Translation of Surah Al-Ma'arij in الإنجليزية from ترجمة معاني القرآن الكريم - عادل صلاحي
Verse 1
ﮮﮯﮰﮱ
ﯓ
An inquirer has asked about a suffering which is bound to befall
Verse 2
ﯔﯕﯖﯗ
ﯘ
the unbelievers. Nothing can ward it off,
Verse 3
ﯙﯚﯛﯜ
ﯝ
as it comes from God, the Lord of the Ways of Ascent.
Verse 4
All the angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him, on a day the length of which is fifty thousand years.
Verse 5
ﯪﯫﯬ
ﯭ
Therefore, endure all adversity with goodly patience.
Verse 6
ﯮﯯﯰ
ﯱ
People think it to be far away,
Verse 7
ﯲﯳ
ﯴ
but We see it near at hand.
Verse 8
ﯵﯶﯷﯸ
ﯹ
On the Day when the sky will be like molten lead,
Verse 9
ﯺﯻﯼ
ﯽ
and the mountains like tufts of wool,
Verse 10
ﯾﯿﰀﰁ
ﰂ
when no friend will ask about his friend,
Verse 11
though they may be within sight of one another. The guilty one will wish he could ransom himself from the suffering on that Day by sacrificing his own children,
Verse 12
ﭜﭝ
ﭞ
his wife, his brother,
Verse 13
ﭟﭠﭡ
ﭢ
the kinsfolk who gave him shelter,
Verse 14
ﭣﭤﭥﭦﭧﭨ
ﭩ
and all those on earth, if it could save him.
Verse 15
ﭪﭫﭬﭭ
ﭮ
But no! It is the raging Fire
Verse 16
ﭯﭰ
ﭱ
that tears the skin away.
Verse 17
ﭲﭳﭴﭵ
ﭶ
It will claim all who turn their backs, and turn away from the truth,
Verse 18
ﭷﭸ
ﭹ
amass riches and hoard them.
Verse 19
ﭺﭻﭼﭽﭾ
ﭿ
Man is born with a restless disposition:
Verse 20
ﮀﮁﮂﮃ
ﮄ
when misfortune befalls him, he is fretful;
Verse 21
ﮅﮆﮇﮈ
ﮉ
and when good fortune comes his way, he grows tight-fisted.
Verse 22
ﮊﮋ
ﮌ
Not so those who pray,
Verse 23
ﮍﮎﮏﮐﮑ
ﮒ
and always attend to their prayers;
Verse 24
ﮓﮔﮕﮖﮗ
ﮘ
who give a due share of their possessions
Verse 25
ﮙﮚ
ﮛ
to the one who asks [for help] and the one who is deprived;
Verse 26
ﮜﮝﮞﮟ
ﮠ
who believe in the Day of Judgement;
Verse 27
ﮡﮢﮣﮤﮥﮦ
ﮧ
who stand in fear of their Lord’s punishment,
Verse 28
ﮨﮩﮪﮫﮬ
ﮭ
for none may feel totally secure from their Lord’s punishment;
Verse 29
ﮮﮯﮰﮱ
ﯓ
who guard their chastity
Verse 30
except with those joined to them in marriage, or those whom they rightfully possess – for then, they are free of all blame,
Verse 31
whereas those who seek to go beyond that [limit] are indeed transgressors;
Verse 32
ﯧﯨﯩﯪﯫ
ﯬ
who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges;
Verse 33
ﯭﯮﯯﯰ
ﯱ
who stand up for the truth when they bear witness;
Verse 34
ﯲﯳﯴﯵﯶ
ﯷ
and who attend to their prayers without fail.
Verse 35
ﯸﯹﯺﯻ
ﯼ
They are the ones to be honoured in the Gardens of Paradise.
Verse 36
ﯽﯾﯿﰀﰁ
ﰂ
What is wrong with the unbelievers, that they run confusedly before you,
Verse 37
ﰃﰄﰅﰆﰇ
ﰈ
from the right and the left, in crowds?
Verse 38
Does every one of them hope to enter a garden of bliss?
Verse 39
ﰒﰓﰔﰕﰖﰗ
ﰘ
No! We have created them from the substance they know.
Verse 40
By the Lord of all star risings and settings, We certainly have the power
Verse 41
to replace them with better people. There is nothing to prevent Us from doing so.
Verse 42
Leave them to indulge in idle talk and play until they face the Day they have been promised,
Verse 43
the Day when they shall come in haste from their graves, as if rallying to a flag,
Verse 44
with eyes downcast, with ignominy overwhelming them. Such is the Day they have been promised.
