### الآية 37:1

> وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا [37:1]

1. By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows).

### الآية 37:2

> ﻿فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا [37:2]

2. By those (angels) who drive the clouds in a good way.

### الآية 37:3

> ﻿فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا [37:3]

3. By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Qur’ân from Allâh to mankind \[Tafsir Ibn Kathîr\].

### الآية 37:4

> ﻿إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ [37:4]

4. Verily your Ilâh (God) is indeed One (i.e. Allâh):

### الآية 37:5

> ﻿رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ [37:5]

5. Lord of the heavens and of the earth, and all that is between them, and Lord of every point of the sun’s risings.\[1\]

(V.37:5) The sun has approx. 365 points for its rising and 365 points for its setting (i.e. the number of days of a solar year). Every day it rises and sets in a new point, till the end of the year, then it comes back to the same point after a year. \[See Tafsir Al-Qurtubi,\].

### الآية 37:6

> ﻿إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ [37:6]

6. Verily We have adorned the near heaven with the stars (for beauty).\[2\]

### الآية 37:7

> ﻿وَحِفْظًا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَارِدٍ [37:7]

7. And to guard against every rebellious devil.

### الآية 37:8

> ﻿لَا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِنْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍ [37:8]

8. They cannot listen to the higher group (angels) for they are pelted from every side.

### الآية 37:9

> ﻿دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ [37:9]

9. Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment.

### الآية 37:10

> ﻿إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ [37:10]

10. Except such as snatch away something by stealing, and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness.

### الآية 37:11

> ﻿فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمْ مَنْ خَلَقْنَا ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُمْ مِنْ طِينٍ لَازِبٍ [37:11]

11. Then ask them (i.e. these polytheists, O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Are they stronger as creation, or those (others like the heavens and the earth and the mountains) whom We have created?" Verily, We created them of a sticky clay.

### الآية 37:12

> ﻿بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ [37:12]

12. Nay, you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) wondered (at their insolence) while they mock (at you and at the Qur’ân).

### الآية 37:13

> ﻿وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا لَا يَذْكُرُونَ [37:13]

13. And when they are reminded, they pay no attention.

### الآية 37:14

> ﻿وَإِذَا رَأَوْا آيَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ [37:14]

14. And when they see an Ayâh (a sign, or an evidence) from Allâh, they mock at it.

### الآية 37:15

> ﻿وَقَالُوا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ [37:15]

15. And they say: "This is nothing but evident magic!

### الآية 37:16

> ﻿أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ [37:16]

16. "When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected?

### الآية 37:17

> ﻿أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ [37:17]

17. "And also our fathers of old?"

### الآية 37:18

> ﻿قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنْتُمْ دَاخِرُونَ [37:18]

18. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Yes, and you shall then be humiliated."

### الآية 37:19

> ﻿فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ [37:19]

19. It will be a single Zajrah \[shout (i.e. the second blowing of the Trumpet)\], and behold, they will be staring!

### الآية 37:20

> ﻿وَقَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ [37:20]

20. They will say: "Woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense!"

### الآية 37:21

> ﻿هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ [37:21]

21. (It will be said): "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."

### الآية 37:22

> ﻿۞ احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَ [37:22]

22. (It will be said to the angels): "Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions (from the devils) and what they used to worship,

### الآية 37:23

> ﻿مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ [37:23]

23. "Instead of Allâh, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell);

### الآية 37:24

> ﻿وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ مَسْئُولُونَ [37:24]

24. "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned.

### الآية 37:25

> ﻿مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ [37:25]

25. "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?"

### الآية 37:26

> ﻿بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ [37:26]

26. Nay, but that Day they shall surrender.

### الآية 37:27

> ﻿وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ [37:27]

27. And they will turn to one another and question one another.

### الآية 37:28

> ﻿قَالُوا إِنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ الْيَمِينِ [37:28]

28. They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side \[i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, enjoin on us polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and from every good deed\]."

