### الآية 81:1

> إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ [81:1]

1\. When the mass of the sun is gathered and its light vanishes.

### الآية 81:2

> وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انْكَدَرَتْ [81:2]

2\. When the stars fall one after the other and their light is taken away.

### الآية 81:3

> وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ [81:3]

3\. When the mountains are moved from their places.

### الآية 81:4

> وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ [81:4]

4\. When pregnant she-camels, which were their most valuable wealth, are neglected by being abandoned by their owners.

### الآية 81:5

> وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ [81:5]

5\. When wild animals are gathered with human beings on one plain.

### الآية 81:6

> وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ [81:6]

6\. When the seas are lit until they become a fire.

### الآية 81:7

> وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ [81:7]

7\. When souls are joined with their likeness. A sinner will be joined with a sinner and a pious person will be joined with a pious person.

### الآية 81:8

> وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ [81:8]

8\. When the girl buried alive is asked by Allah.

### الآية 81:9

> بِأَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْ [81:9]

9\. For what crime were you killed by the person who killed you?

### الآية 81:10

> وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ [81:10]

10\. When the servants’ books of deeds are spread open, so that each person can read his book of deeds.

### الآية 81:11

> وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ [81:11]

11\. When the sky is stripped like how the skin is stripped away from a sheep.

### الآية 81:12

> وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ [81:12]

12\. When the Fire is lit.

### الآية 81:13

> وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ [81:13]

13\. When Paradise is brought near to those who are Mindful.

### الآية 81:14

> عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَا أَحْضَرَتْ [81:14]

14\. When that occurs, every soul will know what actions it sent forward for that day.

### الآية 81:15

> فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ [81:15]

15\. Allah took an oath by the stars that are hidden until they emerge at night.

### الآية 81:16

> الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ [81:16]

16\. That run in their orbits and disappear when dawn rises, like a gazelle that goes into its den i.e. its home.

### الآية 81:17

> وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ [81:17]

17\. He took an oath by the first part of the night when it approaches, and the last part when it recedes.

### الآية 81:18

> وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ [81:18]

18\. He took an oath by the morning when its light emerges.

### الآية 81:19

> إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ [81:19]

19\. The Qur’ān that is revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him) is Allah’s speech that was conveyed by a trusted angel, Gabriel (peace be upon him), whom Allah entrusted it to.

### الآية 81:20

> ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ [81:20]

20\. One who possess strength and great rank in the sight of the Lord of the Throne, may He be glorified.

### الآية 81:21

> مُطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ [81:21]

21\. He is obeyed by the inhabitants of the heavens and trusted in the revelation that he conveys.

### الآية 81:22

> وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُونٍ [81:22]

22\. Muhammad (peace be upon him), who is in your company and whose intellect, trustworthiness and truthfulness you know, is not insane as you slanderously claim.

### الآية 81:23

> وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ [81:23]

23\. Your companion had seen Gabriel in the form that he was created in the clear horizon of the sky.

### الآية 81:24

> وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ [81:24]

24\. Your companion is not miserly with you by not conveying what he was instructed to convey to you, nor does he take any reward like how fortune-tellers take.

### الآية 81:25

> وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَانٍ رَجِيمٍ [81:25]

25\. This Qur’ān is not the speech of a satan distanced from Allah’s mercy.

### الآية 81:26

> فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ [81:26]

26\. So which path will you tread to deny that it is from Allah after all these evidence?!

### الآية 81:27

> إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ [81:27]

27\. The Qur’ān is only a reminder and counsel to the jinn and mankind.

### الآية 81:28

> لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَسْتَقِيمَ [81:28]

28\. For those of you who wish to be steadfast on the path of truth.

### الآية 81:29

> وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ [81:29]

29\. You can only will to remain steadfast or do anything else if Allah, the Lord of all created things, wills that.
