(85) So they said, "Upon Allāh do we rely. Our Lord, make us not [objects of] trial for the wrongdoing people— الترجمة الإنجليزية - صحيح انترناشونال
85. They said: "In Allâh we put our trust. Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the folk who are Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers) (i.e. do not make them overpower us).— الترجمة الإنجليزية
— Dr. Ghali - English translationفَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَThen they said, "On Allah we have put our trust. Our Lord, do not make us a temptation to the unjust people;
— Muhsin Khan - English translationفَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَThey said: "In Allah we put our trust. Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the folk who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing) (i.e. do not make them overpower us).

— Yusuf Ali - English translationفَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَThey said: "In Allah do we put out trust. Our Lord! make us not a trial for those who practise oppression;
— Sahih International - English translationفَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَSo they said, "Upon Allah do we rely. Our Lord, make us not [objects of] trial for the wrongdoing people
— Abul Ala Maududi(With tafsir) - English translationفَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ(10:85) They replied:2 'We place our reliance on Allah. Our Lord!
Do not make us a trial for the oppressors,3
— Abdul Haleem - English translationفَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَThey said, ‘We have put our trust in God. Lord! Do not make us an object of persecution for the oppressors.
— Mufti Taqi Usmani - English translationفَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَSo, they said, “In Allah we have placed our trust: Our Lord, do not make us a victim of the unjust people,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran - English translationفَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَThey replied, “In Allah we trust. Our Lord! Do not subject us to the persecution of the oppressive people,
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab - English translationفَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَThey replied, “In Allah we trust. Our Lord! Do not subject us to the persecution of the oppressive people,

85. They responded to Moses (peace be upon him) and said to him: In Allah alone we place our trust.
