### الآية 44:1

> حم [44:1]

Ḥā. Mīm.

### الآية 44:2

> وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ [44:2]

By the Book that makes things clear!

### الآية 44:3

> إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنْذِرِينَ [44:3]

We have bestowed it from on high on a blessed night; for, indeed, We have always sent warnings.

### الآية 44:4

> فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ [44:4]

On that night every matter of wisdom is made clear

### الآية 44:5

> أَمْرًا مِنْ عِنْدِنَا ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ [44:5]

by Our command; for, indeed, We have always sent messages \[of guidance\]

### الآية 44:6

> رَحْمَةً مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ [44:6]

as a mercy from your Lord. He alone is the One who hears all and knows all;

### الآية 44:7

> رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُوقِنِينَ [44:7]

the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you were firm believers.

### الآية 44:8

> لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ [44:8]

There is no deity other than Him; He gives life and deals death. He is your Lord and the Lord of your earliest ancestors.

### الآية 44:9

> بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ [44:9]

Yet they remain in doubt, playing about.

### الآية 44:10

> فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ [44:10]

Wait, then, for the Day when the skies shall bring forth a kind of smoke which will make things clear.

### الآية 44:11

> يَغْشَى النَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ [44:11]

It will envelope the people. Painful is this suffering!

### الآية 44:12

> رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ [44:12]

\[They will cry\]: ‘Our Lord! Relieve us from this suffering; for, indeed, we are believers’.

### الآية 44:13

> أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُبِينٌ [44:13]

How will this remembrance benefit them? A messenger who clearly explained things had previously come to them;

### الآية 44:14

> ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَجْنُونٌ [44:14]

but they turned their backs on him and said: ‘He is taught by others, a madman!’

### الآية 44:15

> إِنَّا كَاشِفُو الْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ [44:15]

We shall remove this suffering for a while; but you are bound to revert \[to your old ways\].

### الآية 44:16

> يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ إِنَّا مُنْتَقِمُونَ [44:16]

On that Day We shall deliver a mighty onslaught; We will indeed exact retribution.

### الآية 44:17

> ۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ [44:17]

We did, before their time, try Pharaoh’s people: there came to them a noble messenger,

### الآية 44:18

> أَنْ أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ [44:18]

who said to them: ‘Give in to me, you servants of God! For, I am indeed a messenger sent to you, worthy of trust!

### الآية 44:19

> وَأَنْ لَا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي آتِيكُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ [44:19]

Do not exalt yourselves against God; for, indeed, I come to you with manifest authority.

### الآية 44:20

> وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَنْ تَرْجُمُونِ [44:20]

I seek refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you hurl stones at me.

### الآية 44:21

> وَإِنْ لَمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَاعْتَزِلُونِ [44:21]

If you do not believe me, stand away from me’.

### الآية 44:22

> فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ قَوْمٌ مُجْرِمُونَ [44:22]

He, then called out to his Lord, saying: ‘These people are lost in sin’.

### الآية 44:23

> فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلًا إِنَّكُمْ مُتَّبَعُونَ [44:23]

And \[God said\]: ‘Set forth with My servants by night, for you will surely be pursued;

### الآية 44:24

> وَاتْرُكِ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُنْدٌ مُغْرَقُونَ [44:24]

and leave the sea calm behind you; for their host are destined to be drowned’.

### الآية 44:25

> كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِنْ جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ [44:25]

How many gardens did they leave behind, and how many fountains,

### الآية 44:26

> وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ [44:26]

and fields of grain, and noble dwellings,

### الآية 44:27

> وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ [44:27]

and good things in which they used to delight!

### الآية 44:28

> كَذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ [44:28]

Thus it was. And We made other people inherit it all.

### الآية 44:29

> فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ [44:29]

Neither heaven nor earth shed tears over them, nor were they allowed a respite.

### الآية 44:30

> وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ [44:30]

We saved the Children of Israel from humiliating suffering,

### الآية 44:31

> مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ [44:31]

from Pharaoh, who was arrogant and a transgressor.

### الآية 44:32

> وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ [44:32]

We chose them knowingly above all other people.

### الآية 44:33

> وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ مِنَ الْآيَاتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَاءٌ مُبِينٌ [44:33]

And We gave them signs in which there was a clear test.

### الآية 44:34

> إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَيَقُولُونَ [44:34]

**Now these people assert:**

### الآية 44:35

> إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنْشَرِينَ [44:35]

‘We shall die but one death, and we shall not be raised to life again.

### الآية 44:36

> فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ [44:36]

Bring back our forefathers, if what you claim be true’.

### الآية 44:37

> أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ [44:37]

Are they better than the people of TubbaꜤ and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were lost in sin?

### الآية 44:38

> وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَاعِبِينَ [44:38]

We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play.

### الآية 44:39

> مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ [44:39]

We created them all for nothing other than a true purpose, but most of them do not understand.

### الآية 44:40

> إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ [44:40]

The Day of Decision is the time appointed for all of them.

### الآية 44:41

> يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَنْ مَوْلًى شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ [44:41]

It is a day when no friend shall be of the least avail to his friend, and when none shall receive support

### الآية 44:42

> إِلَّا مَنْ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ [44:42]

except those upon whom God will have bestowed His grace and mercy. He alone is the Almighty, the Ever-Merciful.

### الآية 44:43

> إِنَّ شَجَرَتَ الزَّقُّومِ [44:43]

The fruit of the Zaqqum tree

### الآية 44:44

> طَعَامُ الْأَثِيمِ [44:44]

will be the food of the sinful;

### الآية 44:45

> كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُونِ [44:45]

like molten lead will it boil in the belly,

### الآية 44:46

> كَغَلْيِ الْحَمِيمِ [44:46]

like the boiling of scalding water.

### الآية 44:47

> خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَىٰ سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ [44:47]

‘Take him, and drag him into the midst of the blazing Fire;

### الآية 44:48

> ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ [44:48]

then pour over his head the suffering of scalding water!

### الآية 44:49

> ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْكَرِيمُ [44:49]

Taste this, you powerful and honourable man!

### الآية 44:50

> إِنَّ هَٰذَا مَا كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ [44:50]

This is the very thing you surely doubted’.

### الآية 44:51

> إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ [44:51]

The God-fearing will certainly be in a safe position,

### الآية 44:52

> فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ [44:52]

amid gardens and fountains,

### الآية 44:53

> يَلْبَسُونَ مِنْ سُنْدُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ [44:53]

wearing garments of silk and brocade, facing one another.

### الآية 44:54

> كَذَٰلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِينٍ [44:54]

Thus shall it be. And We shall pair them with pure companions with most beautiful eyes.

### الآية 44:55

> يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ آمِنِينَ [44:55]

There they can call for every kind of fruit, enjoying peace and security.

### الآية 44:56

> لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا الْمَوْتَ إِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ [44:56]

They shall not taste death there, having had their one death. He will have preserved them from suffering through the blazing Fire,

### الآية 44:57

> فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّكَ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ [44:57]

an act of your Lord’s favour. That is the supreme triumph.

### الآية 44:58

> فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ [44:58]

We have made this Qur’an easy to understand, in your own language, so that they may take heed.

### الآية 44:59

> فَارْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُمْ مُرْتَقِبُونَ [44:59]

Wait, then; they too are waiting.
