### الآية 83:1

> وَيْلٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَ [83:1]

Al-Mutaffifin 
--------------

---

وَيۡلٞ لِّلۡمُطَفِّفِينَ


Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)],

---

### الآية 83:2

> الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ [83:2]

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكۡتَالُواْ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسۡتَوۡفُونَ


Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure,

### الآية 83:3

> وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَوْ وَزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ [83:3]

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمۡ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمۡ يُخۡسِرُونَ


And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.

### الآية 83:4

> أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُولَٰئِكَ أَنَّهُمْ مَبْعُوثُونَ [83:4]

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبۡعُوثُونَ


Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning),

### الآية 83:5

> لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ [83:5]

لِيَوۡمٍ عَظِيمٖ


On a Great Day,

---

### الآية 83:6

> يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ [83:6]

يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ


The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?

### الآية 83:7

> كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٍ [83:7]

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٖ


Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin.

### الآية 83:8

> وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ [83:8]

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٞ


And what will make you know what Sijjin is?

### الآية 83:9

> كِتَابٌ مَرْقُومٌ [83:9]

كِتَٰبٞ مَّرۡقُومٞ


A Register inscribed.

---

### الآية 83:10

> وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ [83:10]

وَيۡلٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِينَ


Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)].

### الآية 83:11

> الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ [83:11]

ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوۡمِ ٱلدِّينِ


Those who deny the Day of Recompense.

### الآية 83:12

> وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ [83:12]

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ


And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!)

### الآية 83:13

> إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ [83:13]

إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ


When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!"

### الآية 83:14

> كَلَّا ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ [83:14]

كَلَّاۖ بَلۡۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكۡسِبُونَ


Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn.

### الآية 83:15

> كَلَّا إِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَمَحْجُوبُونَ [83:15]

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمۡ عَن رَّبِّهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّمَحۡجُوبُونَ


Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day.

### الآية 83:16

> ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُو الْجَحِيمِ [83:16]

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمۡ لَصَالُواْ ٱلۡجَحِيمِ


Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell.

### الآية 83:17

> ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ [83:17]

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ


Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!"

### الآية 83:18

> كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ [83:18]

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ


Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun.

### الآية 83:19

> وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ [83:19]

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ


And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is?

### الآية 83:20

> كِتَابٌ مَرْقُومٌ [83:20]

كِتَٰبٞ مَّرۡقُومٞ


A Register inscribed.

---

### الآية 83:21

> يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ [83:21]

يَشۡهَدُهُ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ


To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels).

---

### الآية 83:22

> إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ [83:22]

إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ


Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise).

### الآية 83:23

> عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنْظُرُونَ [83:23]

عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ


On thrones, looking (at all things).

### الآية 83:24

> تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ [83:24]

تَعۡرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمۡ نَضۡرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ


You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight.

### الآية 83:25

> يُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ رَحِيقٍ مَخْتُومٍ [83:25]

يُسۡقَوۡنَ مِن رَّحِيقٖ مَّخۡتُومٍ


They will be given to drink pure sealed wine.

### الآية 83:26

> خِتَامُهُ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَ [83:26]

خِتَٰمُهُۥ مِسۡكٞۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكَ فَلۡيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلۡمُتَنَٰفِسُونَ


The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah).

### الآية 83:27

> وَمِزَاجُهُ مِنْ تَسْنِيمٍ [83:27]

وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسۡنِيمٍ


It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim.

### الآية 83:28

> عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَ [83:28]

عَيۡنٗا يَشۡرَبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ


A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah.

### الآية 83:29

> إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَضْحَكُونَ [83:29]

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجۡرَمُواْ كَانُواْ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يَضۡحَكُونَ


Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

### الآية 83:30

> وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ [83:30]

وَإِذَا مَرُّواْ بِهِمۡ يَتَغَامَزُونَ


And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery);

### الآية 83:31

> وَإِذَا انْقَلَبُوا إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمُ انْقَلَبُوا فَكِهِينَ [83:31]

وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُواْ فَكِهِينَ


And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting;

### الآية 83:32

> وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَضَالُّونَ [83:32]

وَإِذَا رَأَوۡهُمۡ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ


And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!"

### الآية 83:33

> وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِينَ [83:33]

وَمَآ أُرۡسِلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ حَٰفِظِينَ


But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers).

### الآية 83:34

> فَالْيَوْمَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ [83:34]

فَٱلۡيَوۡمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡكُفَّارِ يَضۡحَكُونَ


But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers

### الآية 83:35

> عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنْظُرُونَ [83:35]

عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ


On (high) thrones, looking (at all things).

---

### الآية 83:36

> هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ [83:36]

هَلۡ ثُوِّبَ ٱلۡكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُواْ يَفۡعَلُونَ


Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do?
