(48) And We showed them not a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction that perhaps they might return [to faith].

48. And not an Ayâh (sign, etc.) We showed them but it was greater than its fellow , and We seized them with torment, in order that they might turn [from their polytheism to Allâh’s religion (Islâmic Monotheism)].

48. I showed Pharaoh and his leaders proof after proof to establish the authenticity of Moses’ message, each proof was greater in magnitude than the previous one. I seized them with the punishment in the world, in the hope that they turn away from the disbelief they were in, but to no avail.
