### الآية 50:1

> ق ۚ وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ [50:1]

### الآية 50:2

> بَلْ عَجِبُوا أَنْ جَاءَهُمْ مُنْذِرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ الْكَافِرُونَ هَٰذَا شَيْءٌ عَجِيبٌ [50:2]

(2) But they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say, "This is an amazing thing.

### الآية 50:3

> أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا ۖ ذَٰلِكَ رَجْعٌ بَعِيدٌ [50:3]

(3) When we have died and have become dust, \[we will return to life\]? That is a distant \[i.e., unlikely\] return."

### الآية 50:4

> قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا تَنْقُصُ الْأَرْضُ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَعِنْدَنَا كِتَابٌ حَفِيظٌ [50:4]

(4) We know what the earth diminishes \[i.e., consumes\] of them, and with Us is a retaining record.

### الآية 50:5

> بَلْ كَذَّبُوا بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ فَهُمْ فِي أَمْرٍ مَرِيجٍ [50:5]

(5) But they denied the truth when it came to them, so they are in a confused condition.

### الآية 50:6

> أَفَلَمْ يَنْظُرُوا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَوْقَهُمْ كَيْفَ بَنَيْنَاهَا وَزَيَّنَّاهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِنْ فُرُوجٍ [50:6]

(6) Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and \[how\] it has no rifts?

### الآية 50:7

> وَالْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ زَوْجٍ بَهِيجٍ [50:7]

(7) And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein \[something\] of every beautiful kind,

### الآية 50:8

> تَبْصِرَةً وَذِكْرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبْدٍ مُنِيبٍ [50:8]

(8) Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns \[to Allāh\].

### الآية 50:9

> وَنَزَّلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً مُبَارَكًا فَأَنْبَتْنَا بِهِ جَنَّاتٍ وَحَبَّ الْحَصِيدِ [50:9]

(9) And We have sent down blessed rain from the sky and made grow thereby gardens and grain from the harvest

### الآية 50:10

> وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍ لَهَا طَلْعٌ نَضِيدٌ [50:10]

(10) And lofty palm trees having fruit arranged in layers -

### الآية 50:11

> رِزْقًا لِلْعِبَادِ ۖ وَأَحْيَيْنَا بِهِ بَلْدَةً مَيْتًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ الْخُرُوجُ [50:11]

(11) As provision for the servants, and We have given life thereby to a dead land. Thus is the emergence \[i.e., resurrection\].

### الآية 50:12

> كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَأَصْحَابُ الرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ [50:12]

(12) The people of Noah denied before them,\[1526\] and the companions of the well\[1527\] and Thamūd
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1526\]- i.e., before the disbelievers of Makkah.

### الآية 50:13

> وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ وَإِخْوَانُ لُوطٍ [50:13]

(13) And ʿAad and Pharaoh and the brothers \[i.e., people\] of Lot

### الآية 50:14

> وَأَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ وَقَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ ۚ كُلٌّ كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ [50:14]

(14) And the companions of the thicket and the people of Tubbaʿ. All denied the messengers, so My threat was justly fulfilled.

### الآية 50:15

> أَفَعَيِينَا بِالْخَلْقِ الْأَوَّلِ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِي لَبْسٍ مِنْ خَلْقٍ جَدِيدٍ [50:15]

(15) Did We fail in the first creation? But they are in confusion over a new creation.

### الآية 50:16

> وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِ نَفْسُهُ ۖ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيدِ [50:16]

(16) And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer\[1528\] to him than \[his\] jugular vein.

\[1528\]- In absolute knowledge of everything about him. "We" has also been interpreted to mean the angels who are mentioned in the following verse.

### الآية 50:17

> إِذْ يَتَلَقَّى الْمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٌ [50:17]

(17) When the two receivers \[i.e., recording angels\] receive,\[1529\] seated on the right and on the left.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1529\]- And record each word and deed.

### الآية 50:18

> مَا يَلْفِظُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ [50:18]

(18) He \[i.e., man\] utters no word except that with him is an observer prepared \[to record\].

### الآية 50:19

> وَجَاءَتْ سَكْرَةُ الْمَوْتِ بِالْحَقِّ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ مَا كُنْتَ مِنْهُ تَحِيدُ [50:19]

(19) And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid.

### الآية 50:20

> وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ الْوَعِيدِ [50:20]

(20) And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of \[carrying out\] the threat.

### الآية 50:21

> وَجَاءَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَعَهَا سَائِقٌ وَشَهِيدٌ [50:21]

(21) And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness.\[1530\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1530\]- i.e., one angel driving the soul to the Judgement and one to testify as to its deeds.

### الآية 50:22

> لَقَدْ كُنْتَ فِي غَفْلَةٍ مِنْ هَٰذَا فَكَشَفْنَا عَنْكَ غِطَاءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ الْيَوْمَ حَدِيدٌ [50:22]

(22) \[It will be said\], "You were certainly in unmindfulness of this, and We have removed from you your cover,\[1531\] so your sight, this Day, is sharp."
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1531\]- Of heedlessness, or that which had sealed your hearing, your vision and your heart from guidance.

