### الآية 50:1

> ق ۚ وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ [50:1]

Qāf. By the glorious Qur'an.

### الآية 50:2

> بَلْ عَجِبُوا أَنْ جَاءَهُمْ مُنْذِرٌ مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ الْكَافِرُونَ هَٰذَا شَيْءٌ عَجِيبٌ [50:2]

But the unbelievers deem it strange that a warner from among themselves should have come to them and they say: ‘This is indeed most strange!

### الآية 50:3

> أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا ۖ ذَٰلِكَ رَجْعٌ بَعِيدٌ [50:3]

When we have died and become dust…? Such a return \[to life\] is too far-fetched’.

### الآية 50:4

> قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا تَنْقُصُ الْأَرْضُ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَعِنْدَنَا كِتَابٌ حَفِيظٌ [50:4]

We know very well what the earth takes away from them. We have an unfailing, comprehensive record.

### الآية 50:5

> بَلْ كَذَّبُوا بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ فَهُمْ فِي أَمْرٍ مَرِيجٍ [50:5]

Yet they deny the truth when it comes to them; and so they are in a state of confusion.

### الآية 50:6

> أَفَلَمْ يَنْظُرُوا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَوْقَهُمْ كَيْفَ بَنَيْنَاهَا وَزَيَّنَّاهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِنْ فُرُوجٍ [50:6]

Do they not look at the sky above them: how We have built it and adorned it, leaving no flaws in it.

### الآية 50:7

> وَالْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ زَوْجٍ بَهِيجٍ [50:7]

We spread out the earth and set upon it firm mountains, and caused every kind of delectable plants to grow on it,

### الآية 50:8

> تَبْصِرَةً وَذِكْرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبْدٍ مُنِيبٍ [50:8]

so that it serves as a lesson and a reminder to everyone who wishes to turn to God.

### الآية 50:9

> وَنَزَّلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً مُبَارَكًا فَأَنْبَتْنَا بِهِ جَنَّاتٍ وَحَبَّ الْحَصِيدِ [50:9]

We send down from the skies water rich in blessings, and We produce with it gardens and fields of grain,

### الآية 50:10

> وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍ لَهَا طَلْعٌ نَضِيدٌ [50:10]

and tall palm trees laden with clusters of dates,

### الآية 50:11

> رِزْقًا لِلْعِبَادِ ۖ وَأَحْيَيْنَا بِهِ بَلْدَةً مَيْتًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ الْخُرُوجُ [50:11]

providing sustenance suitable for people. Thus We bring dead land to life. So will \[people\] come forth from the dead.

### الآية 50:12

> كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَأَصْحَابُ الرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ [50:12]

Long before these unbelievers Noah’s people also disbelieved, as did the people of al-Rass, Thamud,

### الآية 50:13

> وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ وَإِخْوَانُ لُوطٍ [50:13]

\[Ad, Pharaoh, Lot’s brethren,

### الآية 50:14

> وَأَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ وَقَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ ۚ كُلٌّ كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ [50:14]

the dwellers of the wooded dales and the people of Tubba\[: They all disbelieved God’s messengers, and therefore My warnings came true.

### الآية 50:15

> أَفَعَيِينَا بِالْخَلْقِ الْأَوَّلِ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِي لَبْسٍ مِنْ خَلْقٍ جَدِيدٍ [50:15]

Were We worn out by the first creation? Yet they are still in doubt about a renewed creation.

### الآية 50:16

> وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِ نَفْسُهُ ۖ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ الْوَرِيدِ [50:16]

It is We who have created man, and We know what his soul whispers to him. We are closer to him than his jugular vein;

### الآية 50:17

> إِذْ يَتَلَقَّى الْمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ الْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ الشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٌ [50:17]

with two receptors set to record, one on his right and one on his left,

### الآية 50:18

> مَا يَلْفِظُ مِنْ قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ [50:18]

every word he utters \[is noted down by\] an ever-present watcher.

### الآية 50:19

> وَجَاءَتْ سَكْرَةُ الْمَوْتِ بِالْحَقِّ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ مَا كُنْتَ مِنْهُ تَحِيدُ [50:19]

The stupor of death brings with it the full truth: ‘This is what you tried to escape’.

### الآية 50:20

> وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ الْوَعِيدِ [50:20]

The Trumpet will be blown: ‘This is the Day \[you were\] warned of’.

### الآية 50:21

> وَجَاءَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَعَهَا سَائِقٌ وَشَهِيدٌ [50:21]

Every soul will come attended by one who will drive it on and another to bear witness.

### الآية 50:22

> لَقَدْ كُنْتَ فِي غَفْلَةٍ مِنْ هَٰذَا فَكَشَفْنَا عَنْكَ غِطَاءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ الْيَوْمَ حَدِيدٌ [50:22]

‘Of this you have been unmindful, but We have lifted your veil and sharp is your sight today.’

### الآية 50:23

> وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُ هَٰذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيدٌ [50:23]

And his companion will say: ‘Here is what I have recorded’.

