(34) Or He could destroy them[1424] for what they earned; but He pardons much.
[1424]- Meaning that Allāh could sink the ships by means of violent winds.

 34. Or He may destroy them (by shipwreck) because of that which their (people) have earned. And He pardons much.

34. Or if Allah, (may He be glorified), willed to destroy those ships by sending gale-force winds, He would have done so on account of the sins that people earn. He overlooks many of the sins of His servants and does not punish them for those.
