### الآية 86:1

> وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ [86:1]

(1) By the sky and the night comer

### الآية 86:2

> وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ [86:2]

(2) And what can make you know what is the night comer?

### الآية 86:3

> النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ [86:3]

(3) It is the piercing star\[1901\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1901\]- Whose light pierces through the darkness.

### الآية 86:4

> إِنْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَمَّا عَلَيْهَا حَافِظٌ [86:4]

(4) There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.

### الآية 86:5

> فَلْيَنْظُرِ الْإِنْسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ [86:5]

(5) So let man observe from what he was created.

### الآية 86:6

> خُلِقَ مِنْ مَاءٍ دَافِقٍ [86:6]

(6) He was created from a fluid, ejected,

### الآية 86:7

> يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ [86:7]

(7) Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.

### الآية 86:8

> إِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَجْعِهِ لَقَادِرٌ [86:8]

(8) Indeed, He \[i.e., Allāh\], to return him \[to life\], is Able.

### الآية 86:9

> يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَائِرُ [86:9]

(9) The Day when secrets will be put on trial,\[1902\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1902\]- i.e., exposed, examined and judged.

### الآية 86:10

> فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ وَلَا نَاصِرٍ [86:10]

(10) Then he \[i.e., man\] will have no power or any helper.

### الآية 86:11

> وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الرَّجْعِ [86:11]

(11) By the sky which sends back\[1903\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1903\]- Rain, heat, sound waves, etc.

### الآية 86:12

> وَالْأَرْضِ ذَاتِ الصَّدْعِ [86:12]

(12) And \[by\] the earth which splits,\[1904\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1904\]- With plant growth or from geological rifts.

### الآية 86:13

> إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلٌ فَصْلٌ [86:13]

(13) Indeed, it \[i.e., the Qur’ān\] is a decisive statement,

### الآية 86:14

> وَمَا هُوَ بِالْهَزْلِ [86:14]

(14) And it is not amusement.

### الآية 86:15

> إِنَّهُمْ يَكِيدُونَ كَيْدًا [86:15]

(15) Indeed, they are planning a plan,

### الآية 86:16

> وَأَكِيدُ كَيْدًا [86:16]

(16) But I am planning a plan.

### الآية 86:17

> فَمَهِّلِ الْكَافِرِينَ أَمْهِلْهُمْ رُوَيْدًا [86:17]

(17) So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.\[1905\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1905\]- i.e., Do not be in haste for revenge, for you will see what will become of them.