### الآية 50:24

> أَلْقِيَا فِي جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ [50:24]

‘Cast into hell every hardened unbeliever,

### الآية 50:25

> مَنَّاعٍ لِلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ مُرِيبٍ [50:25]

everyone who hindered good, was a sinful aggressor, fomenter of doubt,

### الآية 50:26

> الَّذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ فَأَلْقِيَاهُ فِي الْعَذَابِ الشَّدِيدِ [50:26]

who set up another deity alongside God. Cast him into severe suffering.’

### الآية 50:27

> ۞ قَالَ قَرِينُهُ رَبَّنَا مَا أَطْغَيْتُهُ وَلَٰكِنْ كَانَ فِي ضَلَالٍ بَعِيدٍ [50:27]

His companion will say: ‘Our Lord! I did not make him transgress. He had already gone far astray’.

### الآية 50:28

> قَالَ لَا تَخْتَصِمُوا لَدَيَّ وَقَدْ قَدَّمْتُ إِلَيْكُمْ بِالْوَعِيدِ [50:28]

God will say: ‘Do not argue in My presence, for I had forewarned you.

### الآية 50:29

> مَا يُبَدَّلُ الْقَوْلُ لَدَيَّ وَمَا أَنَا بِظَلَّامٍ لِلْعَبِيدِ [50:29]

My word will not be altered; but never do I do the least wrong to My creatures’.

### الآية 50:30

> يَوْمَ نَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلِ امْتَلَأْتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلْ مِنْ مَزِيدٍ [50:30]

On that Day We will ask hell, ‘Are you full?’ and it will reply, ‘Are there no more?’

### الآية 50:31

> وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ [50:31]

And paradise will be brought close to the righteous and will no longer be distant:

### الآية 50:32

> هَٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّابٍ حَفِيظٍ [50:32]

‘This is what you have been promised; this is for everyone who used to turn to God and to keep Him in mind,

### الآية 50:33

> مَنْ خَشِيَ الرَّحْمَٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَجَاءَ بِقَلْبٍ مُنِيبٍ [50:33]

who used to stand in awe of the Lord of Grace although He is beyond the reach of human perception, and who comes before Him with a heart full of devotion.

### الآية 50:34

> ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ الْخُلُودِ [50:34]

Enter paradise in peace; this is the Day when everlasting life begins’.

### الآية 50:35

> لَهُمْ مَا يَشَاءُونَ فِيهَا وَلَدَيْنَا مَزِيدٌ [50:35]

There they shall have all that they desire, and We have even more for them.

### الآية 50:36

> وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُمْ مِنْ قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ بَطْشًا فَنَقَّبُوا فِي الْبِلَادِ هَلْ مِنْ مَحِيصٍ [50:36]

How many a generation, far greater in power, have We destroyed before these \[unbelievers\]? They wandered through the lands seeking a place of refuge.

### الآية 50:37

> إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْرَىٰ لِمَنْ كَانَ لَهُ قَلْبٌ أَوْ أَلْقَى السَّمْعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ [50:37]

In this there is a reminder for everyone who has an alert heart, or one who attentively listens and sees.

### الآية 50:38

> وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِنْ لُغُوبٍ [50:38]

We have indeed created the heavens and the earth and all that is in between in six eons. No weariness could ever touch Us.

### الآية 50:39

> فَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوبِ [50:39]

Bear, then, with patience whatever they may say, and extol your Lord’s limitless glory before the rising of the sun and before its setting;

### الآية 50:40

> وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَأَدْبَارَ السُّجُودِ [50:40]

and in the night, too, extol His glory, and at the end of every prayer.

### الآية 50:41

> وَاسْتَمِعْ يَوْمَ يُنَادِ الْمُنَادِ مِنْ مَكَانٍ قَرِيبٍ [50:41]

And listen out for the Day when the caller will call from a nearby place,

### الآية 50:42

> يَوْمَ يَسْمَعُونَ الصَّيْحَةَ بِالْحَقِّ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ الْخُرُوجِ [50:42]

the Day when they will in truth hear the Mighty Blast; that is the Day when they will come out \[of their graves\].

### الآية 50:43

> إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي وَنُمِيتُ وَإِلَيْنَا الْمَصِيرُ [50:43]

It is We who grant life and deal death; and to Us all shall return.

### الآية 50:44

> يَوْمَ تَشَقَّقُ الْأَرْضُ عَنْهُمْ سِرَاعًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ حَشْرٌ عَلَيْنَا يَسِيرٌ [50:44]

On the Day when the earth will be rent asunder all around them, letting them rush out. That gathering will be easy for Us.

### الآية 50:45

> نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ ۖ وَمَا أَنْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِجَبَّارٍ ۖ فَذَكِّرْ بِالْقُرْآنِ مَنْ يَخَافُ وَعِيدِ [50:45]

We are fully aware of what they say. You are not one to use coercion with them. Therefore, remind, with the Qur'an, those who fear My warning.
