### الآية 85:1

> وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ [85:1]

Al-Buruj 
---------

---

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡبُرُوجِ


By the heaven, holding the big stars.

---

### الآية 85:2

> وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ [85:2]

وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡمَوۡعُودِ


And by the Promised Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection);

---

### الآية 85:3

> وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ [85:3]

وَشَاهِدٖ وَمَشۡهُودٖ


And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah];

### الآية 85:4

> قُتِلَ أَصْحَابُ الْأُخْدُودِ [85:4]

قُتِلَ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلۡأُخۡدُودِ


Cursed were the people of the ditch (the story of the Boy and the King).

### الآية 85:5

> النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِ [85:5]

ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلۡوَقُودِ


Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel,

---

### الآية 85:6

> إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ [85:6]

إِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُودٞ


When they sat by it (fire),

---

### الآية 85:7

> وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ [85:7]

وَهُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفۡعَلُونَ بِٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ شُهُودٞ


And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them).

### الآية 85:8

> وَمَا نَقَمُوا مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ [85:8]

وَمَا نَقَمُواْ مِنۡهُمۡ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤۡمِنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَمِيدِ


They had nothing against them, except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise!

### الآية 85:9

> الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ [85:9]

ٱلَّذِي لَهُۥ مُلۡكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ شَهِيدٌ


Who, to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allah is Witness over everything.

### الآية 85:10

> إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيقِ [85:10]

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُواْ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمۡ يَتُوبُواْ فَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابُ ٱلۡحَرِيقِ


Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance, (to Allah), will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire.

### الآية 85:11

> إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيرُ [85:11]

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ جَنَّـٰتٞ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡكَبِيرُ


Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). That is the great success.

### الآية 85:12

> إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ [85:12]

إِنَّ بَطۡشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ


Verily, (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) the Grip (Punishment) of your Lord is severe.

### الآية 85:13

> إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ [85:13]

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبۡدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ


Verily, He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment in the Hereafter) (or originates the creation of everything, and then repeats it on the Day of Resurrection).

### الآية 85:14

> وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ [85:14]

وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلۡوَدُودُ


And He is Oft-Forgiving, full of love (towards the pious who are real true believers of Islamic Monotheism),

---

### الآية 85:15

> ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدُ [85:15]

ذُو ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡمَجِيدُ


Owner of the throne, the Glorious

---

### الآية 85:16

> فَعَّالٌ لِمَا يُرِيدُ [85:16]

فَعَّالٞ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ


He does what He intends (or wills).

---

### الآية 85:17

> هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْجُنُودِ [85:17]

هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡجُنُودِ


Has the story reached you of the hosts,

---

### الآية 85:18

> فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ [85:18]

فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَثَمُودَ


Of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and Thamud?

---

### الآية 85:19

> بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي تَكْذِيبٍ [85:19]

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فِي تَكۡذِيبٖ


Nay! The disbelievers (persisted) in denying (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and his Message of Islamic Monotheism).

### الآية 85:20

> وَاللَّهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ مُحِيطٌ [85:20]

وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطُۢ


And Allah encompasses them from behind! (i.e. all their deeds are within His Knowledge, and He will requite them for their deeds).

### الآية 85:21

> بَلْ هُوَ قُرْآنٌ مَجِيدٌ [85:21]

بَلۡ هُوَ قُرۡءَانٞ مَّجِيدٞ


Nay! This is a Glorious Quran,

---

### الآية 85:22

> فِي لَوْحٍ مَحْفُوظٍ [85:22]

فِي لَوۡحٖ مَّحۡفُوظِۭ


(Inscribed) in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet)!
