Translation of Surah القمر from "ترجمة معاني القرآن الكريم - عادل صلاحي" in الإنجليزية. ### الآية 54:1 > اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ [54:1] In the Name of God, the Lord of Grace, the Ever-Merciful. The Last Hour draws near, and the moon is split asunder. ### الآية 54:2 > وَإِنْ يَرَوْا آيَةً يُعْرِضُوا وَيَقُولُوا سِحْرٌ مُسْتَمِرٌّ [54:2] Yet when the unbelievers see a sign, they turn away and say, ‘Yet another act of continuous sorcery’. ### الآية 54:3 > وَكَذَّبُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا أَهْوَاءَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلُّ أَمْرٍ مُسْتَقِرٌّ [54:3] They deny the truth and follow their own desires. Yet everything is ultimately settled. ### الآية 54:4 > وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ مِنَ الْأَنْبَاءِ مَا فِيهِ مُزْدَجَرٌ [54:4] There has come to them tidings that should have restrained \[their arrogance\], ### الآية 54:5 > حِكْمَةٌ بَالِغَةٌ ۖ فَمَا تُغْنِ النُّذُرُ [54:5] far-reaching wisdom, but warnings have been of no avail. ### الآية 54:6 > فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ ۘ يَوْمَ يَدْعُ الدَّاعِ إِلَىٰ شَيْءٍ نُكُرٍ [54:6] So turn you away from them. On the day the Summoner will summon them to something unknown, ### الآية 54:7 > خُشَّعًا أَبْصَارُهُمْ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُنْتَشِرٌ [54:7] with eyes downcast, they will come out of their graves like swarming locusts ### الآية 54:8 > مُهْطِعِينَ إِلَى الدَّاعِ ۖ يَقُولُ الْكَافِرُونَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَسِرٌ [54:8] rushing towards the Summoner. The unbelievers will say: ‘Hard indeed is this day’. ### الآية 54:9 > ۞ كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُوا عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا مَجْنُونٌ وَازْدُجِرَ [54:9] Before them, Noah’s people rejected the truth. They rejected Our servant, saying: ‘He is mad!’ and he was harshly rebuffed. ### الآية 54:10 > فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَغْلُوبٌ فَانْتَصِرْ [54:10] Therefore, he called out to his Lord: ‘I am overcome. Grant me help!’ ### الآية 54:11 > فَفَتَحْنَا أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَاءٍ مُنْهَمِرٍ [54:11] So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring down in torrents, ### الآية 54:12 > وَفَجَّرْنَا الْأَرْضَ عُيُونًا فَالْتَقَى الْمَاءُ عَلَىٰ أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِرَ [54:12] and caused the earth to burst forth with springs. Thus the waters met for a preordained purpose. ### الآية 54:13 > وَحَمَلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ ذَاتِ أَلْوَاحٍ وَدُسُرٍ [54:13] We carried him in a vessel made of planks and nails ### الآية 54:14 > تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَاءً لِمَنْ كَانَ كُفِرَ [54:14] which floated under Our eyes: a reward for him who had been rejected. ### الآية 54:15 > وَلَقَدْ تَرَكْنَاهَا آيَةً فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ [54:15] We have left this as a sign: will anyone take heed? ### الآية 54:16 > فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ [54:16] How grievous was My punishment and how true were My warnings. ### الآية 54:17 > وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ [54:17] We have made the Qur’an easy to bear in mind: will anyone take heed? ### الآية 54:18 > كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ [54:18] The people of ꜤĀd also rejected the truth. How grievous was My punishment and how true were My warnings. ### الآية 54:19 > إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا فِي يَوْمِ نَحْسٍ مُسْتَمِرٍّ [54:19] We sent against them a howling, cold wind on a day of unceasing misfortune: ### الآية 54:20 > تَنْزِعُ النَّاسَ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ مُنْقَعِرٍ [54:20] it swept people away as though they were uprooted palm trunks. ### الآية 54:21 > فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ [54:21] How grievous was My punishment and how true were My warnings. ### الآية 54:22 > وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ [54:22] We have made the Qur’an easy to bear in mind: will anyone take heed? ### الآية 54:23 > كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِالنُّذُرِ [54:23] The people of Thamūd also rejected \[My\] warnings. ### الآية 54:24 > فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرًا مِنَّا وَاحِدًا نَتَّبِعُهُ إِنَّا إِذًا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ [54:24] They said: Are we to follow one single mortal from among ourselves? In that case, we would surely be in error, lost in utter folly. ### الآية 54:25 > أَأُلْقِيَ الذِّكْرُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ بَيْنِنَا بَلْ هُوَ كَذَّابٌ أَشِرٌ [54:25] Could a message have been sent to him alone out of all of us? No, he is indeed an insolent liar. ### الآية 54:26 > سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَنِ الْكَذَّابُ الْأَشِرُ [54:26] ‘Tomorrow they will know who is the insolent liar. ### الآية 54:27 > إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَهُمْ فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ [54:27] We shall send them a she-camel as a test. So watch them and be patient. ### الآية 54:28 > وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُحْتَضَرٌ [54:28] Tell them that the water is to be equitably shared between them: each should drink in turn.’ ### الآية 54:29 > فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَىٰ فَعَقَرَ [54:29] They called their friend, who took something and slew her. ### الآية 54:30 > فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ [54:30] How grievous was My punishment and how true were My warnings. ### الآية 54:31 > إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمُحْتَظِرِ [54:31] We sent against them a single blast, and they became like the dry twigs of the sheepfold builder. ### الآية 54:32 > وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ [54:32] We have made the Qur’an easy to bear in mind: will anyone take heed? ### الآية 54:33 > كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ بِالنُّذُرِ [54:33] Lot’s people also rejected \[My\] warnings. ### الآية 54:34 > إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ ۖ نَجَّيْنَاهُمْ بِسَحَرٍ [54:34] We sent a stone-bearing wind against them, and only Lot’s family did We save at the break of dawn, ### الآية 54:35 > نِعْمَةً مِنْ عِنْدِنَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي مَنْ شَكَرَ [54:35] as an act of grace from Us: thus do We reward the thankful. ### الآية 54:36 > وَلَقَدْ أَنْذَرَهُمْ بَطْشَتَنَا فَتَمَارَوْا بِالنُّذُرِ [54:36] He warned them of Our punishment, but they were in doubt about his warnings. ### الآية 54:37 > وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدُوهُ عَنْ ضَيْفِهِ فَطَمَسْنَا أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ [54:37] They even asked him to hand his guests over to them, so We sealed their eyes. ‘Taste, then, My punishment and \[the fulfilment of\] My warnings.’ ### الآية 54:38 > وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُمْ بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُسْتَقِرٌّ [54:38] At daybreak abiding suffering befell them. ### الآية 54:39 > فَذُوقُوا عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ [54:39] ‘Taste, then, My punishment and \[the fulfilment of\] My warnings.’ ### الآية 54:40 > وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ [54:40] We have made the Qur’an easy to bear in mind: will anyone take heed? ### الآية 54:41 > وَلَقَدْ جَاءَ آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ النُّذُرُ [54:41] Pharaoh’s people also received warnings. ### الآية 54:42 > كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ أَخْذَ عَزِيزٍ مُقْتَدِرٍ [54:42] They rejected all Our signs; so We took them to task as only the Almighty, who is able to carry out His will, can take to task. ### الآية 54:43 > أَكُفَّارُكُمْ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أُولَٰئِكُمْ أَمْ لَكُمْ بَرَاءَةٌ فِي الزُّبُرِ [54:43] Are your unbelievers better than those others? Or have you been given an immunity in the Sacred Books? ### الآية 54:44 > أَمْ يَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ جَمِيعٌ مُنْتَصِرٌ [54:44] Or do they say, ‘We are a great host and we will be victorious?’ ### الآية 54:45 > سَيُهْزَمُ الْجَمْعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ الدُّبُرَ [54:45] Their hosts will be routed, and they will turn tail and flee. ### الآية 54:46 > بَلِ السَّاعَةُ مَوْعِدُهُمْ وَالسَّاعَةُ أَدْهَىٰ وَأَمَرُّ [54:46] But the Last Hour is their appointed time, and the Last Hour is most calamitous and most bitter. ### الآية 54:47 > إِنَّ الْمُجْرِمِينَ فِي ضَلَالٍ وَسُعُرٍ [54:47] The evildoers are indeed in error and in raging flames of fire. ### الآية 54:48 > يَوْمَ يُسْحَبُونَ فِي النَّارِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ ذُوقُوا مَسَّ سَقَرَ [54:48] On the Dwhen they are dragged into the Fire, their faces down, \[they will be told\], ‘Taste now the touch of hell-fire’. ### الآية 54:49 > إِنَّا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَاهُ بِقَدَرٍ [54:49] We have created everything in due measure. ### الآية 54:50 > وَمَا أَمْرُنَا إِلَّا وَاحِدَةٌ كَلَمْحٍ بِالْبَصَرِ [54:50] Our command is but once, like the twinkling of an eye. ### الآية 54:51 > وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا أَشْيَاعَكُمْ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ [54:51] We destroyed people like you in the past.
