Abul Ala Maududi(With tafsir) - English translation

آية رقم 1

ArRoom

(30:1) Alif. Lam. Mim.
آية رقم 2

(30:2) The Romans have been defeated

(30:5) at the victory granted by Allah.3 He grants victory to
whomsoever He pleases. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate.
آية رقم 11

(30:11) Allah creates in the first instance and will later repeat it.3
Thereafter it is to Him that you shall be sent back.
آية رقم 12

(30:12) On that Day when the Hour will come to pass,4 the criminals
shall be dumbfounded.5

(30:13) None whom they had associated with Allah in His Divinity will intercede
on their behalf;6 rather, they will disown those whom they had set
up as Allah's associates in His Divinity.7
آية رقم 14

(30:14) On that Day when the Hour will come to pass, people will be split
into groups.8

(30:15) Then those who believed and acted righteously will be placed in a
Garden9 and will be happy and jubilant.0

(30:16) As for those who disbelieved1 and gave the lie to Our
Signs and to the encounter of the Hereafter, they will be arraigned for chastisement.
آية رقم 18

(30:18) His is all praise in the heavens and in the earth; (and glorify Him)
in the afternoon and when the sun begins to decline.4

(30:19) He brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead
from the living, and revives the earth after it is dead.5 Likewise
will you be raised to life (after you die).

(30:20) And of His6 Signs is that He created you from dust and
behold, you became human beings, and are multiplying around (the earth).7

(30:31) (Adhere to the True Faith and) turn to Him,8 and hold
Him in awe,9 and establish Prayer,0 and do not be of
those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity,

(30:33) (Such are human beings) that when any misfortune befalls them, they
cry to their Lord, penitently turning to Him.2 But no sooner that
He lets them have a taste of His Mercy than some of them begin associating others
with their Lord in His Divinity3
آية رقم 34

(30:34) so that they may show ingratitude to Us for the favours We had bestowed
upon them. So, enjoy yourselves a while; but then you shall soon come to know.

(30:40) It is Allah1 Who created you, then bestowed upon you
your sustenance,2 and He will cause you to die and then will bring
you back to life. Can any of those whom you associate with Allah in His Divinity!
do any such thing?3 Glory be to Him and exalted be He above whatever
they associate with Allah in His Divinity.

(30:41) Evil has become rife on the land and at sea because of men's deeds;
this in order that He may cause them to have a taste of some of their deeds;
perhaps they will turn back (from evil).4

(30:44) He who disbelieves will suffer the consequence of it7
and he who acts righteously, they will pave the way for their own good

(30:46) And of His Signs is that He sends winds to herald good tidings8
and that He may give you a taste of His Mercy, and that ships may sail at His
bidding,9 and you may seek His Bounty0 and give thanks
to Him.

(30:51) But if We were to send a wind and then their tilth has become yellow,4
they would never cease to disbelieve.5

(30:55) On that Day when the Hour will come to pass0 the wicked
shall swear that they had stayed (in the world) no more than an hour.1
Thus they used to be deceived in the life of the world.2

(30:57) So that will be the Day when the excuses of the wrong-doers will
not avail them, nor will they be asked to make amends.3

(30:60) Therefore, (O Prophet), have patience. Surely Allah's promise is
true.4 Let those who lack certainty not cause you to be unsteady.5
