Translation of Surah الطور from "Dr. Mustafa Khattab - English translation" in الإنجليزية. ### الآية 52:1 > وَالطُّورِ [52:1] At-Tur ------- --- وَٱلطُّورِ By Mount Ṭûr!1 --- ### الآية 52:2 > وَكِتَابٍ مَسْطُورٍ [52:2] وَكِتَٰبٖ مَّسۡطُورٖ And by the Book written --- ### الآية 52:3 > فِي رَقٍّ مَنْشُورٍ [52:3] فِي رَقّٖ مَّنشُورٖ on open pages ˹for all to read˺!1 --- ### الآية 52:4 > وَالْبَيْتِ الْمَعْمُورِ [52:4] وَٱلۡبَيۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡمُورِ And by the ˹Sacred˺ House frequently visited!1 --- ### الآية 52:5 > وَالسَّقْفِ الْمَرْفُوعِ [52:5] وَٱلسَّقۡفِ ٱلۡمَرۡفُوعِ And by the canopy raised ˹high˺! --- ### الآية 52:6 > وَالْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُورِ [52:6] وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ ٱلۡمَسۡجُورِ And by the seas set on fire!1 --- ### الآية 52:7 > إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَاقِعٌ [52:7] إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٞ Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will come to pass— --- ### الآية 52:8 > مَا لَهُ مِنْ دَافِعٍ [52:8] مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٖ none will avert it— --- ### الآية 52:9 > يَوْمَ تَمُورُ السَّمَاءُ مَوْرًا [52:9] يَوۡمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوۡرٗا on the Day the heavens will be shaken violently, --- ### الآية 52:10 > وَتَسِيرُ الْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا [52:10] وَتَسِيرُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ سَيۡرٗا and the mountains will be blown away entirely. --- ### الآية 52:11 > فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [52:11] فَوَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ Then woe on that Day to the deniers— --- ### الآية 52:12 > الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ [52:12] ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي خَوۡضٖ يَلۡعَبُونَ those who amuse themselves with falsehood! --- ### الآية 52:13 > يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا [52:13] يَوۡمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا ˹It is˺ the Day they will be fiercely shoved into the Fire of Hell. --- ### الآية 52:14 > هَٰذِهِ النَّارُ الَّتِي كُنْتُمْ بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ [52:14] هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِي كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ ˹They will be told,˺ “This is the Fire which you used to deny. --- ### الآية 52:15 > أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَا أَمْ أَنْتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ [52:15] أَفَسِحۡرٌ هَٰذَآ أَمۡ أَنتُمۡ لَا تُبۡصِرُونَ Is this magic, or do you not see? --- ### الآية 52:16 > اصْلَوْهَا فَاصْبِرُوا أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ [52:16] ٱصۡلَوۡهَا فَٱصۡبِرُوٓاْ أَوۡ لَا تَصۡبِرُواْ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيۡكُمۡۖ إِنَّمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ Burn in it! It is the same whether you endure ˹it˺ patiently or not.1 You are only rewarded for what you used to do.” --- ### الآية 52:17 > إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ [52:17] إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّـٰتٖ وَنَعِيمٖ Indeed, the righteous will be in Gardens and bliss, --- ### الآية 52:18 > فَاكِهِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ [52:18] فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ وَوَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ enjoying whatever their Lord will have granted them. And their Lord will have protected them from the torment of the Hellfire. --- ### الآية 52:19 > كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ [52:19] كُلُواْ وَٱشۡرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ ˹They will be told,˺ “Eat and drink happily for what you used to do.” --- ### الآية 52:20 > مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَصْفُوفَةٍ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُمْ بِحُورٍ عِينٍ [52:20] مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مَّصۡفُوفَةٖۖ وَزَوَّجۡنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٖ They will be reclining on thrones, ˹neatly˺ lined up ˹facing each other˺. And We will pair them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. --- ### الآية 52:21 > وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَا أَلَتْنَاهُمْ مِنْ عَمَلِهِمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ امْرِئٍ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ [52:21] وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَٱتَّبَعَتۡهُمۡ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَٰنٍ أَلۡحَقۡنَا بِهِمۡ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمۡ وَمَآ أَلَتۡنَٰهُم مِّنۡ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَيۡءٖۚ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِيِٕۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٞ As for those who believe and whose descendants follow them in faith, We will elevate their descendants to their rank, never discounting anything ˹of the reward˺ of their deeds. Every person will reap only what they sowed.1 --- ### الآية 52:22 > وَأَمْدَدْنَاهُمْ بِفَاكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ [52:22] وَأَمۡدَدۡنَٰهُم بِفَٰكِهَةٖ وَلَحۡمٖ مِّمَّا يَشۡتَهُونَ And We will ˹continually˺ provide them with whatever fruit or meat they desire. --- ### الآية 52:23 > يَتَنَازَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ [52:23] يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأۡسٗا لَّا لَغۡوٞ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأۡثِيمٞ They will pass around to each other a drink ˹of pure wine,˺ which leads to no idle talk or sinfulness. --- ### الآية 52:24 > ۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَكْنُونٌ [52:24] ۞وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ غِلۡمَانٞ لَّهُمۡ كَأَنَّهُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤٞ مَّكۡنُونٞ And they will be waited on by their youthful servants like spotless pearls. --- ### الآية 52:25 > وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ [52:25] وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ They will turn to one another inquisitively.1 --- ### الآية 52:26 > قَالُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِي أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ [52:26] قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبۡلُ فِيٓ أَهۡلِنَا مُشۡفِقِينَ They will say, “Before ˹this reward˺ we used to be in awe ˹of Allah˺ in the midst of our people. --- ### الآية 52:27 > فَمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَانَا عَذَابَ السَّمُومِ [52:27] فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ So Allah has graced us and protected us from the torment of ˹Hell’s˺ scorching heat. --- ### الآية 52:28 > إِنَّا كُنَّا مِنْ قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْبَرُّ الرَّحِيمُ [52:28] إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبۡلُ نَدۡعُوهُۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ Indeed, we used to call upon Him ˹alone˺ before. He is truly the Most Kind, Most Merciful.” --- ### الآية 52:29 > فَذَكِّرْ فَمَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ [52:29] فَذَكِّرۡ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعۡمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٖ وَلَا مَجۡنُونٍ So ˹continue to˺ remind ˹all, O Prophet˺. For you, by the grace of your Lord, are not a fortune-teller or a madman. --- ### الآية 52:30 > أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِهِ رَيْبَ الْمَنُونِ [52:30] أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٞ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيۡبَ ٱلۡمَنُونِ Or do they say, “˹He is˺ a poet, for whom we ˹eagerly˺ await an ill-fate!”? --- ### الآية 52:31 > قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا فَإِنِّي مَعَكُمْ مِنَ الْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ [52:31] قُلۡ تَرَبَّصُواْ فَإِنِّي مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُتَرَبِّصِينَ Say, “Keep waiting! I too am waiting with you.” --- ### الآية 52:32 > أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَامُهُمْ بِهَٰذَا ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ [52:32] أَمۡ تَأۡمُرُهُمۡ أَحۡلَٰمُهُم بِهَٰذَآۚ أَمۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمٞ طَاغُونَ Or do their ˹intelligent˺ minds prompt them to this ˹paradox˺?1 Or are they ˹just˺ a transgressing people? --- ### الآية 52:33 > أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُ ۚ بَلْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ [52:33] أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥۚ بَل لَّا يُؤۡمِنُونَ Or do they say, “He made this ˹Quran˺ up!”