وَبِٱلَّيۡلِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ
And by night; Will you not then consider?
وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِينَ
And surely Yunus (Jonah) is indeed one of the Emissaries, 0
إِذۡ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ
As he deserted to the laden ship (s);
فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُدۡحَضِينَ
Then he cast lots. Yet he was of the rebutted,
فَٱلۡتَقَمَهُ ٱلۡحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٞ
So the whale gobbled him, and he was blameworthy.
فَلَوۡلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَبِّحِينَ
So had he not been of the extollers (of Allah),
لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطۡنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يُبۡعَثُونَ
He would indeed have lingered in its belly until the Day they will be made to rise again.
۞فَنَبَذۡنَٰهُ بِٱلۡعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٞ
Then We flung him off upon the naked (shore) and he was ailing.
وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ شَجَرَةٗ مِّن يَقۡطِينٖ
And We caused to grow over him a tree of gourds.
