الآية 37:81

> إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [37:81]

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ


Verily, he [Nuh (Noah)] was one of Our believing slaves.

---

### الآية 37:82

> ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ [37:82]

ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ


Then We drowned the other (disbelievers and polytheists, etc.).

---

### الآية 37:83

> ۞ وَإِنَّ مِنْ شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ [37:83]

۞وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبۡرَٰهِيمَ


And, verily, among those who followed his [Nuh's (Noah)] way (Islamic Monotheism) was Ibrahim (Abraham).

---

### الآية 37:84

> إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّهُ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ [37:84]

إِذۡ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلۡبٖ سَلِيمٍ


When he came to his Lord with a pure heart [attached to Allah Alone and none else, worshipping none but Allah Alone true Islamic Monotheism, pure from the filth of polytheism].

---

### الآية 37:85

> إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ [37:85]

إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعۡبُدُونَ


When he said to his father and to his people: "What is it that which you worship?

---

### الآية 37:86

> أَئِفْكًا آلِهَةً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ [37:86]

أَئِفۡكًا ءَالِهَةٗ دُونَ ٱللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ


"Is it a falsehood aliha (gods) other than Allah that you seek?

---

### الآية 37:87

> فَمَا ظَنُّكُمْ بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [37:87]

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ


"Then what do you think about the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?"

---

### الآية 37:88

> فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِي النُّجُومِ [37:88]

فَنَظَرَ نَظۡرَةٗ فِي ٱلنُّجُومِ


Then he cast a glance at the stars (to deceive them),

---

### الآية 37:89

> فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٌ [37:89]

فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٞ


And he said: "Verily, I am sick (with plague. He did this trick to remain in their temple of idols to destroy them and not to accompany them to the pagan's feast)."

---

### الآية 37:90

> فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ [37:90]

فَتَوَلَّوۡاْ عَنۡهُ مُدۡبِرِينَ


So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease).

---

### الآية 37:91

> فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰ آلِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ [37:91]

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمۡ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأۡكُلُونَ


Then he turned to their aliha (gods) and said: "Will you not eat (of the offering before you)?

---

### الآية 37:92

> مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنْطِقُونَ [37:92]

مَا لَكُمۡ لَا تَنطِقُونَ


"What is the matter with you that you speak not?"

---

### الآية 37:93

> فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًا بِالْيَمِينِ [37:93]

فَرَاغَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ضَرۡبَۢا بِٱلۡيَمِينِ


Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand.

---

### الآية 37:94

> فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ [37:94]

فَأَقۡبَلُوٓاْ إِلَيۡهِ يَزِفُّونَ


Then they (the worshippers of idols) came, towards him, hastening.

---

### الآية 37:95

> قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ [37:95]

قَالَ أَتَعۡبُدُونَ مَا تَنۡحِتُونَ


He said: "Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve?

---

### الآية 37:96

> وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ [37:96]

وَٱللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ


"While Allah has created you and what you make!"

---

### الآية 37:97

> قَالُوا ابْنُوا لَهُ بُنْيَانًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ [37:97]

قَالُواْ ٱبۡنُواْ لَهُۥ بُنۡيَٰنٗا فَأَلۡقُوهُ فِي ٱلۡجَحِيمِ


They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!"

---

### الآية 37:98

> فَأَرَادُوا بِهِ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ الْأَسْفَلِينَ [37:98]

فَأَرَادُواْ بِهِۦ كَيۡدٗا فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمُ ٱلۡأَسۡفَلِينَ


So they plotted a plot against him, but We made them the lowest.

---

### الآية 37:99

> وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ [37:99]

وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي سَيَهۡدِينِ


And he said (after his rescue from the fire): "Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!"

---

### الآية 37:100

> رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ [37:100]

رَبِّ هَبۡ لِي مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ


"My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous."

---

### الآية 37:101

> فَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِغُلَامٍ حَلِيمٍ [37:101]

فَبَشَّرۡنَٰهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ حَلِيمٖ


So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy.