### الآية 50:23

> وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُ هَٰذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيدٌ [50:23]

(23) And his companion, \[the angel\], will say, "This \[record\] is what is with me, prepared."

### الآية 50:24

> أَلْقِيَا فِي جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ [50:24]

(24) \[Allāh will say\], "Throw into Hell every obstinate disbeliever,

### الآية 50:25

> مَنَّاعٍ لِلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ مُرِيبٍ [50:25]

(25) Preventer of good, aggressor, and doubter,

### الآية 50:26

> الَّذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ فَأَلْقِيَاهُ فِي الْعَذَابِ الشَّدِيدِ [50:26]

(26) Who made \[as equal\] with Allāh another deity; then throw him into the severe punishment."

### الآية 50:27

> ۞ قَالَ قَرِينُهُ رَبَّنَا مَا أَطْغَيْتُهُ وَلَٰكِنْ كَانَ فِي ضَلَالٍ بَعِيدٍ [50:27]

(27) His \[devil\] companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not make him transgress, but he \[himself\] was in extreme error."

### الآية 50:28

> قَالَ لَا تَخْتَصِمُوا لَدَيَّ وَقَدْ قَدَّمْتُ إِلَيْكُمْ بِالْوَعِيدِ [50:28]

(28) \[Allāh\] will say, "Do not dispute before Me, while I had already presented to you the threat \[i.e., warning\].

### الآية 50:29

> مَا يُبَدَّلُ الْقَوْلُ لَدَيَّ وَمَا أَنَا بِظَلَّامٍ لِلْعَبِيدِ [50:29]

(29) The word \[i.e., decree\] will not be changed with Me, and never will I be unjust to the servants."

### الآية 50:30

> يَوْمَ نَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلِ امْتَلَأْتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ مَزِيدٍ [50:30]

(30) On the Day We will say to Hell, "Have you been filled?" and it will say, "Are there some more,"

### الآية 50:31

> وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ [50:31]

(31) And Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, not far,

### الآية 50:32

> هَٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّابٍ حَفِيظٍ [50:32]

(32) \[It will be said\], "This is what you were promised - for every returner \[to Allāh\] and keeper \[of His covenant\].

### الآية 50:33

> مَنْ خَشِيَ الرَّحْمَٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَجَاءَ بِقَلْبٍ مُنِيبٍ [50:33]

(33) Who feared the Most Merciful in the unseen and came with a heart returning \[in repentance\].

### الآية 50:34

> ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ الْخُلُودِ [50:34]

(34) Enter it in peace. This is the Day of Eternity."

### الآية 50:35

> لَهُمْ مَا يَشَاءُونَ فِيهَا وَلَدَيْنَا مَزِيدٌ [50:35]

(35) They will have whatever they wish therein, and with Us is more.

### الآية 50:36

> وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنْ قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ بَطْشًا فَنَقَّبُوا فِي الْبِلَادِ هَلْ مِنْ مَحِيصٍ [50:36]

(36) And how many a generation before them did We destroy who were greater than them in \[striking\] power and had explored throughout the lands. Is there any place of escape?

### الآية 50:37

> إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْرَىٰ لِمَنْ كَانَ لَهُ قَلْبٌ أَوْ أَلْقَى السَّمْعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ [50:37]

(37) Indeed in that is a reminder for whoever has a heart or who listens while he is present \[in mind\].

### الآية 50:38

> وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِنْ لُغُوبٍ [50:38]

(38) And We did certainly create the heavens and earth and what is between them in six days, and there touched Us no weariness.

### الآية 50:39

> فَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوبِ [50:39]

(39) So be patient, \[O Muḥammad\], over what they say and exalt \[Allāh\] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting,

### الآية 50:40

> وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ [50:40]

(40) And \[in part\] of the night exalt Him and after prostration \[i.e., prayer\].

### الآية 50:41

> وَاسْتَمِعْ يَوْمَ يُنَادِ الْمُنَادِ مِنْ مَكَانٍ قَرِيبٍ [50:41]

(41) And listen on the Day when the Caller\[1532\] will call out from a place that is near -
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1532\]- An angel who will call out Allāh's command for the Resurrection.

### الآية 50:42

> يَوْمَ يَسْمَعُونَ الصَّيْحَةَ بِالْحَقِّ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ الْخُرُوجِ [50:42]

(42) The Day they will hear the blast \[of the Horn\] in truth. That is the Day of Emergence \[from the graves\].

### الآية 50:43

> إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي وَنُمِيتُ وَإِلَيْنَا الْمَصِيرُ [50:43]

(43) Indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and to Us is the destination

### الآية 50:44

> يَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ الْأَرْضُ عَنْهُمْ سِرَاعًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ حَشْرٌ عَلَيْنَا يَسِيرٌ [50:44]

(44) On the Day the earth breaks away from them \[and they emerge\] rapidly; that is a gathering easy for Us.

### الآية 50:45

> نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ ۖ وَمَا أَنْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِجَبَّارٍ ۖ فَذَكِّرْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مَنْ يَخَافُ وَعِيدِ [50:45]

(45) We are most knowing of what they say, and you are not over them a tyrant.\[1533\] But remind by the Qur’ān whoever fears My threat.

\[1533\]- Forcing people to belief or submission.