### الآية 37:29

> ﻿قَالُوا بَلْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ [37:29]

29. They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers.

### الآية 37:30

> ﻿وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ سُلْطَانٍ ۖ بَلْ كُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا طَاغِينَ [37:30]

30. "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were Tâghûn (transgressing) people (polytheists, and disbelievers).

### الآية 37:31

> ﻿فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَا ۖ إِنَّا لَذَائِقُونَ [37:31]

31. "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment).

### الآية 37:32

> ﻿فَأَغْوَيْنَاكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَاوِينَ [37:32]

32. "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray."

### الآية 37:33

> ﻿فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ [37:33]

33. Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment.

### الآية 37:34

> ﻿إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ [37:34]

34. Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimûn (polytheists, sinners, disbelievers, criminals, the disobedient to Allâh).

### الآية 37:35

> ﻿إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ [37:35]

35. Truly, when it was said to them: Lâ ilâha illallâh "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh)," they puffed themselves up with pride\[1\] (i.e. denied it).

### الآية 37:36

> ﻿وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُو آلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَجْنُونٍ [37:36]

36. And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our âlihah (gods) for the sake of a mad poet?"

### الآية 37:37

> ﻿بَلْ جَاءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:37]

37. Nay! he (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) has come with the truth (i.e. Allâh’s religion - Islâmic Monotheism and this Qur’ân) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allâh’s religion - Islâmic Monotheism).

### الآية 37:38

> ﻿إِنَّكُمْ لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الْأَلِيمِ [37:38]

38. Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment;

### الآية 37:39

> ﻿وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ [37:39]

39. And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allâh’s disobedience which you used to do in this world)

### الآية 37:40

> ﻿إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ [37:40]

40. Save the chosen slaves of Allâh (i.e. the true believers of Islâmic Monotheism).

### الآية 37:41

> ﻿أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَعْلُومٌ [37:41]

41. For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise),

### الآية 37:42

> ﻿فَوَاكِهُ ۖ وَهُمْ مُكْرَمُونَ [37:42]

42. Fruits; and they shall be honoured,

### الآية 37:43

> ﻿فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ [37:43]

43. In the Gardens of delight (Paradise),

### الآية 37:44

> ﻿عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ [37:44]

44. Facing one another on thrones.

### الآية 37:45

> ﻿يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِكَأْسٍ مِنْ مَعِينٍ [37:45]

45. Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine -

### الآية 37:46

> ﻿بَيْضَاءَ لَذَّةٍ لِلشَّارِبِينَ [37:46]

46. White, delicious to the drinkers.

### الآية 37:47

> ﻿لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنْزَفُونَ [37:47]

47. Neither will they have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom.

### الآية 37:48

> ﻿وَعِنْدَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ [37:48]

48. And beside them will be Qâsirât-at-Tarf \[chaste females (wives), restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands)\], with wide and beautiful eyes.\[2\]

### الآية 37:49

> ﻿كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَكْنُونٌ [37:49]

49. (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved.

### الآية 37:50

> ﻿فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ [37:50]

50. Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning.

### الآية 37:51

> ﻿قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٌ [37:51]

51. A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world),

### الآية 37:52

> ﻿يَقُولُ أَإِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ [37:52]

52. Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death).

### الآية 37:53

> ﻿أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ [37:53]

53. "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?"

### الآية 37:54

> ﻿قَالَ هَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُطَّلِعُونَ [37:54]

54. (The speaker) said: "Will you look down?"

### الآية 37:55

> ﻿فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَآهُ فِي سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ [37:55]

55. So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire.

### الآية 37:56

> ﻿قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِنْ كِدْتَ لَتُرْدِينِ [37:56]

56. He said: "By Allâh! You have nearly ruined me.

### الآية 37:57

> ﻿وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنْتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِينَ [37:57]

57. "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)."

### الآية 37:58

> ﻿أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ [37:58]

58. (The dwellers of Paradise will say) "Are we then not to die (any more)?

### الآية 37:59

> ﻿إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ [37:59]

59. Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)."

