### الآية 78:1

> عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ [78:1]

An-Naba' 
---------

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ


What are they asking (one another)?

---

### الآية 78:2

> عَنِ النَّبَإِ الْعَظِيمِ [78:2]

عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ


About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.),

### الآية 78:3

> الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ [78:3]

ٱلَّذِي هُمۡ فِيهِ مُخۡتَلِفُونَ


About which they are in disagreement.

### الآية 78:4

> كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ [78:4]

كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ


Nay, they will come to know!

### الآية 78:5

> ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ [78:5]

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ


Nay, again, they will come to know!

---

### الآية 78:6

> أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ مِهَادًا [78:6]

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِهَٰدٗا


Have We not made the earth as a bed,

---

### الآية 78:7

> وَالْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا [78:7]

وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَوۡتَادٗا


And the mountains as pegs?

---

### الآية 78:8

> وَخَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا [78:8]

وَخَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا


And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.).

### الآية 78:9

> وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا [78:9]

وَجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتٗا


And have made your sleep as a thing for rest.

---

### الآية 78:10

> وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا [78:10]

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلَّيۡلَ لِبَاسٗا


And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness),

---

### الآية 78:11

> وَجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا [78:11]

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشٗا


And have made the day for livelihood.

---

### الآية 78:12

> وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا [78:12]

وَبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعٗا شِدَادٗا


And We have built above you seven strong (heavens),

---

### الآية 78:13

> وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا [78:13]

وَجَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجٗا وَهَّاجٗا


And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun).

---

### الآية 78:14

> وَأَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُعْصِرَاتِ مَاءً ثَجَّاجًا [78:14]

وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمُعۡصِرَٰتِ مَآءٗ ثَجَّاجٗا


And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water.

### الآية 78:15

> لِنُخْرِجَ بِهِ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا [78:15]

لِّنُخۡرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبّٗا وَنَبَاتٗا


That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations,

---

### الآية 78:16

> وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلْفَافًا [78:16]

وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلۡفَافًا


And gardens of thick growth.

---

### الآية 78:17

> إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتًا [78:17]

إِنَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتٗا


Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time,

---

### الآية 78:18

> يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا [78:18]

يَوۡمَ يُنفَخُ فِي ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأۡتُونَ أَفۡوَاجٗا


The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups);

### الآية 78:19

> وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَابًا [78:19]

وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ أَبۡوَٰبٗا


And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates,

---

### الآية 78:20

> وَسُيِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا [78:20]

وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ فَكَانَتۡ سَرَابًا


And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage.

### الآية 78:21

> إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا [78:21]

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتۡ مِرۡصَادٗا


Truly, Hell is a place of ambush,

---

### الآية 78:22

> لِلطَّاغِينَ مَآبًا [78:22]

لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابٗا


A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.),

---

### الآية 78:23

> لَابِثِينَ فِيهَا أَحْقَابًا [78:23]

لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحۡقَابٗا


They will abide therein for ages,

---

### الآية 78:24

> لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا [78:24]

لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرۡدٗا وَلَا شَرَابًا


Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink.

### الآية 78:25

> إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا [78:25]

إِلَّا حَمِيمٗا وَغَسَّاقٗا


Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges.

---

### الآية 78:26

> جَزَاءً وِفَاقًا [78:26]

جَزَآءٗ وِفَاقًا


An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes).

---

### الآية 78:27

> إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا [78:27]

إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَرۡجُونَ حِسَابٗا


For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning.

---

### الآية 78:28

> وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كِذَّابًا [78:28]

وَكَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابٗا


But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely.

### الآية 78:29

> وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ كِتَابًا [78:29]

وَكُلَّ شَيۡءٍ أَحۡصَيۡنَٰهُ كِتَٰبٗا


And all things We have recorded in a Book.

### الآية 78:30

> فَذُوقُوا فَلَنْ نَزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا [78:30]

فَذُوقُواْ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمۡ إِلَّا عَذَابًا


So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment.

### الآية 78:31

> إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا [78:31]

إِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا


Verily, for the Muttaqun, there will be a success (Paradise);

---

### الآية 78:32

> حَدَائِقَ وَأَعْنَابًا [78:32]

حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعۡنَٰبٗا


Gardens and grapeyards;

---

### الآية 78:33

> وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا [78:33]

وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتۡرَابٗا


And young full-breasted (mature) maidens of equal age;

---

### الآية 78:34

> وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا [78:34]

وَكَأۡسٗا دِهَاقٗا


And a full cup (of wine).

---

### الآية 78:35

> لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّابًا [78:35]

لَّا يَسۡمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغۡوٗا وَلَا كِذَّـٰبٗا


No Laghw (dirty, false, evil talk) shall they hear therein, nor lying;

### الآية 78:36

> جَزَاءً مِنْ رَبِّكَ عَطَاءً حِسَابًا [78:36]

جَزَآءٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابٗا


A reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gift (according to the best of their good deeds).

### الآية 78:37

> رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الرَّحْمَٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا [78:37]

رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِۖ لَا يَمۡلِكُونَ مِنۡهُ خِطَابٗا


(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatsoever is in between them, the Most Beneficent, none can dare to speak with Him (on the Day of Resurrection except after His Leave).

### الآية 78:38

> يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا [78:38]

يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفّٗاۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابٗا


The Day that Ar-Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, none shall speak except him whom the Most Beneficent (Allah) allows, and he will speak what is right.

### الآية 78:39

> ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَنْ شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ مَآبًا [78:39]

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا


That is without doubt the True Day, so, whosoever wills, let him seek a place with (or a way to) His Lord (by obeying Him in this worldly life)!

### الآية 78:40

> إِنَّا أَنْذَرْنَاكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنْظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ الْكَافِرُ يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنْتُ تُرَابًا [78:40]

إِنَّآ أَنذَرۡنَٰكُمۡ عَذَابٗا قَرِيبٗا يَوۡمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلۡكَافِرُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَٰبَۢا


Verily, We have warned you of a near torment, the Day when man will see that (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: "Woe to me! Would that I were dust!"