---

### الآية 37:102

> فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْيَ قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ إِنِّي أَرَىٰ فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذْبَحُكَ فَانْظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَا أَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِي إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ [37:102]

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعۡيَ قَالَ يَٰبُنَيَّ إِنِّيٓ أَرَىٰ فِي ٱلۡمَنَامِ أَنِّيٓ أَذۡبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرۡ مَاذَا تَرَىٰۚ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفۡعَلۡ مَا تُؤۡمَرُۖ سَتَجِدُنِيٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ


And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offer you in sacrifice to Allah), so look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Insha' Allah (if Allah will), you shall find me of As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)."

---

### الآية 37:103

> فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ [37:103]

فَلَمَّآ أَسۡلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلۡجَبِينِ


Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering);

---

### الآية 37:104

> وَنَادَيْنَاهُ أَنْ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ [37:104]

وَنَٰدَيۡنَٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبۡرَٰهِيمُ


And We called out to him: "O Abraham!

---

### الآية 37:105

> قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ [37:105]

قَدۡ صَدَّقۡتَ ٱلرُّءۡيَآۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ


You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112).

---

### الآية 37:106

> إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلَاءُ الْمُبِينُ [37:106]

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلۡبَلَـٰٓؤُاْ ٱلۡمُبِينُ


Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial

---

### الآية 37:107

> وَفَدَيْنَاهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ [37:107]

وَفَدَيۡنَٰهُ بِذِبۡحٍ عَظِيمٖ


And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. a ram);

---

### الآية 37:108

> وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ [37:108]

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ


And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times.

---

### الآية 37:109

> سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ [37:109]

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ


Salamun (peace) be upon Ibrahim (Abraham)!"

---

### الآية 37:110

> كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ [37:110]

كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ


Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112).

---

### الآية 37:111

> إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [37:111]

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ


Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves.

---

### الآية 37:112

> وَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِإِسْحَاقَ نَبِيًّا مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ [37:112]

وَبَشَّرۡنَٰهُ بِإِسۡحَٰقَ نَبِيّٗا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ


And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaque (Isaac) a Prophet from the righteous.

---

### الآية 37:113

> وَبَارَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ إِسْحَاقَ ۚ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِنَفْسِهِ مُبِينٌ [37:113]

وَبَٰرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسۡحَٰقَۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحۡسِنٞ وَظَالِمٞ لِّنَفۡسِهِۦ مُبِينٞ


We blessed him and Ishaque (Isaac), and of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves.

---

### الآية 37:114

> وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ [37:114]

وَلَقَدۡ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ


And, indeed We gave Our Grace to Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron).

---

### الآية 37:115

> وَنَجَّيْنَاهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ [37:115]

وَنَجَّيۡنَٰهُمَا وَقَوۡمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلۡكَرۡبِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ


And We saved them and their people from the great distress;

---

### الآية 37:116

> وَنَصَرْنَاهُمْ فَكَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ [37:116]

وَنَصَرۡنَٰهُمۡ فَكَانُواْ هُمُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبِينَ


And helped them, so that they became the victors;

---

### الآية 37:117

> وَآتَيْنَاهُمَا الْكِتَابَ الْمُسْتَبِينَ [37:117]

وَءَاتَيۡنَٰهُمَا ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَبِينَ


And We gave them the clear Scripture;

---

### الآية 37:118

> وَهَدَيْنَاهُمَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ [37:118]

وَهَدَيۡنَٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِيمَ


And guided them to the Right Path;

---

### الآية 37:119

> وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِي الْآخِرِينَ [37:119]

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِمَا فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ


And We left for them (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times;

---

### الآية 37:120

> سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ [37:120]

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ


Salamun (peace) be upon Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)!"

---

### الآية 37:121

> إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ [37:121]

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ


Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112).

---

### الآية 37:122

> إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [37:122]

إِنَّهُمَا مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ


Verily! They were two of Our believing slaves.

---

### الآية 37:123

> وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:123]

وَإِنَّ إِلۡيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ


And verily, Iliyas (Elias) was one of the Messengers.

---

### الآية 37:124

> إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ [37:124]

إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ


When he said to his people: "Will you not fear Allah?

---

### الآية 37:125

> أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ الْخَالِقِينَ [37:125]

أَتَدۡعُونَ بَعۡلٗا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحۡسَنَ ٱلۡخَٰلِقِينَ


"Will you call upon Ba'l (a well- known idol of his nation whom they used to worship) and forsake the Best of creators,

---

### الآية 37:126

> اللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ [37:126]

ٱللَّهَ رَبَّكُمۡ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ


"Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?"

