Verse 1
ﮉﮊﮋﮌﮍ
ﮎ
Nun. By the pen, by all they write,
Verse 2
ﮏﮐﮑﮒﮓ
ﮔ
you are not, by your Lord’s grace, a madman.
Verse 3
ﮕﮖﮗﮘﮙ
ﮚ
And indeed you shall have a never-ending reward.
Verse 4
ﮛﮜﮝﮞ
ﮟ
Most certainly, yours is a sublime character.
Verse 5
ﮠﮡ
ﮢ
You shall before long see, as they will see,
Verse 6
ﮣﮤ
ﮥ
which of you is afflicted with madness.
Verse 7
Your Lord knows best who has strayed from his path, as He knows the ones who are rightly guided.
Verse 8
ﯓﯔﯕ
ﯖ
So pay no heed to those who deny the truth.
Verse 9
ﯗﯘﯙﯚ
ﯛ
They would love that you compromise with them, so that they will also compromise.
Verse 10
ﯜﯝﯞﯟﯠ
ﯡ
Furthermore, pay no heed to any contemptible swearer,
Verse 11
ﯢﯣﯤ
ﯥ
slanderer, going about with defaming tales,
Verse 12
ﯦﯧﯨﯩ
ﯪ
hinderer of good, aggressor, sinful,
Verse 13
ﯫﯬﯭﯮ
ﯯ
cruel and, on top of all that, given to evil.
Verse 14
ﯰﯱﯲﯳﯴ
ﯵ
Just because he has wealth and children,
Verse 15
when Our revelations are recited to him, he says, ‘Fables of the ancients!’
Verse 16
ﯾﯿﰀ
ﰁ
We shall brand him on the snout.
Verse 17
We try them as We tried the owners of a certain garden, who vowed that they would harvest its fruits on the morrow,
Verse 18
ﭜﭝ
ﭞ
and made no allowance.
Verse 19
A visitation from your Lord came upon that garden while they were asleep,
Verse 20
ﭧﭨ
ﭩ
so that by morning it was stripped bare and looked desolate.
Verse 21
ﭪﭫ
ﭬ
At daybreak they called out to one another:
Verse 22
‘Go early to your tilth if you wish to gather all its fruits’.
Verse 23
ﭵﭶﭷ
ﭸ
So they went off, whispering to one another,
Verse 24
ﭹﭺﭻﭼﭽﭾ
ﭿ
‘Make sure that no needy person enters the garden today’.
Verse 25
ﮀﮁﮂﮃ
ﮄ
Early they went, strongly bent on their purpose.
Verse 26
ﮅﮆﮇﮈﮉ
ﮊ
When they saw it, they exclaimed: ‘Surely we have lost our way!
Verse 27
ﮋﮌﮍ
ﮎ
No! We are utterly ruined’.
Verse 28
The wisest among them said, ‘Did I not tell you, “Will you not extol God’s limitless glory?”’
Verse 29
ﮗﮘﮙﮚﮛﮜ
ﮝ
They said, ‘Limitless in His glory is our Lord! Truly, we were doing wrong’.
Verse 30
ﮞﮟﮠﮡﮢ
ﮣ
Then they turned upon each other with mutual reproach.
Verse 31
ﮤﮥﮦﮧﮨ
ﮩ
They said: ‘Woe betide us! We have done great wrong.
Verse 32
It may be that our Lord will grant us something better instead. To our Lord we truly turn in hope’.
Verse 33
Such is the suffering [in this life], but greater indeed is the suffering in the life to come, if they but knew it.
Verse 34
ﯡﯢﯣﯤﯥﯦ
ﯧ
For the God-fearing there shall be gardens of bliss with their Lord.
Verse 35
ﯨﯩﯪ
ﯫ
Should We treat those who submit themselves to Us as We treat the guilty?
Verse 36
ﯬﯭﯮﯯ
ﯰ
What is the matter with you? On what basis do you judge?
Verse 37
ﯱﯲﯳﯴﯵ
ﯶ
Or have you a divine book which you study,
Verse 38
ﯷﯸﯹﯺﯻ
ﯼ
and in which you find that you shall have all that you choose?
Verse 39
Or have you received solemn oaths, binding on Us till the Day of Resurrection, that you will get whatever you yourselves decide?
Verse 40
ﰊﰋﰌﰍ
ﰎ
Ask them which of them will vouch for this.
Verse 41
Or have they partners? Let them produce their partners, if what they say is true.
Verse 42
On the Day when matters become so dire, they will be asked to prostrate themselves, but they will not be able to do so.
Verse 43
Their eyes will be downcast, with ignominy overwhelming them. They were invited to prostrate themselves when they were safe.
Verse 44
Therefore, leave to Me those who deny this revelation. We shall bring them low, step by step, in ways beyond their knowledge.
Verse 45
ﭪﭫﭬﭭﭮﭯ
ﭰ
I will allow them more time: My scheme is truly firm.
Verse 46
Do you [Prophet] demand a payment from them [and so they fear] that they would be burdened with debt?
Verse 47
ﭹﭺﭻﭼﭽ
ﭾ
Do they have knowledge of the hidden reality so that they can write it down?
Verse 48
So, await in patience your Lord’s judgement; and do not be like the man in the whale who called out in distress.
Verse 49
Had not grace from his Lord reached him, he would have been left upon that barren shore in a state of disgrace.
Verse 50
ﮖﮗﮘﮙﮚ
ﮛ
His Lord, however, chose him and made him one of the righteous.
Verse 51
The unbelievers well-nigh trip you up with their eyes when they hear this reminder. They say, ‘He is surely mad’.
Verse 52
ﮩﮪﮫﮬﮭ
ﮮ
Yet it is but a reminder to all mankind.