### الآية 37:60

> ﻿إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ [37:60]

60. Truly, this is the supreme success!

### الآية 37:61

> ﻿لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ الْعَامِلُونَ [37:61]

61. For the like of this let the workers work.

### الآية 37:62

> ﻿أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ [37:62]

62. Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqûm (a horrible tree in Hell)?

### الآية 37:63

> ﻿إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهَا فِتْنَةً لِلظَّالِمِينَ [37:63]

63. Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zâlimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers).

### الآية 37:64

> ﻿إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِي أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ [37:64]

64. Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire,

### الآية 37:65

> ﻿طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُ رُءُوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ [37:65]

65. The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayâtîn (devils);

### الآية 37:66

> ﻿فَإِنَّهُمْ لَآكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ [37:66]

66. Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith.

### الآية 37:67

> ﻿ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِنْ حَمِيمٍ [37:67]

67. Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqûm in their bellies).

### الآية 37:68

> ﻿ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى الْجَحِيمِ [37:68]

68. Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell.

### الآية 37:69

> ﻿إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا آبَاءَهُمْ ضَالِّينَ [37:69]

69. Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path;

### الآية 37:70

> ﻿فَهُمْ عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ [37:70]

70. So they (too) hastened in their footsteps!

### الآية 37:71

> ﻿وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ [37:71]

71. And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them;

### الآية 37:72

> ﻿وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ مُنْذِرِينَ [37:72]

72. And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers);

### الآية 37:73

> ﻿فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ [37:73]

73. Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not).

### الآية 37:74

> ﻿إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ [37:74]

74. Except the chosen slaves of Allâh (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islâmic Monotheism).

### الآية 37:75

> ﻿وَلَقَدْ نَادَانَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ [37:75]

75. And indeed Nûh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request).

### الآية 37:76

> ﻿وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ [37:76]

76. And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (i.e. drowning),

### الآية 37:77

> ﻿وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ [37:77]

77\. And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth).

### الآية 37:78

> ﻿وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ [37:78]

78. And left for him (a goodly remembrance) among the later generations:

### الآية 37:79

> ﻿سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ [37:79]

79. "Salâm (peace) be upon Nûh (Noah) (from Us) among the ‘Âlamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists)!"

### الآية 37:80

> ﻿إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ [37:80]

80. Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers - See V.2:112).

### الآية 37:81

> ﻿إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [37:81]

81. Verily, he \[Nûh (Noah)\] was one of Our believing slaves.

### الآية 37:82

> ﻿ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ [37:82]

82. Then We drowned the others (disbelievers and polytheists).

### الآية 37:83

> ﻿۞ وَإِنَّ مِنْ شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ [37:83]

83. And, verily, among those who followed his \[Nûh’s (Noah)\] way (Islâmic Monotheism) was Ibrâhîm (Abraham).

### الآية 37:84

> ﻿إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّهُ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ [37:84]

84. When he came to his Lord with a pure heart \[attached to Allâh Alone and none else, worshipping none but Allâh Alone - true Islâmic Monotheism, pure from the filth of polytheism\].

### الآية 37:85

> ﻿إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ [37:85]

85. When he said to his father and to his people: "What is it that which you worship?

### الآية 37:86

> ﻿أَئِفْكًا آلِهَةً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ [37:86]

86. "Is it a falsehood - âlihah (gods) other than Allâh - that you desire?

### الآية 37:87

> ﻿فَمَا ظَنُّكُمْ بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [37:87]

87. "Then what think you about the Lord of the ‘Âlamîn (mankind, jinn, and all that exists)?"

### الآية 37:88

> ﻿فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِي النُّجُومِ [37:88]

88. Then he cast a glance at the stars,

### الآية 37:89

> ﻿فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٌ [37:89]

89. And he said: "Verily, I am sick\[1\] (with plague). \[He did this trick to remain in their temple of idols to destroy them and not to accompany them to the pagan feast)\]."

