16. But when He tries him by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!"— الترجمة الإنجليزية
— Dr. Ghali - English translationوَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَهَٰنَنِAnd just when He tries him, so He determines for him the right estimate of his provision, then he says, "My Lord has degraded me."
— Muhsin Khan - English translationوَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَهَٰنَنِBut when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!"

— Yusuf Ali - English translationوَأَمَّآ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيۡهِ رِزۡقَهُۥ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّيٓ أَهَٰنَنِBut when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!"

16. And as for when He tests him by restricting his sustenance, he thinks it is because of his insignificance in the eyes of his Lord. So he says: “My Lord has disgraced me.”— الترجمة الإنجليزية للمختصر في تفسير القرآن الكريم
