### الآية 92:1

> وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ [92:1]

In the Name of God, the Lord of Grace, the Ever-Merciful. By the night when she lets fall her darkness,

### الآية 92:2

> وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ [92:2]

by the day in full splendour,

### الآية 92:3

> وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ [92:3]

by Him who created the male and the female:

### الآية 92:4

> إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ [92:4]

surely your endeavours have divergent ends.

### الآية 92:5

> فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ [92:5]

As for him who gives and is God-fearing

### الآية 92:6

> وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ [92:6]

and believes in the truth of the ultimate good,

### الآية 92:7

> فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ [92:7]

We shall smooth the way to perfect ease.

### الآية 92:8

> وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ [92:8]

But as for him who is a miser and deems himself self-sufficient,

### الآية 92:9

> وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ [92:9]

and rejects the truth of the ultimate good,

### الآية 92:10

> فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ [92:10]

We shall smooth the way to affliction.

### الآية 92:11

> وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰ [92:11]

What will his wealth avail him when he goes down \[to his grave\].

### الآية 92:12

> إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ [92:12]

It is for Us to give guidance,

### الآية 92:13

> وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَىٰ [92:13]

and Ours is the life to come, and this first life.

### الآية 92:14

> فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ [92:14]

I warn you, therefore, of the raging Fire,

### الآية 92:15

> لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى [92:15]

which none shall have to endure but the most hapless wretch,

### الآية 92:16

> الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ [92:16]

who denies the truth and turns away.

### الآية 92:17

> وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى [92:17]

Kept away from it will be him who is God-fearing,

### الآية 92:18

> الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّىٰ [92:18]

who gives away his money to purify himself,

### الآية 92:19

> وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰ [92:19]

not in recompense of any favours done Him by anyone.

### الآية 92:20

> إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ [92:20]

but only out of a longing for the countenance of His Lord, the Most High.

### الآية 92:21

> وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ [92:21]

He shall indeed be well pleased.
