### الآية 77:1

> وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا [77:1]

(1) By those \[winds\] sent forth in gusts

### الآية 77:2

> فَالْعَاصِفَاتِ عَصْفًا [77:2]

(2) And the winds that blow violently

### الآية 77:3

> وَالنَّاشِرَاتِ نَشْرًا [77:3]

(3) And \[by\] the winds that spread \[clouds\]

### الآية 77:4

> فَالْفَارِقَاتِ فَرْقًا [77:4]

(4) And those \[angels\] who bring criterion\[1816\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1816\]- To Allāh's human messengers.

### الآية 77:5

> فَالْمُلْقِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا [77:5]

(5) And those \[angels\] who deliver a message.

### الآية 77:6

> عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا [77:6]

(6) As justification or warning,

### الآية 77:7

> إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَاقِعٌ [77:7]

(7) Indeed, what you are promised is to occur.

### الآية 77:8

> فَإِذَا النُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ [77:8]

(8) So when the stars are obliterated

### الآية 77:9

> وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ فُرِجَتْ [77:9]

(9) And when the heaven is opened

### الآية 77:10

> وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ [77:10]

(10) And when the mountains are blown away

### الآية 77:11

> وَإِذَا الرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ [77:11]

(11) And when the messengers' time has come...\[1817\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1817\]- i.e., when they are gathered to witness concerning their nations. The sentence's conclusion is understood to be "...the promised judgement will then take place."

### الآية 77:12

> لِأَيِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ [77:12]

(12) For what Day was it postponed?\[1818\]
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1818\]- "It" may refer to either the aforementioned occurrences collectively or to the testimony of the messengers.

### الآية 77:13

> لِيَوْمِ الْفَصْلِ [77:13]

(13) For the Day of Judgement.

### الآية 77:14

> وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ [77:14]

(14) And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement?

### الآية 77:15

> وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [77:15]

(15) Woe,\[1819\] that Day, to the deniers.
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1819\]- i.e., death and destruction.

### الآية 77:16

> أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ الْأَوَّلِينَ [77:16]

(16) Did We not destroy the former peoples?

### الآية 77:17

> ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ الْآخِرِينَ [77:17]

(17) Then We will follow them with the later ones.

### الآية 77:18

> كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ [77:18]

(18) Thus do We deal with the criminals.

### الآية 77:19

> وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [77:19]

(19) Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

### الآية 77:20

> أَلَمْ نَخْلُقْكُمْ مِنْ مَاءٍ مَهِينٍ [77:20]

(20) Did We not create you from a liquid disdained?

### الآية 77:21

> فَجَعَلْنَاهُ فِي قَرَارٍ مَكِينٍ [77:21]

(21) And We placed it in a firm lodging \[i.e., the womb\]

### الآية 77:22

> إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَعْلُومٍ [77:22]

(22) For a known extent.

### الآية 77:23

> فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ الْقَادِرُونَ [77:23]

(23) And We determined \[it\], and excellent \[are We\] to determine.

### الآية 77:24

> وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [77:24]

(24) Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

### الآية 77:25

> أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا [77:25]

(25) Have We not made the earth a container

### الآية 77:26

> أَحْيَاءً وَأَمْوَاتًا [77:26]

(26) Of the living and the dead?

### الآية 77:27

> وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ شَامِخَاتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَاكُمْ مَاءً فُرَاتًا [77:27]

(27) And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water.

### الآية 77:28

> وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [77:28]

(28) Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

### الآية 77:29

> انْطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ مَا كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ [77:29]

(29) \[They will be told\], "Proceed to that which you used to deny.

### الآية 77:30

> انْطَلِقُوا إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِي ثَلَاثِ شُعَبٍ [77:30]

(30) Proceed to a shadow \[of smoke\] having three columns.

### الآية 77:31

> لَا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ [77:31]

(31) \[But having\] no cool shade and availing not against the flame."

### الآية 77:32

> إِنَّهَا تَرْمِي بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِ [77:32]

(32) Indeed, it throws sparks \[as huge\] as a fortress,

### الآية 77:33

> كَأَنَّهُ جِمَالَتٌ صُفْرٌ [77:33]

(33) As if they were yellowish \[black\] camels.

### الآية 77:34

> وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [77:34]

(34) Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

### الآية 77:35

> هَٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنْطِقُونَ [77:35]

(35) This is a Day they will not speak,

### الآية 77:36

> وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ [77:36]

(36) Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse.

### الآية 77:37

> وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [77:37]

(37) Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

### الآية 77:38

> هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَاكُمْ وَالْأَوَّلِينَ [77:38]

(38) This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples.

### الآية 77:39

> فَإِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ [77:39]

(39) So if you have a plan, then plan against Me.

### الآية 77:40

> وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [77:40]

(40) Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

### الآية 77:41

> إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَالٍ وَعُيُونٍ [77:41]

(41) Indeed, the righteous will be among shades and springs

### الآية 77:42

> وَفَوَاكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ [77:42]

(42) And fruits from whatever they desire,

### الآية 77:43

> كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ [77:43]

(43) \[Being told\], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."

### الآية 77:44

> إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ [77:44]

(44) Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

### الآية 77:45

> وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [77:45]

(45) Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

### الآية 77:46

> كُلُوا وَتَمَتَّعُوا قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُمْ مُجْرِمُونَ [77:46]

(46) \[O disbelievers\], eat and enjoy yourselves a little; indeed, you are criminals.

### الآية 77:47

> وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [77:47]

(47) Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

### الآية 77:48

> وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوا لَا يَرْكَعُونَ [77:48]

(48) And when it is said to them, "Bow \[in prayer\]," they do not bow.

### الآية 77:49

> وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [77:49]

(49) Woe, that Day, to the deniers.

### الآية 77:50

> فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ [77:50]

(50) Then in what statement after it \[i.e., the Qur’ān\] will they believe?
