31. And they say: "Why is not this Qur’ân sent down to some great man of the two towns (Makkah and Tâ’if)?"— الترجمة الإنجليزية
— Dr. Ghali - English translationوَقَالُواْ لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَرۡيَتَيۡنِ عَظِيمٍAnd they have said, "Had this Qur'an been successively sent down upon a man of eminence in the two towns?" (Makkah and At-TaÉif)

— Yusuf Ali - English translationوَقَالُواْ لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَرۡيَتَيۡنِ عَظِيمٍAlso, they say: "Why is not this Qur'an sent down to some leading man in either of the two (chief) cities?"
— Sahih International - English translationوَقَالُواْ لَوۡلَا نُزِّلَ هَٰذَا ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٖ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَرۡيَتَيۡنِ عَظِيمٍAnd they said, "Why was this Qur'an not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?"
