### الآية 95:1

> وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ [95:1]

(1) By the fig and the olive\[1947\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1947\]- Referring to the places known for their production, i.e., Damascus and Jerusalem, respectively. It could also refer to the fig and olive trees or to the fruits themselves.

### الآية 95:2

> وَطُورِ سِينِينَ [95:2]

(2) And \[by\] Mount Sinai

### الآية 95:3

> وَهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ الْأَمِينِ [95:3]

(3) And \[by\] this secure city \[i.e., Makkah\],

### الآية 95:4

> لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ [95:4]

(4) We have certainly created man in the best of stature;\[1948\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1948\]- i.e., upright, symmetrical, and balanced in form and nature.

### الآية 95:5

> ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَاهُ أَسْفَلَ سَافِلِينَ [95:5]

(5) Then We return him to the lowest of the low,\[1949\] 
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_
\[1949\]- This can refer to the depths of Hell, to decrepit old age or to immorality.

### الآية 95:6

> إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ [95:6]

(6) Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted.

### الآية 95:7

> فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِالدِّينِ [95:7]

(7) So what yet causes you to deny the Recompense?\[1950\]

\[1950\]- More literally, "What makes you lie concerning it?"

### الآية 95:8

> أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِأَحْكَمِ الْحَاكِمِينَ [95:8]

(8) Is not Allāh the most just of judges?
