[1798]- i.e., made public. Much of their refusal of his message was due to envy and jealousy of the Prophet (ﷺ).
52. Nay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allâh with a writing that Islâm is the right religion, and Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم has come with the truth from Allâh, the Lord of the heavens and earth).— الترجمة الإنجليزية
— Dr. Ghali - English translationبَلۡ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِيٕٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ أَن يُؤۡتَىٰ صُحُفٗا مُّنَشَّرَةٗNo indeed, every person of them would like scrolls spread open to be brought him.
— Muhsin Khan - English translationبَلۡ يُرِيدُ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِيٕٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ أَن يُؤۡتَىٰ صُحُفٗا مُّنَشَّرَةٗNay, everyone of them desires that he should be given pages spread out (coming from Allah with a writing that Islam is the right religion, and Muhammad SAW has come with the truth from Allah the Lord of the heavens and earth, etc.).

52. Instead, each one of these idolaters wants for there to be an open book by his head side that tells him that Muhammad is a messenger from Allah.
