### الآية 73:1

> يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُزَّمِّلُ [73:1]

O you the enwrapped one,

### الآية 73:2

> قُمِ اللَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا [73:2]

Stand up in prayer at night except a little,

### الآية 73:3

> نِصْفَهُ أَوِ انْقُصْ مِنْهُ قَلِيلًا [73:3]

half of it, or a little less,

### الآية 73:4

> أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلًا [73:4]

or a little more, and recite the Qur’an at a measured pace.

### الآية 73:5

> إِنَّا سَنُلْقِي عَلَيْكَ قَوْلًا ثَقِيلًا [73:5]

We will send down upon you a heavy revelation.

### الآية 73:6

> إِنَّ نَاشِئَةَ اللَّيْلِ هِيَ أَشَدُّ وَطْئًا وَأَقْوَمُ قِيلًا [73:6]

Indeed, prayer at night is more effective and more conducive to proper recitation.

### الآية 73:7

> إِنَّ لَكَ فِي النَّهَارِ سَبْحًا طَوِيلًا [73:7]

In daytime, you have plenty of time for your worldly matters.

### الآية 73:8

> وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ وَتَبَتَّلْ إِلَيْهِ تَبْتِيلًا [73:8]

And remember the Name of your Lord, and devote yourself completely to Him.

### الآية 73:9

> رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ فَاتَّخِذْهُ وَكِيلًا [73:9]

\[He is\] Lord of the east and the west; none has the right to be worshiped except Him, so take Him as Disposer of your affairs.

### الآية 73:10

> وَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَاهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًا جَمِيلًا [73:10]

Bear patiently what they say, and avoid them in a gracious manner.

### الآية 73:11

> وَذَرْنِي وَالْمُكَذِّبِينَ أُولِي النَّعْمَةِ وَمَهِّلْهُمْ قَلِيلًا [73:11]

Leave to Me the deniers who are having a life of luxury, and bear with them for a little while.

### الآية 73:12

> إِنَّ لَدَيْنَا أَنْكَالًا وَجَحِيمًا [73:12]

Indeed, We have heavy shackles and a Blazing Fire,

### الآية 73:13

> وَطَعَامًا ذَا غُصَّةٍ وَعَذَابًا أَلِيمًا [73:13]

and food that chokes, and a painful punishment,

### الآية 73:14

> يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الْأَرْضُ وَالْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ الْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًا مَهِيلًا [73:14]

on the Day when the earth and the mountains will convulse, and the mountains will be like dunes of loose sand.

### الآية 73:15

> إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ رَسُولًا شَاهِدًا عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ رَسُولًا [73:15]

Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger to be a witness over you, just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger.

### الآية 73:16

> فَعَصَىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ الرَّسُولَ فَأَخَذْنَاهُ أَخْذًا وَبِيلًا [73:16]

But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a severe punishment.

### الآية 73:17

> فَكَيْفَ تَتَّقُونَ إِنْ كَفَرْتُمْ يَوْمًا يَجْعَلُ الْوِلْدَانَ شِيبًا [73:17]

If you disbelieve, then how will you protect yourselves against a Day that will turn children’s hair gray?

### الآية 73:18

> السَّمَاءُ مُنْفَطِرٌ بِهِ ۚ كَانَ وَعْدُهُ مَفْعُولًا [73:18]

It will cause the sky to break asunder. His promise will certainly be fulfilled.

### الآية 73:19

> إِنَّ هَٰذِهِ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَنْ شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ سَبِيلًا [73:19]

Indeed, this is a reminder; so whoever wills may take a way to his Lord.

### الآية 73:20

> ۞ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ تَقُومُ أَدْنَىٰ مِنْ ثُلُثَيِ اللَّيْلِ وَنِصْفَهُ وَثُلُثَهُ وَطَائِفَةٌ مِنَ الَّذِينَ مَعَكَ ۚ وَاللَّهُ يُقَدِّرُ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ ۚ عَلِمَ أَنْ لَنْ تُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ فَاقْرَءُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ ۚ عَلِمَ أَنْ سَيَكُونُ مِنْكُمْ مَرْضَىٰ ۙ وَآخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِنْ فَضْلِ اللَّهِ ۙ وَآخَرُونَ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۖ فَاقْرَءُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنْهُ ۚ وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَأَقْرِضُوا اللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا ۚ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُوا لِأَنْفُسِكُمْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ تَجِدُوهُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ هُوَ خَيْرًا وَأَعْظَمَ أَجْرًا ۚ وَاسْتَغْفِرُوا اللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ [73:20]

Indeed, your Lord knows that you \[O Prophet\] stand up in prayer for nearly two-thirds of the night, or half of it, or one-third of it, as do others among your companions. Allah determines the night and the day; He knows that you \[Muslims\] cannot keep an accurate count of it, so He pardoned you. Recite then as much of the Qur’an as is easy for you \[in the night prayers\]. He knows that there are some among you who will be ill, and others traveling in the land, seeking the grace of Allah, and others fighting in Allah’s way. So recite as much of it as is easy for you; establish prayer and give zakah; and lend to Allah a goodly loan. Whatever good you send forth for yourselves, you will find it with Allah, much better in condition and much greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah, for indeed Allah is All-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.
