### الآية 76:1

> هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى الْإِنْسَانِ حِينٌ مِنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْئًا مَذْكُورًا [76:1]

Was there not a period of time when man was not yet something to be thought of?

### الآية 76:2

> إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا [76:2]

We have created man from a drop of mingled fluid, so that We might try him. Therefore, we have endowed him with hearing and sight.

### الآية 76:3

> إِنَّا هَدَيْنَاهُ السَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا [76:3]

We have shown him the way, \[giving him the choice\] to be thankful or ungrateful.

### الآية 76:4

> إِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ سَلَاسِلَ وَأَغْلَالًا وَسَعِيرًا [76:4]

For the unbelievers, we have prepared chains and shackles, and a blazing fire.

### الآية 76:5

> إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِنْ كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا [76:5]

The righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with kafur,

### الآية 76:6

> عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا [76:6]

a fountain where God’s servants shall drink, making it flow in abundance.

### الآية 76:7

> يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيرًا [76:7]

They are the ones who fulfil their vows and stand in awe of a day of woes that fly far and wide,

### الآية 76:8

> وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا [76:8]

Who give food – though they need it themselves – to the needy, the orphan and the captive,

### الآية 76:9

> إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنْكُمْ جَزَاءً وَلَا شُكُورًا [76:9]

\[saying within themselves,\] ‘We feed you for the sake of God alone. We desire neither recompense from you, nor thanks.

### الآية 76:10

> إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِنْ رَبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا [76:10]

We fear the Day of our Lord: a bleak, distressful day.’

### الآية 76:11

> فَوَقَاهُمُ اللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّاهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا [76:11]

God will save them from the woes of that day, and will grant them radiance and joy,

### الآية 76:12

> وَجَزَاهُمْ بِمَا صَبَرُوا جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا [76:12]

and will reward them for their patience in adversity with a garden and \[garments of\] silk.

### الآية 76:13

> مُتَّكِئِينَ فِيهَا عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ ۖ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا [76:13]

They will recline there on soft couches, feeling neither burning sun nor severe cold.

### الآية 76:14

> وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَالُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا [76:14]

Its shades will come low over them, and its clusters of fruit will hang low, within easy reach.

### الآية 76:15

> وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِآنِيَةٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا [76:15]

They will be served with silver plates and goblets that seem to be crystal,

### الآية 76:16

> قَوَارِيرَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا [76:16]

crystal-clear, but made of silver, the measure of which they are the ones to determine.

### الآية 76:17

> وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنْجَبِيلًا [76:17]

They will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger,

### الآية 76:18

> عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلًا [76:18]

from a spring there called Salsabil.

### الآية 76:19

> ۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَنْثُورًا [76:19]

They will be waited upon by immortal youths. If you see them, you would think they were scattered pearls.

### الآية 76:20

> وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا [76:20]

If you were to look around, you would see only bliss and a vast kingdom.

### الآية 76:21

> عَالِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُنْدُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ ۖ وَحُلُّوا أَسَاوِرَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا [76:21]

They shall be arrayed in garments of fine green silk and brocade; and adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Lord will give them a most pure drink.

### الآية 76:22

> إِنَّ هَٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَاءً وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُمْ مَشْكُورًا [76:22]

This is a reward for you. Your endeavours are well appreciated.

### الآية 76:23

> إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ تَنْزِيلًا [76:23]

It is We who have bestowed the Qur’an upon you by gradual revelation.

### الآية 76:24

> فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ آثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا [76:24]

Await, then, your Lord’s judgement in all patience, and pay no heed to any of these sinners and unbelievers.

### الآية 76:25

> وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا [76:25]

Remember your Lord’s name morning and evening.

### الآية 76:26

> وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَاسْجُدْ لَهُ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا [76:26]

At night prostrate yourself before Him, and extol His limitless glory throughout the long night.

### الآية 76:27

> إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ يُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَاءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيلًا [76:27]

These people love the fleeting life, and leave behind them a day that will be heavy.

### الآية 76:28

> نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَا أَسْرَهُمْ ۖ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَا أَمْثَالَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا [76:28]

It is We who have created them and strengthened their constitution. If it be Our will, We can replace them entirely with others of their kind.

### الآية 76:29

> إِنَّ هَٰذِهِ تَذْكِرَةٌ ۖ فَمَنْ شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ سَبِيلًا [76:29]

This is but a reminder. Let him who will, take the way to his Lord.

### الآية 76:30

> وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا [76:30]

Yet you cannot will except by the will of God. God is indeed all-knowing, wise.

### الآية 76:31

> يُدْخِلُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ ۚ وَالظَّالِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا [76:31]

He admits to His grace whoever He will, but for the wrongdoers He has prepared painful suffering.