---

### الآية 37:127

> فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ [37:127]

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ


But they denied him [Iliyas (Elias)], so they will certainly be brought forth (to the punishment),

---

### الآية 37:128

> إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ [37:128]

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ


Except the chosen slaves of Allah.

---

### الآية 37:129

> وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ [37:129]

وَتَرَكۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ فِي ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ


And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times;

---

### الآية 37:130

> سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِلْ يَاسِينَ [37:130]

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِلۡ يَاسِينَ


Salamun (peace) be upon Ilyasin (Elias)!"

---

### الآية 37:131

> إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ [37:131]

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجۡزِي ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ


Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers, who perform good deeds totally for Allah's sake only - see V. 2:112).

---

### الآية 37:132

> إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [37:132]

إِنَّهُۥ مِنۡ عِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ


Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves.

---

### الآية 37:133

> وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:133]

وَإِنَّ لُوطٗا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ


And verily, Lout (Lot) was one of the Messengers.

---

### الآية 37:134

> إِذْ نَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ [37:134]

إِذۡ نَجَّيۡنَٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥٓ أَجۡمَعِينَ


When We saved him and his family, all,

---

### الآية 37:135

> إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ [37:135]

إِلَّا عَجُوزٗا فِي ٱلۡغَٰبِرِينَ


Except an old woman (his wife) who was among those who remained behind.

---

### الآية 37:136

> ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ [37:136]

ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡأٓخَرِينَ


Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir].

---

### الآية 37:137

> وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِمْ مُصْبِحِينَ [37:137]

وَإِنَّكُمۡ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيۡهِم مُّصۡبِحِينَ


Verily, you pass by them in the morning.

---

### الآية 37:138

> وَبِاللَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ [37:138]

وَبِٱلَّيۡلِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ


And at night; will you not then reflect?

---

### الآية 37:139

> وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:139]

وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ


And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers.

---

### الآية 37:140

> إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ [37:140]

إِذۡ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ


When he ran to the laden ship,

---

### الآية 37:141

> فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِينَ [37:141]

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُدۡحَضِينَ


He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers,

---

### الآية 37:142

> فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ [37:142]

فَٱلۡتَقَمَهُ ٱلۡحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٞ


Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame.

---

### الآية 37:143

> فَلَوْلَا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ [37:143]

فَلَوۡلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحِينَ


Had he not been of them who glorify Allah,

---

### الآية 37:144

> لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطْنِهِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ [37:144]

لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطۡنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يُبۡعَثُونَ


He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection.

---

### الآية 37:145

> ۞ فَنَبَذْنَاهُ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ [37:145]

۞فَنَبَذۡنَٰهُ بِٱلۡعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٞ


But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick,

---

### الآية 37:146

> وَأَنْبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِنْ يَقْطِينٍ [37:146]

وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ شَجَرَةٗ مِّن يَقۡطِينٖ


And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him.

---

### الآية 37:147

> وَأَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ [37:147]

وَأَرۡسَلۡنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِاْئَةِ أَلۡفٍ أَوۡ يَزِيدُونَ


And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more.

---

### الآية 37:148

> فَآمَنُوا فَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ [37:148]

فَـَٔامَنُواْ فَمَتَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ إِلَىٰ حِينٖ


And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while.

---

### الآية 37:149

> فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ الْبَنُونَ [37:149]

فَٱسۡتَفۡتِهِمۡ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلۡبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ


Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?"

---

### الآية 37:150

> أَمْ خَلَقْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِنَاثًا وَهُمْ شَاهِدُونَ [37:150]

أَمۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثٗا وَهُمۡ شَٰهِدُونَ


Or did We create the angels females while they were witnesses?

---

### الآية 37:151

> أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ مِنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ [37:151]

أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنۡ إِفۡكِهِمۡ لَيَقُولُونَ


Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say:

---

### الآية 37:152

> وَلَدَ اللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ [37:152]

وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَٰذِبُونَ


"Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars!

