(164) And [We sent] messengers about whom We have related [their stories] to you before and messengers about whom We have not related to you. And Allāh spoke to Moses with [direct] speech.

 164. And Messengers We have mentioned to you before, and Messengers We have not mentioned to you, - and to Mûsâ (Moses) Allâh spoke directly.

وَرُسُلٗا قَدۡ قَصَصۡنَٰهُمۡ عَلَيۡكَ مِن قَبۡلُ وَرُسُلٗا لَّمۡ نَقۡصُصۡهُمۡ عَلَيۡكَۚ وَكَلَّمَ ٱللَّهُ مُوسَىٰ تَكۡلِيمٗا

And Messengers We have already narrated to you (about) even before and Messengers We have not narrated to you (about); and to Musa (Moses) Allah spoke long, (eloquent) speech.

وَرُسُلٗا قَدۡ قَصَصۡنَٰهُمۡ عَلَيۡكَ مِن قَبۡلُ وَرُسُلٗا لَّمۡ نَقۡصُصۡهُمۡ عَلَيۡكَۚ وَكَلَّمَ ٱللَّهُ مُوسَىٰ تَكۡلِيمٗا

Of some messengers We have already told thee the story; of others We have not;- and to Moses Allah spoke direct;-

164. I sent messengers whom I have mentioned to you in the Qur’ān; and I also sent messengers whom I have not mentioned to you in the Qur’ān for a reason. And Allah spoke to Moses without an intermediary in a manner that befits Him, as an honour to Moses.