### الآية 37:90

> ﻿فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ [37:90]

90. So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease).

### الآية 37:91

> ﻿فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰ آلِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ [37:91]

91. Then he turned to their âlihah (gods) and said: "Will you not eat (of the offering before you)?

### الآية 37:92

> ﻿مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنْطِقُونَ [37:92]

92. "What is the matter with you that you speak not?"

### الآية 37:93

> ﻿فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًا بِالْيَمِينِ [37:93]

93. Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand.

### الآية 37:94

> ﻿فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ [37:94]

94. Then they (the worshippers of idols) came, towards him, hastening.

### الآية 37:95

> ﻿قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ [37:95]

95. He said: "Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve?

### الآية 37:96

> ﻿وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ [37:96]

96. "While Allâh has created you and what you make!"

### الآية 37:97

> ﻿قَالُوا ابْنُوا لَهُ بُنْيَانًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ [37:97]

97. They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!"

### الآية 37:98

> ﻿فَأَرَادُوا بِهِ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ الْأَسْفَلِينَ [37:98]

98. So they plotted a plot against him, but We made them the lowest.

### الآية 37:99

> ﻿وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ [37:99]

99. And he said (after his rescue from the fire): "Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!"

### الآية 37:100

> ﻿رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ [37:100]

100. "My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous."

### الآية 37:101

> ﻿فَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِغُلَامٍ حَلِيمٍ [37:101]

101. So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy.

### الآية 37:102

> ﻿فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْيَ قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ إِنِّي أَرَىٰ فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذْبَحُكَ فَانْظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَا أَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِي إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ [37:102]

102. And, when he (his son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: "O my son! I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you (offering you in sacrifice to Allâh). So look what you think!" He said: "O my father! Do that which you are commanded, Inshâ’ Allâh (if Allâh wills), you shall find me of As-Sâbirûn (the patient)."

### الآية 37:103

> ﻿فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ [37:103]

103\. Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to the Will of Allâh), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (or on the side of his forehead for slaughtering);

### الآية 37:104

> ﻿وَنَادَيْنَاهُ أَنْ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ [37:104]

104. We called out to him: "O Abraham!

### الآية 37:105

> ﻿قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ [37:105]

105. You have fulfilled the dream!" Verily thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers - See 2:112).

### الآية 37:106

> ﻿إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلَاءُ الْمُبِينُ [37:106]

106. Verily, that indeed was a manifest trial.

### الآية 37:107

> ﻿وَفَدَيْنَاهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ [37:107]

107. And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. كبش - a ram);

### الآية 37:108

> ﻿وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ [37:108]

108. And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among the later generations.

### الآية 37:109

> ﻿سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ [37:109]

109. "Salâm (peace) be upon Ibrâhîm (Abraham)!"

### الآية 37:110

> ﻿كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ [37:110]

110. Thus indeed do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers - See V.2:112).

### الآية 37:111

> ﻿إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [37:111]

111. Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves.

### الآية 37:112

> ﻿وَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِإِسْحَاقَ نَبِيًّا مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ [37:112]

112. And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishâq (Isaac) - a Prophet from the righteous.

### الآية 37:113

> ﻿وَبَارَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ إِسْحَاقَ ۚ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِنَفْسِهِ مُبِينٌ [37:113]

113. We blessed him and Ishâq (Isaac). And of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves.

### الآية 37:114

> ﻿وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ [37:114]

114. And, indeed We gave Our Grace to Mûsâ (Moses) and Hârûn (Aaron).

### الآية 37:115

> ﻿وَنَجَّيْنَاهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ [37:115]

115. And We saved them and their people from the great distress,

### الآية 37:116

> ﻿وَنَصَرْنَاهُمْ فَكَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ [37:116]

116. And helped them, so that they became the victors;

### الآية 37:117

> ﻿وَآتَيْنَاهُمَا الْكِتَابَ الْمُسْتَبِينَ [37:117]

117. And We gave them the clear Scripture;

### الآية 37:118

> ﻿وَهَدَيْنَاهُمَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ [37:118]

118. And guided them to the Right Path.

### الآية 37:119

> ﻿وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِي الْآخِرِينَ [37:119]

119. And We left for them (a goodly remembrance) among the later generations.

### الآية 37:120

> ﻿سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ [37:120]

120. "Salâm (peace) be upon Mûsa (Moses) and Hârûn (Aaron)!"

