### الآية 81:1

> إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ [81:1]

At-Takwir 
----------

---

إِذَا ٱلشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡ


When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown).

---

### الآية 81:2

> وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انْكَدَرَتْ [81:2]

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتۡ


And when the stars shall fall;

---

### الآية 81:3

> وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ [81:3]

وَإِذَا ٱلۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡ


And when the mountains shall made to pass away;

---

### الآية 81:4

> وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ [81:4]

وَإِذَا ٱلۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ


And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected;

---

### الآية 81:5

> وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ [81:5]

وَإِذَا ٱلۡوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتۡ


And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together;

---

### الآية 81:6

> وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ [81:6]

وَإِذَا ٱلۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡ


And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow;

---

### الآية 81:7

> وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ [81:7]

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتۡ


And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies;

---

### الآية 81:8

> وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ [81:8]

وَإِذَا ٱلۡمَوۡءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتۡ


And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned.

### الآية 81:9

> بِأَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْ [81:9]

بِأَيِّ ذَنۢبٖ قُتِلَتۡ


For what sin she was killed?

---

### الآية 81:10

> وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ [81:10]

وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡ


And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open;

### الآية 81:11

> وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ [81:11]

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتۡ


And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place;

### الآية 81:12

> وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ [81:12]

وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتۡ


And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze.

### الآية 81:13

> وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ [81:13]

وَإِذَا ٱلۡجَنَّةُ أُزۡلِفَتۡ


And when Paradise shall be brought near,

---

### الآية 81:14

> عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَا أَحْضَرَتْ [81:14]

عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٞ مَّآ أَحۡضَرَتۡ


(Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil).

### الآية 81:15

> فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ [81:15]

فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلۡخُنَّسِ


So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night).

### الآية 81:16

> الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ [81:16]

ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡكُنَّسِ


And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves,

---

### الآية 81:17

> وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ [81:17]

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا عَسۡعَسَ


And by the night as it departs;

---

### الآية 81:18

> وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ [81:18]

وَٱلصُّبۡحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ


And by the dawn as it brightens;

---

### الآية 81:19

> إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ [81:19]

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوۡلُ رَسُولٖ كَرِيمٖ


Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)].

### الآية 81:20

> ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ [81:20]

ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِي ٱلۡعَرۡشِ مَكِينٖ


Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne,

### الآية 81:21

> مُطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ [81:21]

مُّطَاعٖ ثَمَّ أَمِينٖ


Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens).

---

### الآية 81:22

> وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُونٍ [81:22]

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجۡنُونٖ


And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman;

---

### الآية 81:23

> وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ [81:23]

وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ


And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east).

### الآية 81:24

> وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ [81:24]

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِينٖ


And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen.

### الآية 81:25

> وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَانٍ رَجِيمٍ [81:25]

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٖ


And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan).

### الآية 81:26

> فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ [81:26]

فَأَيۡنَ تَذۡهَبُونَ


Then where are you going?

---

### الآية 81:27

> إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ [81:27]

إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكۡرٞ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ


Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns).

### الآية 81:28

> لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَسْتَقِيمَ [81:28]

لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمۡ أَن يَسۡتَقِيمَ


To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight,

---

### الآية 81:29

> وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ [81:29]

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ


And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).