### الآية 37:153

> أَصْطَفَى الْبَنَاتِ عَلَى الْبَنِينَ [37:153]

أَصۡطَفَى ٱلۡبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلۡبَنِينَ


Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons?

---

### الآية 37:154

> مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ [37:154]

مَا لَكُمۡ كَيۡفَ تَحۡكُمُونَ


What is the matter with you? How do you decide?

---

### الآية 37:155

> أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ [37:155]

أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ


Will you not then remember?

---

### الآية 37:156

> أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَانٌ مُبِينٌ [37:156]

أَمۡ لَكُمۡ سُلۡطَٰنٞ مُّبِينٞ


Or is there for you a plain authority?

---

### الآية 37:157

> فَأْتُوا بِكِتَابِكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ [37:157]

فَأۡتُواْ بِكِتَٰبِكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ


Then bring your Book if you are truthful!

### الآية 37:158

> وَجَعَلُوا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ الْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ [37:158]

وَجَعَلُواْ بَيۡنَهُۥ وَبَيۡنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ نَسَبٗاۚ وَلَقَدۡ عَلِمَتِ ٱلۡجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمۡ لَمُحۡضَرُونَ


And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts).

### الآية 37:159

> سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ [37:159]

سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ


Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him!

---

### الآية 37:160

> إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ [37:160]

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ


Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah).

### الآية 37:161

> فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ [37:161]

فَإِنَّكُمۡ وَمَا تَعۡبُدُونَ


So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols).

---

### الآية 37:162

> مَا أَنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَاتِنِينَ [37:162]

مَآ أَنتُمۡ عَلَيۡهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ


Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers],

---

### الآية 37:163

> إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ الْجَحِيمِ [37:163]

إِلَّا مَنۡ هُوَ صَالِ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ


Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell!

---

### الآية 37:164

> وَمَا مِنَّا إِلَّا لَهُ مَقَامٌ مَعْلُومٌ [37:164]

وَمَامِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٞ مَّعۡلُومٞ


There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position);

---

### الآية 37:165

> وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الصَّافُّونَ [37:165]

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ


Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers);

---

### الآية 37:166

> وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْمُسَبِّحُونَ [37:166]

وَإِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحُونَ


Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers).

### الآية 37:167

> وَإِنْ كَانُوا لَيَقُولُونَ [37:167]

وَإِن كَانُواْ لَيَقُولُونَ


And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say;

---

### الآية 37:168

> لَوْ أَنَّ عِنْدَنَا ذِكْرًا مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ [37:168]

لَوۡ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكۡرٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ


"If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah).

### الآية 37:169

> لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ [37:169]

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلۡمُخۡلَصِينَ


"We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!"

### الآية 37:170

> فَكَفَرُوا بِهِ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ [37:170]

فَكَفَرُواْ بِهِۦۖ فَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ


But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know!

### الآية 37:171

> وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:171]

وَلَقَدۡ سَبَقَتۡ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ


And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers,

---

### الآية 37:172

> إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ الْمَنْصُورُونَ [37:172]

إِنَّهُمۡ لَهُمُ ٱلۡمَنصُورُونَ


That they verily would be made triumphant.

---

### الآية 37:173

> وَإِنَّ جُنْدَنَا لَهُمُ الْغَالِبُونَ [37:173]

وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلۡغَٰلِبُونَ


And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors.

---

### الآية 37:174

> فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ [37:174]

فَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖ


So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while,

---

### الآية 37:175

> وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ [37:175]

وَأَبۡصِرۡهُمۡ فَسَوۡفَ يُبۡصِرُونَ


And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)!

---

### الآية 37:176

> أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ [37:176]

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ


Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment?

---

### الآية 37:177

> فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ [37:177]

فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمۡ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِينَ


Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned!

---

### الآية 37:178

> وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ [37:178]

وَتَوَلَّ عَنۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖ


So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while,

---

### الآية 37:179

> وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ [37:179]

وَأَبۡصِرۡ فَسَوۡفَ يُبۡصِرُونَ


And watch and they shall see (the torment)!

---

### الآية 37:180

> سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ [37:180]

سُبۡحَٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ ٱلۡعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ


Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him!

---

### الآية 37:181

> وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:181]

وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ


And peace be on the Messengers!

---

### الآية 37:182

> وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [37:182]

وَٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ


And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).