? In fact, they have no faith. --- ### الآية 52:34 > فَلْيَأْتُوا بِحَدِيثٍ مِثْلِهِ إِنْ كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ [52:34] فَلۡيَأۡتُواْ بِحَدِيثٖ مِّثۡلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُواْ صَٰدِقِينَ Let them then produce something like it, if what they say is true!1 --- ### الآية 52:35 > أَمْ خُلِقُوا مِنْ غَيْرِ شَيْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ الْخَالِقُونَ [52:35] أَمۡ خُلِقُواْ مِنۡ غَيۡرِ شَيۡءٍ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡخَٰلِقُونَ Or were they created by nothing, or are they ˹their own˺ creators? --- ### الآية 52:36 > أَمْ خَلَقُوا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۚ بَلْ لَا يُوقِنُونَ [52:36] أَمۡ خَلَقُواْ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ Or did they create the heavens and the earth? In fact, they have no firm belief ˹in Allah˺. --- ### الآية 52:37 > أَمْ عِنْدَهُمْ خَزَائِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ الْمُصَيْطِرُونَ [52:37] أَمۡ عِندَهُمۡ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡمُصَۜيۡطِرُونَ Or do they possess the treasuries of your Lord, or are they in control ˹of everything˺? --- ### الآية 52:38 > أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُمْ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ [52:38] أَمۡ لَهُمۡ سُلَّمٞ يَسۡتَمِعُونَ فِيهِۖ فَلۡيَأۡتِ مُسۡتَمِعُهُم بِسُلۡطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٍ Or do they have a stairway, by which they eavesdrop ˹on the heavens˺? Then let those who do so bring a compelling proof. --- ### الآية 52:39 > أَمْ لَهُ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَكُمُ الْبَنُونَ [52:39] أَمۡ لَهُ ٱلۡبَنَٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ Or does He have daughters ˹as you claim˺, while you ˹prefer to˺ have sons?1 --- ### الآية 52:40 > أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُمْ مِنْ مَغْرَمٍ مُثْقَلُونَ [52:40] أَمۡ تَسۡـَٔلُهُمۡ أَجۡرٗا فَهُم مِّن مَّغۡرَمٖ مُّثۡقَلُونَ Or are you ˹O Prophet˺ asking them for a reward ˹for the message˺ so that they are overburdened by debt? --- ### الآية 52:41 > أَمْ عِنْدَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ [52:41] أَمۡ عِندَهُمُ ٱلۡغَيۡبُ فَهُمۡ يَكۡتُبُونَ Or do they have access to ˹the Record in˺ the unseen, so they copy it ˹for all to see˺? --- ### الآية 52:42 > أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ۖ فَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا هُمُ الْمَكِيدُونَ [52:42] أَمۡ يُرِيدُونَ كَيۡدٗاۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ هُمُ ٱلۡمَكِيدُونَ Or do they intend to scheme ˹against the Prophet˺? Then it is the disbelievers who will fall victim to ˹their˺ schemes. --- ### الآية 52:43 > أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ [52:43] أَمۡ لَهُمۡ إِلَٰهٌ غَيۡرُ ٱللَّهِۚ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ Or do they have a god other than Allah? Glorified is Allah far above what they associate ˹with Him˺! --- ### الآية 52:44 > وَإِنْ يَرَوْا كِسْفًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا سَحَابٌ مَرْكُومٌ [52:44] وَإِن يَرَوۡاْ كِسۡفٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطٗا يَقُولُواْ سَحَابٞ مَّرۡكُومٞ If they were to see a ˹deadly˺ piece of the sky fall down ˹upon them˺, still they would say, “˹This is just˺ a pile of clouds.” --- ### الآية 52:45 > فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَاقُوا يَوْمَهُمُ الَّذِي فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ [52:45] فَذَرۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُواْ يَوۡمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِي فِيهِ يُصۡعَقُونَ So leave them until they face their Day in which they will be struck dead— --- ### الآية 52:46 > يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنْصَرُونَ [52:46] يَوۡمَ لَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُمۡ كَيۡدُهُمۡ شَيۡـٔٗا وَلَا هُمۡ يُنصَرُونَ the Day their scheming will be of no benefit to them whatsoever, nor will they be helped. --- ### الآية 52:47 > وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ [52:47] وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ عَذَابٗا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ Also, the wrongdoers will certainly have another torment before that ˹Day˺, but most of them do not know.1 --- ### الآية 52:48 > وَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ [52:48] وَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعۡيُنِنَاۖ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ So be patient with your Lord’s decree, for you are truly under Our ˹watchful˺ Eyes.