### الآية 37:121

> ﻿إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ [37:121]

121. Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers - See V.2:112).

### الآية 37:122

> ﻿إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [37:122]

122. Verily, they were two of Our believing slaves.

### الآية 37:123

> ﻿وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:123]

123. And verily, Iliyâs (Elias) was one of the Messengers.

### الآية 37:124

> ﻿إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ [37:124]

124. When he said to his people: "Will you not fear Allâh?

### الآية 37:125

> ﻿أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ الْخَالِقِينَ [37:125]

125. "Will you call upon Ba‘l (a well known idol of his nation whom they used to worship) and forsake the Best of creators,

### الآية 37:126

> ﻿اللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ [37:126]

126. "Allâh, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?"

### الآية 37:127

> ﻿فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ [37:127]

127. But they denied him \[Iliyâs (Elias)\], so they will certainly be brought forth (to the punishment),

### الآية 37:128

> ﻿إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ [37:128]

128. Except the chosen slaves of Allâh.

### الآية 37:129

> ﻿وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ [37:129]

129. And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among the later generations.

### الآية 37:130

> ﻿سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِلْ يَاسِينَ [37:130]

130. "Salâm (peace) be upon Ilyâsîn (Elias)!"

### الآية 37:131

> ﻿إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ [37:131]

131. Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinûn (good-doers, who perform good deeds totally for Allâh’s sake only - See V.2:112).

### الآية 37:132

> ﻿إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ [37:132]

132. Verily, he was one of Our believing slaves.

### الآية 37:133

> ﻿وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:133]

133. And verily, Lût (Lot) was one of the Messengers.

### الآية 37:134

> ﻿إِذْ نَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ [37:134]

134. When We saved him and his family, all,

### الآية 37:135

> ﻿إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ [37:135]

135. Except an old woman (his wife) who was among those who remained behind.

### الآية 37:136

> ﻿ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ [37:136]

136. Then We destroyed the rest (the town of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea now in Palestine).

### الآية 37:137

> ﻿وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِمْ مُصْبِحِينَ [37:137]

137. Verily, you pass by them in the morning

### الآية 37:138

> ﻿وَبِاللَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ [37:138]

138. And at night; will you not then reflect?

### الآية 37:139

> ﻿وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:139]

139. And, verily, Yûnus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers.

### الآية 37:140

> ﻿إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ [37:140]

**140. When he ran to the laden ship:**

### الآية 37:141

> ﻿فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِينَ [37:141]

141. Then he (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers.

### الآية 37:142

> ﻿فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ [37:142]

142. Then a (big) fish swallowed him as he had done an act worthy of blame.

### الآية 37:143

> ﻿فَلَوْلَا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ [37:143]

143. Had he not been of them who glorify Allâh,

### الآية 37:144

> ﻿لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطْنِهِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ [37:144]

144. He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection.

### الآية 37:145

> ﻿۞ فَنَبَذْنَاهُ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ [37:145]

145. But We cast him forth on the naked shore while he was sick,

### الآية 37:146

> ﻿وَأَنْبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِنْ يَقْطِينٍ [37:146]

146. And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him.

### الآية 37:147

> ﻿وَأَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ [37:147]

147. And We sent him to a hundred thousand (people) or even more.

### الآية 37:148

> ﻿فَآمَنُوا فَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ [37:148]

148. And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while.

### الآية 37:149

> ﻿فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ الْبَنُونَ [37:149]

149. Now ask them (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?"

### الآية 37:150

> ﻿أَمْ خَلَقْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِنَاثًا وَهُمْ شَاهِدُونَ [37:150]

150. Or did We create the angels female while they were witnesses?

### الآية 37:151

> ﻿أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ مِنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ [37:151]

151. Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say:

### الآية 37:152

> ﻿وَلَدَ اللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ [37:152]

152. "Allâh has begotten \[offspring - the angels being the daughters of Allâh)?" And, verily, they are liars!

### الآية 37:153

> ﻿أَصْطَفَى الْبَنَاتِ عَلَى الْبَنِينَ [37:153]

153. Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons?

### الآية 37:154

> ﻿مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ [37:154]

154. What is the matter with you? How do you decide?

### الآية 37:155

> ﻿أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ [37:155]

155. Will you not then remember?

### الآية 37:156

> ﻿أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَانٌ مُبِينٌ [37:156]

156. Or is there for you a plain authority?

### الآية 37:157

> ﻿فَأْتُوا بِكِتَابِكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ [37:157]

157. Then bring your Book if you are truthful!

### الآية 37:158

> ﻿وَجَعَلُوا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ الْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ [37:158]

158. And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinn, but the jinn know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be called to account).

### الآية 37:159

> ﻿سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ [37:159]

159. Glorified be Allâh! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him!

### الآية 37:160

> ﻿إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ [37:160]

160. Except the slaves of Allâh, whom He chooses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islâmic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allâh).

### الآية 37:161

> ﻿فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ [37:161]

161. So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols)

### الآية 37:162

> ﻿مَا أَنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَاتِنِينَ [37:162]

162. Cannot lead astray \[turn away from Him (Allâh) anyone of the believers\],

### الآية 37:163

> ﻿إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ الْجَحِيمِ [37:163]

163. Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell!

### الآية 37:164

> ﻿وَمَا مِنَّا إِلَّا لَهُ مَقَامٌ مَعْلُومٌ [37:164]

164. And there is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position);

### الآية 37:165

> ﻿وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الصَّافُّونَ [37:165]

165. And verily, we (angels), we stand in rows (for the prayers as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers);

### الآية 37:166

> ﻿وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْمُسَبِّحُونَ [37:166]

166. And verily, we (angels), indeed are those who glorify (Allâh’s Praises i.e. perform prayers).

### الآية 37:167

> ﻿وَإِنْ كَانُوا لَيَقُولُونَ [37:167]

167. And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say:

### الآية 37:168

> ﻿لَوْ أَنَّ عِنْدَنَا ذِكْرًا مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ [37:168]

168. "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم as a Messenger of Allâh),

### الآية 37:169

> ﻿لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ [37:169]

169. "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allâh (true believers of Islâmic Monotheism)!"

### الآية 37:170

> ﻿فَكَفَرُوا بِهِ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ [37:170]

170. But (now that the Qur’ân has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Qur’ân and in Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم , and all that he brought, - the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know!\[1\]

### الآية 37:171

> ﻿وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:171]

171. And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers,

### الآية 37:172

> ﻿إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ الْمَنْصُورُونَ [37:172]

172. That they verily would be made triumphant,

### الآية 37:173

> ﻿وَإِنَّ جُنْدَنَا لَهُمُ الْغَالِبُونَ [37:173]

173. And that Our hosts! they verily would be the victors.

### الآية 37:174

> ﻿فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ [37:174]

174. So turn away (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) from them for a while,

### الآية 37:175

> ﻿وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ [37:175]

175. And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)!

### الآية 37:176

> ﻿أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ [37:176]

176. Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment?

### الآية 37:177

> ﻿فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ [37:177]

177. Then, when it descends in their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned!

### الآية 37:178

> ﻿وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ [37:178]

178. So turn (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) away from them for a while,

### الآية 37:179

> ﻿وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ [37:179]

179. And watch and they shall see (the torment)!

### الآية 37:180

> ﻿سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ [37:180]

180. Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him!

### الآية 37:181

> ﻿وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ [37:181]

181. And peace be on the Messengers!

### الآية 37:182

> ﻿وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [37:182]

182. And all the praises and thanks be to Allâh, Lord of the ‘Âlamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).
